Hello everyone,

I do apologize if any of these questions are frequently asked I have been searching the fourms but I thought it would be best to just ask my questions :)

I started watching anime in Nov of last year I've got about 66 tiles I've seen since then anyway it always seems like when the US gets the title it's been out in japan for ages.

So here are my questions.

1) Are there any good places to find "whats new and hot" in anime over in japan? what's the newest big title everyone is talking about?

2) I've seen in other threads that sometimes you have to go though a middle man to get some dvds are there any places that I can go that sell newer dvds that's reputable?

3) I know next to no Japanese do many of the titles out of Japan come subtitled (I'm guessing it's a no based on a thread I've seen) in english?

4) is there anything you would recommend I watch out for when buying R2's?

Thank you for reading!

Some things to ponder:

Most R2-J anime don't come with any english-subs. Check CDJapan for language-features of the R2-J dvd you want to buy.

If you know next to nothing about the oral japanese-language, it would really be an expensive pointlessness to purchase R2-J dvd's.

You will need a player or software that can play R2-J region-code dvd.

With that said, I suggest you stick with the R1-dvd's for awhile and practice understanding basic Japanese-language first before you delve into the expensive R2-J hobby.

We do have a "Newbie Tips" thread up the top with newbie tips.

The General Anime forums would be a good start.

amazon.co.jp and cdjapan.co.jp spring straight to mind as being unimpeacable and offering not only "newer" DVDs but pre-orders. I usually use yesasia.com as you avoid import duty when ordering from the UK, but I believe the odd dodgy HK disc has been known to slip though (although R2 stuff should be no problem)

We do have a "Region 2 DVDs with English Audio/Subtitles" thread at the top there which details R2 DVD with English audio and/or subtitles, and also a section on the main site itself.
