Silent Mobius Movies ~ Remastered DVDs

Has anyone reviewed the "finally released on DVD" ~Remastered~ versions of SILENT MOBIUS Movies 1 & 2 (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=VIZF-70) ? I'd like to purchase them but I'm suspicious about ordering anything overseas, and would like to know if the overall quality "improvement" (i.e. DVD Authoring) is really worth it. Has anyone bought them?

Got the set when it was first released... and both the image and the sound quality are excellent. The remastering is right on par with most of the recent releases of older titles.

The set also comes with the original soundtrack CD's, which was a nice bonus.

I'm tempted now. Half-waiting for a R1, & knowing my luck a license would be announced soon after buying these.

That's how I kind of feel. But I would be shocked and amazed if these movies every get an R1 DVD release.

My other reason for being reluctant on ordering these are that they are not subbed, which I already have fansubs on VHS and Digital, plus the movie soundtracks I also have already. So I would be looking to spend over $100 on something that simply looks and sounds good, which I'm not even sure I can play on my DVD player or computer.

But I really, really, really love SILENT MOBIUS!!

...... damn! I still don't know if blowing a hundred+ bucks is worth it.

I have the LDs. Luckily I can just rent the R2s if I feel like it, otherwise I'm not planning on shelling out the cash for them until there's a Blu-Ray release.

I've seen them on VHS fansub & own the 2nd CD. So strength of buying would be on movie 1 (2nd is so-so) & CD 1.

Do love the seiyuus & movie 1 is a trip by itself. When re-watching SM, I swap beginnings depending on mood, a bit like the Eva endings. Excellent seiyuus! I'd like to support the Japanese release really, but there's too much else to double dip on! Buster is lucky to be able to rent.

For R1, it would be cool to have the Streamline dub versions of each as well, sort of legacy/nostalgia appeal. Some of my old VHS actually have trailers for the movies.
