The usual drill - what new releases coming in August are you preordering/will pick up during the month?
My list looks like this at the minute:
360
Bioshock
PS3
Lair
Stranglehold SE
Blade Storm
Warhawk (some places saying this is coming in August which seems a bit optimistic but I'll stick it down anyway)
Wii
Metroid Prime 3
PS2
Nothing! (that must be some sort of record)
DS
Lifesigns: Surgical Unit (assuming it doesn't get delayed again)
Donkey Kong Jungle Climber
PSP
Jeanne D'Arc
PS2
Nothing! (that must be some sort of record)
Don't worry, I'm sure you'll think of something. Probably five somethings.
Anyway, for me it's Metroid Prime 3. I'm going to have a busy fall with all the games dropping on the DS, Wii, and PSP Lite, so I'm not going to splurge on games between now and then.

Tell me about it. I was actually thinking of starting a new thread with a poll asking about how many games and how much money people are expecting to spend from October - December this year, because although last year was crazy with 2 new consoles launching, I really do think I'll be spending even more this year which I have to say, is a pretty frightning thought :sd:
I looked at the rest of my 2007 games calendar and found
• 8 DS games ($240)
• 4 Wii games ($200)
• 1 PSP Lite ($200)
• 4 PSP games ($140)
So that's $780, or roughly equivalent to one of your months. That's just on forthcoming games, so if there are certain Wii games getting price drops, it could go up. (I mean, really, I can't justify $50 for WarioWare, but $30 isn't so bad.)
Where the heck do you find the time?
1 for me -
Blue Dragon (Xbox 360)

QFE! Even if I had the money I couldn't fathom having the time to play 1/5th of what you buy Johnny!
As for me, nothing planned, but I will be picking up the new slim PSP in September.

Only game on my radar right now is Metroid Prime 3 for the Wii.
I'm thinking about importing that Hayate no Gotoku game on the DS, but I'm going to wait a little longer to find out what kind of game it is before making a final verdict. It IS from Konami. But then again, a Konami game based off an anime probably won't play as great as one of their original games like Castlevania: PoR.

Nothing is set in stone, but I'm definitely leaning towards getting Wild Arms 5th Vanguard as soon as possible. I mean I have the other Wild Arms games and while it's not my favorite series the games do have a certain charm to them. So yeah why not go for the fifth game?

I'm not sure if I'm pre-ordering, but I'm picking up Virtua Fighter 5 on release date (unless it comes out when I'm on vacation. Then I'll cry :P )

Yep, yep, Okay, I need to go and pre-order this post haste!

Well, a quick count puts me at:
PS3/360: 26 (and that's including stuff like Time Crisis 4, Guitar Hero III and Rock Band which need extra peripherals)
PS2: 5 (that seems a lot smaller than it should be though...)
Wii: 18
And I'm not even going to bother counting PSP and DS stuff.
So, if you take the 360, PS3 and Wii games to average £35, that's £1540 (err $3000 or so?)
PS2 games will be like £20 which is another £100
So yeah, anyone wanna give me any donations? :sd:

I promised my girlfriend that I would not buy any more games until I beat the games I currently own.
That said, I've pre-ordered Lair and I'm contemplating taking a day or two off to play it.

Honestly I wasn't aware either until the second brother brought it up. Either way it definitely gives me something to play around the time it comes out or a bit later depending on how far I am in whatever I'm currently playing of anything.
Not that I'm playing anything at the moment since I was mainly on a break period from playing console RPGs in part because it's a good idea from time to time. That and the fact I was trying to give more focus to Castlevania anyway so I could finish both games in the double pack.

I just noticed that Johnny is the number one video game otaku. So... congrats, nerd. Maybe that's been your title for a while, but I just noticed and laughed at it now.
So what's I gettin'?
PC
Bioshock
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (assuming this actually comes out)
Stranglehold
PS2
Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System Stupid Title Edition (If it's in English)
PS3
Lair
Xbox 360
Blue Dragon
Wii
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Most anticipated game by a fuckin' mile is Metroid Prime 3. Lotta games coming out next month... especially for the PC. I think this also marks the start of when the Wii legitimizes itself since after MP3 comes out, there's an avalanche of stuff for the rest of the year.

Ok, my official list: (most of these won't be pre-orders, but the 360 ones are pick-up-on-day-one games)
360
Blue Dragon (which was my #1 anticipated game in January)
Madden 08 (Hells yeah!)
Bioshock
PS3
Lair (I need more info but what I've seen is sexy)
And whats the release date for VF5? Gamestop says October 2?

Aye dude had that for a while yo. Glad you like it :D But yeah, do we have a rule on AoD about drunken posting? Sorry guys, I'm wiped out here but I'm not being offensive or shit so it's all good, right?

Yep, glad to see some great Wii stuff coming of late. Dragon Quest Swords should be in my eager mitts tomorrow and that should be sweet as. Plus thwere's like Dewy's Adventure and shit coming soon so props to the Wii etc.
I'm still buying Wii Fit too!! :D
Madden 08 (Hells yeah!)
I thought about getting this for the Wii, but I realized that I just don't care to play Madden right now, and perhaps never again. After having three 1000-yard receivers in one season in the 06 game (yes, with the 9ers) and breaking Peyton Manning's quarterback rating record and leading the league in rushing in the 07 game (again, with the 9ers), there's not much left for me to prove on the gridiron.
So I'm going to pass on 08.
Now, what EA needs to do is licence Tecmo Bowl from (oddly enough) Tecmo and make a new game out of that. With online multiplayer (something those games cry for because of all the cheaters who look at the opponent's controller to see what the play call is).

Which appears to be releasing on the same day as Soul Nomad -- NIS' game after Disgaea 2. And on the DS front Rune Factory: Harvest Moon and Luminous Arc both come out like a week or two earlier.
For what can be th slowest time of the year, things are surprisingly busy!

Just Persona 3 for the PS2.
I'm adding one, which is Luminous Arc for the DS. It's a tactical RPG which graded an 8.0 from NP.
After reading some of the reports on FFT/psp, I'm thinking I need someone else's game to offset the disappointment. How is it, for example, that the Playstation version of that game could have only minor slowdown issues when rendering complex light effects, and the PSP version apparently has variable slowdown throughout battle? By my admittedly rough calculations, the PSP's processor runs at 10 times the clock speed of the PS One, but the video resolution is only 1.7 times as large. And I also read that the game's just like that and the localizing team can't fix it. They also can't fix a reduction in sound quality, but they made sure to add voices. That's priorities for you.
Now here's the question. I already have the PS One FFT. I was going to buy a PSP because of the FFT remaster. Do I still want a PSP? Or should I wait for the inevitable re-remaster that'll be on the next Nintendo handheld?
Anyway. Luminous Arc. It looks like FFT, but it has sexy girlies and music from MItsuda Yasunori (Chrono Trigger). Can't go wrong this Wednesday.

Ah, you know, it occurs to me that I never actually posted my pre-orders for August here. Heh.
Anyhoo, I ended up pre-ordering:
Wild Arms 5 (obviously. heh.)
and Persona 3

Just the killer B's for me this month: BioShock and Blue Dragon. Sorry Metroid Prime and Dusty Wii, once again you'll have to wait your turn on the sidelines. Maybe you'll get some playtime before GHIII arrives in October.

PSP is coming out with some good RPGs lately. There's Tales of the World, Riviera, Brave Story, and upcoming titles like Jeanne D'arc, Disgaea, and others. While FFTactics and Disgaea (and Riviera, now that I think of it) are more remakes than anything, the other games are totally worth checking out.
I already own a DS so I'm not trying to diss it really, but there aren't exactly many good RPGs available for DS unless you count Pokemon D/P (which is a good game, but it's just one game...).
Personally, I think the PSP is worth buying. However, I strongly suggest you wait until September to buy it, as that's when the redesign comes out.

I dont' do preorders but i do have 3 PS3 games gonna get this month prob.
Those are Madden 08, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam and the Warhawk Bundle with the bluetooth. I need a bluetooth for the PS3 so I might as well get the bundle. September will be Stranglehold Collectors because 10 extra bones for Hard Boiled on Blu-Ray that rules. Maybe Lair and for sures Heavenly Sword.
Looking down the rest of the year for the PS3. I'm gonna get Folklore, Ratchet and Clank, Assassin's Creed and maybe Rock Band or GH III. OH yea and Singstar :P. For some reason I want that game I have no idea why.

Ooh, that reminded me, I'm definitely getting Assassin's Creed and possibly also Folklore for PS3. I had those on my list but I forgot them for some reason. And yeah I'm getting Stranglehold on PS3 for the Hard Boiled inclusion. Chow Yun Fat FTW. :D

That was my thought as well, and it explains why I haven't already bought one. Still, FFT was one of the big reasons for buying one, and after seeing some gameplay videos which show Agrias' and Gafgarion's sword techniques taking for-fucking-ever to work, I think I might pass on it. (I mean, even potions slow the game down!) It's a seriously sloppy port.
Found out that TOSE did the work, who also somewhat botched the job on FF4A (battle system slowdown and bugs) but did an amazing job on FF5A and a mostly awesome job on FF6A. You know what other game was developed by TOSE? Rocket Slime. And that's the best DS game ever. So go figure.
