For me, that took longer to load than it did to play.

I haven't played any but the first two Zeldas, so I don't know if there's some in-joke regarding Link not speaking but the shop keeper can.

The joke is that ever since Ocarina of Time (the first N64 Zelda), Nintendo has had a standing policy that everyone speaks in text, except Link. All you ever hear from Link are grunts, cries, and yells. Hence why in this video the shopkeeper can talk, but all Link can do is talk in mime and grunts/yells (which were pulled from the games).
