Chapter 180 of the Negima! manga has the cast for all the girls in the live-action version of Negima!. Not only do we have some 22-year old actresses playing middle school girls, but all non-Japanese characters are now Japanese.

Read all the goodness here. (http://astronerdboy.blogspot.com/2007/07/live-action-negima-read-em-and-weep.html)

Eva and the twins are supposed to be lolis. They look too old.
Anyway as long as they keep some Setsuna x Konoka yuri in, I won't complain too much.

I'll watch an episode or two (which will almost certainly not be subbed, of course) just to see how bad it is. Considering they didn't even try to make the girls look remotely like the manga characters (like, say, making the blond haired girls like Eva actually have blond hair), I certainly don't expect much.

Oh well, maybe we'll at least see some Setsuna x Konoka action.

I like how they couldn't even find that many cute girls.

Mana doesn't look like the type to be sporting Desert Eagles or a PSG1 Sniper Rifle.

No android ears for Chachamaru. No face tattoos for Zazie. Eva is now Japanese (along with other foreign girls). :sigh:

And yeah, you got to love 22-year old girls playing as middle school girls.

Maybe, just maybe, the girl playing Eva is supposed to be "Adult Eva" when she is using her illusion, and there is a loli for us to enjoy who will only be revealed once the show airs.

As for the twins, I thought they looked young enough, they are certainly short enough. Chacha disapppoints in that they made no attempt to make her look remotely non-human. Sayo looks decidedly, well, alive.

No blondes, redheads, or brunettes, and what do you think the odds are Asuna will have different colored contacts? And yeah, lots of UNCUTE chicks in there.

And my final "what are the odds": how much you wanna bet the fact that Setsuna is an albino (and a half-demon) NEVER, EVER comes up?

But let's look at the other side: maybe this is just all preliminary. Maybe they only have the school uniforms right now to photograph. Maybe there will be such High Tech and Exotic items used in the production as Hair Dye, and Make Up, and Prosthetic Moles (for Chizuru). Give it a chance. Ken's not a total idjit, maybe he'll yet have some imput that will save our favorite 31 lolis.

No, they do have those, just not in these pictures. It was mentioned in one of the Shounen Magazine articles about the LA series.

Actually, in the case of the twins, those two are played by 12-year olds.

To be fair, some of the manga characters sure as hell don't look like middle school girls either (Mana, for example.)

but all non-Japanese characters are now Japanese.

Actually, he says all non-Japanese characters are played by Japanese actresses. Which isn't really shocking for a Japanese TV production. Although some attempt at variant hair colors would have been nice...

I kind of want to see it--I expect I'll enjoy it if it's a train wreck or if it's good, either way. :sd:

considering they couldn't even put glasses on Chisame or give Nodoka an emo hairdo. Can't see how difficult those would be to mimic...play glasses and extensions. At least Hatsuki looks to be is a decent match.

I'm sure I'll get a few laughs from any tokusatsu. Then again, any use of bad CG will be just as amusing. :D

So did they get the same actress to play every character or is that just me?

Protip: Twins in Japan are EXTREMELY RARE. So much so that in the 60's a singing duo called "The Peanuts" were notable simply because they were twins. They also played the twin goddess fairies that hung out with Mothra in the Godzilla movies.

Did the article mention why they weren't there for the promo pictures? I mean they managed to get several costumes together for promotional purposes. ^_^;;;

Not to mention both versions of Disney's Parent Trap had one actress double as both roles. It's like they made no effort at all.

Using special effects to duplicate one actress != no effort at all. If they did that with Negima I'd be completely satisfied - the point is that the twins visibly look the same and not just "kinda similar".

I feel like that would have taken more effort than just hiring twins, especially in the '60s...

They should have at least done that with this.

Again, your argument is based on an incorrect assumption: namely that there were twin actresses available in the right age range to hire. This is in all likelihood NOT the case. As I said twins in Japan are EXTREMELY rare. This does not even being to take into account that identical twins (like Fuka and Fumika) are EVEN MORE RARE that other twins.

"both"? Where you been? Disney's remade this load of crap like 4 times. And it gets even less interesting and believable each time.

I'm only aware of the Hayley Mills and Lindsay Lohan versions, I've never seen any other version.

The point stands that if Disney can't get real twin child actresses for a theatrical movie then why should they be able to for some low budget Japanese dorama?

I think you misread his post. The suggestion was that they should have used special effects to duplicate one actress for the twins in Negima.

Aww, she's alright. Actually, she and Makie are pretty much the only ones working for me, outside of the non-twins (and this because they look the right age).

Setsuna and Konoka (that seemed pretty clear)

LOL
