Odd question I know, but I was wondering.
The reason I ask is that the first time I remember first hearing that word being used in a video game was in The Getaway for the PS2, in fact that surprised me when I first played it

My younger brother was playing San Andreas and Scarface. I could of swore that I heard it in both of them. I really can't think of any other games where I've actually heard it in dialog.
I remember when I was a kid and Hitler Master-D called me a damned fool for trying to blow up his cryogenic capsule in Bionic Commando. So I guess it's sometime between then and now, because that was shocking at the time (and not just because of Nintendo's censorship trip that somehow missed this part, along with Hitler's Master-D's exploding melon). :)

The first game that it was used excessively was Kingpin: Life of Crime for the PC. I remember every other word was the F word.

I recall Resident Evil 3 has "Fuck" written on one of the walls.

The first really fucked up game I played was Phantasmagoria, but I don't know which one *first* used fuck. I'm sure it was long before the PS2, however.

When Megaman came out.
When Megaman came out.
I think he meant onscreen text, not reactions of the gamer. Out of curiosity, which part got you? I didn't think any of them were particularly hard until Megaman 4.

Well the original Megaman had the very poor control to help increase the challenge. Plus let's be honest here the slide introduced in the third game helps a heck of a lot. Since it gives a new way to dodge stuff other than hope the enemy is low enough when you jump.

Old PC games. Carmageddon possibly. Nam & Duke Nukem possibly. GTA I wouldn't be surprised.
Its in the Stabbing Westward intro song on PSX Duke Nukem:Time To Kill song definitely.

I think the horribly-named PC Engine shooter Download (http://pcenginebible.roarvgm.com/HTML_Games/Download.htm) may be the winner. It was released in Japan by NEC in 1990, and one of the game over screens says (in English) "I can not f*ck up for this".

IMHO, the original Megaman was by far the hardest. The introduction of energy tanks and the slide made the games a whole lot easier.

In general several series and/or types of games became easier because the playable character gained more abilities in which to deal with his or her problems. What you mentioned here in terms of Megaman is a very good example of what I mean. Still it's kind of funny it took them until the third game to think of the idea for adding the slide.

Leisure Suit Larry (EGA version)lets you use the "fuck" type-in command... :>
In fact, all of the old-school, Sierra games would let you type in swear words. It's funny to see the type-in responses to stop using your potty mouth. :P

When was the f-word first used in video games? Apparently, sometime in the 80s.

Yeah, I was trying to be clever. Way to shoot me down man :(

Ah yes the vanishing blocks. Fun for everyone! Still it's fun how multiple people have been answering Megaman. I'm not sure if Capcom should be depressed or proud.

I'm thinking shot, then hanged, then shot again... Unless they're directly in charge of releasing RE4 for the Wii, then they shall live... For now...

Maybe I was just a weird kid (maybe?), but I made it through Heat Man's stage in MM2 without Item-2 and the only life I lost was the one I got back anyway for jumping off the blocks to get the 1UP in the middle of the area. I scoff at you people with your block puzzles. :sigh:

Meh. I've done it, too, but I haven't done it in probably a decade. I only use item-2 now. Can't be arsed to do it again.

Okay so I take advantages of items on occasion to get past certain puzzles. Still the real fun will be if someone has managed to beat bosses in a Megaman game with a weapon they are immune against!

Wow...from talking about when a swear word was first used in video games to moments in Mega Man that made gamers use the f-word

The funny part is that I didn't notice the other posts about the game, I guess I had a brain fart :sd:

Yep. And after struggling with the first vanishing block area in Iceman's stage, it lead to...more vanishing blocks... :grr:
