What's your favorite fight scene from the stuff you've seen so far in this season? For me, nothing comes close to the three-way fight in Dennou Coil. The creativity in the fight scene, facial expressions and energy in the battle in episode 4 were just incredibly fun. I get excited just thinking about it. :D

I'd go so far as to call the Seirei no Moribito spear fight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTr5e0DwROY) the greatest action scene ever animated.

I really like the way battles are animated in Romeo x Juliet. Heroic Age has some pretty good scenes when they step up the animation quality (it's not hard to tell the difference).

ETA: Oh, wow, I feel dumb for forgetting Seirei.

I cannot believe I forgot about that. O.O That spear fight was just so fluid.
I also liked some of the battle scenes in Claymore, but mostly for their energy. :sd: You can't really see that actual swords clashing.

I don't even think that qualifies as a fight :sd: It was... more than a little one-sided. XD As it kind of had to be.

Claymore has some really well done scenes. Some of them suffer from "we just hit the fast forward button", but on the whole, the Claymore vs. Claymore battle involving Teresa was really good.

Though of a different type, I completely agree that the cyberwar in Dennou Coil was mind blowing. They have fleshed out the technology of that world, from physical peripherals to digital hacks, in ways that seem almost impossible. If we got to see something that epic in episode 4, I can't fathom what some of the climactic scenes will be like.

I'd agree with Heroic Age more if the whole show until episode 10 wasn't practically one whole battle. :sd: The Nodoss clashes certainly satisfy a desire for titanic clashes of ancient god-like beings, but the quality and interest in it all varies and I can't pick one example of it that blew me away the most. Eventually I got a little impatient with it. Very fun show though.

The showdown in the Church in sola was kind of impressive. The fights in general in that show are, even if they aren't long or epic.

I also must give credit to a recent episode of Touka Gettan for that clash between a Juna-possessed Yumiko and Touka, with a little Kikyou-Makoto GIANT DRAGON action as well.

I guess overall I would give it to Dennou Coil as well, because I've just never seen anything *quite* like it, and Isako on her throne is just too fucking hot (in a nonsexual way) to say no to.

But the award going to Strikers by the end of the season is pretty much a given. Just not yet.

I've been watching Gigantic Formula a lot, so some of the mech on mech battles are pretty good. If I had to pick one I'd go with France vs England as that was a pretty good one.

The first DMC episode had a couple good fight scenes. Other then those I really can't think of any in the shows that I'm following.

I was just thinking that they're the primary thing holding the show down =P

Less bad mech battles, more [spoiler]Ninja Mana!

I'm going to second the fight from episode 3 of Seirei no Moribito as it is one of, if not the best animated fight I've ever seen. However, if we're talking any currently airing show that just happens to be still going on this season, I'm going to go with one from Bleach, involving the so under appreciated battle-loving Ikkaku and his fight vs. Eduardo, inwhich he unleashes his bankai. My face still hurts from the ridiculous grin I wore while watching it...

I wholeheartedly agree. In terms of fighting, that episode was about as flawless as you can get.

I agree on the fact that the originality in Denno Coil was simply awe-inspiring. Isako is just badass with her chilly Kuwashima voice.

Renton kicked ass in the last few parts of Eureka Seven.

The fight between Fukuro and Karasu in Noein was pretty bad ass, too.

I have a feeling that our friends above are talking about anime that is currently airing in Japan.....

If I had been asked to predict this before the season started, I would have said Nanoha StrikerS. But so far, it hasn't had any major fights though it did have one jawdropping beat down that couldn't really be considered a fight. It was the end of a fight and the rest of it wasn't anything particularly special.

In any case, at this point I would have to go with Dennou Coil episode 4.

Claymore had a situation similar to Nanoha. It was jawdropping, but it wasn't a real fight, it was an utter slaughter after one concluded.

Seirei no Moribito literally has the best fight animation of any show in the last few years, perhaps ever. No other current show even comes close.

I have to agree, the fine attention to detail put into that scene...just beautiful. After seeing it it's hard to even remember what comes close, though I suppose Cowboy Bebop:KOHD's Vincent vs Spike is up there with it.

It's definitely the greatest action scene by far this season and the past few years. I'm not too sure whether it would be the greatest action scene ever animated but it would surely be up there in the stratosphere.

Great direction, fluidly animated, no detail too small, and wonderful choice of accompanying soundtrack that enhances the action.

Agreed. It wasn't so much a fight, more of a smackdown. BTW how do you say " Sit Down Foo" In Japanese? :sd:

It's pretty sad that the new Naruto season has yet to give us a good fight yet though the show does seem to be taking it's sweet time unraveling. The first Itachi-Kisame fight against Team Kakashi and Team Gai was pretty good though i think the Kisame-Gai fight was better. It had more action and i liked the running gag of Gai being unable to remember where had seen Kisame before, though unfortunately since it wasn't involving Naruto it didn't get as much screen time. :sigh:

Have you seen Jubei-chan the Ninja Girl 2 ?
Absolutely. Jubei-chan 2 is still my standard of comparison for fight scenes, but I think that it'll switch to Seirei no Moribitio in the near future. The fact that the latter's action is more realistic is another mark in its favor.

I believe that happened in volume 6 or 7, so we've got a long wait until we get that.

I'm with you on all counts here. Ikkaku's fight put a smile on my face the entire time. He's a great character and I was happy to see him get tons of screen time.

Now, if only Shunsui could ever get any screen time... :sd:

I don't know: I watched Hellsing Ultimate II last night and Seras vamped out and ripped several ghouls to pieces. It was a veritable bloodbath--which I thoroughly enjoyed! :sd:

What guyver and Hitokiri are referencing is a specific event in the manga. At the point you're at, she has not yet become a vampire, because she has not yet drank blood. When she finally does, well...you'll see.

edit: my bad...fixed tags...old habits and all :sd:

If it surpasses last night's scene, I'm all for it. Bring on the massacre!

For those that are on the fence about Hellsing Ultimate, I've got to say that I'm really enjoying it: More blood, more profanity, better art, more over-the-top characters. They've got me well and truly hooked on this one. So I imagine I'll still be here come volume 6, 7 or whatever.
