so if this is in the right section I'd love to know what people think of these. I think some of them are farily hilarious...I especially love the one with the major from ghost in the shell talking about boots with the tag line ani-marriage so hilarious!

What is it with all the really odd topics nowadays...(stops right there before uglyness rears ugly head in all its uglyness glory).

Anywho, here's my 0.02,
1. I don't think this belongs here, it has nothing to do with R1 or General Anime, it's just an advertisement for godsakes and seems like spam, but that's how I see it.

2. I don't watch AniMonday, since it has nothing I'm interested in on. It sounds like really corny ads. Worse than those Head-On commercials. Sci-fi is probably trying to be funny, but they are ultimately failing.

That's my 0.02 on this to, now to go lurk again now. I feel like my IQ dropped and lost dignity when I responded to this, but meh, I don't think I had any to begin with.

Yeah, while the original poster could be 100% genuine in his or her topic(it does sound kind of funny), anymore you just get the feeling with some posts that there is more behind them.

I won't go as far as to bring out my "viral marketing is viral" phrase, but something smells lately and I just changed my pants..

An overactive intestinal tract certainly does suck.
:P Frankly, I really don't see any signs of a conspiracy. Perhaps Chris Beveridge is suffering from multiple personality disorder and coming onto AoD with different usernames depending on his personalities?

It wouldn't be Chris as I'm sure he has better things to do with his free time. There was a really good article a while back on how PR companies and even companies entirely devoted to this line of work do things. You bring someone in and get them to be a member of the community then start posting things like "hey check this out from so and so", or "wow, this movie is great, go see it!". Obviously it's easy to tell, especially with our league of posters if something smells funny.

Still though every time you see something like this or a couple other recent threads it makes you wonder.

Giving the OP the benefit of the doubt that he actually wants to know...I personally think they are all extremely stupid and ill-conceived. None of the anime titles are ever identified in the ads, so unless you already know what they are (meaning you've probably already seen it), how the heck are you supposed to know if you have any interest in seeing it? The stupid jokes made in the ad dubbing certainly does not make me interested at checking out the time slot at all. Considering how much I watch Sci-Fi, especially during the weekend B movie marathons, I wish they would replace them with ads that actually said "ohh, look what we are showing" instead of some dog from some anime show complaining about a cat licking itself.

I thought that was what anime is all about...cats licking themselves... :P

I could not agree more. I have friends who do not anime, but do watch the Sci-Fi channel with some regularity. The first couple of calls from them confused the heck out of me. I actually had to watch for the commercials because the dialog they quoted did not help at all. After seeing it, I had to call back my friends and explain what was really going on. Suffice it to say, these first impressions have not motivated any of them to watch (most are wary of anime and this ad campaign has not helped in the slightest).

I mean use actual quotes from the anime. A good quote will instantly make the listener recall and identify the subject. Think about: "I'll be back." or "Yippee-kai-ye-motherfucker." or "Adrian!" (Sorry can't think of any memorable ones from the ones showing on Sci-Fi right now other than the named moves in Street Fighter.

ok I'm not a spammer but if you want to lock this thread admins feel free...I have made other posts and been here for a good long while. I found some of them funny in the same way the daily show is funny. I posted it on the Region 1 area as it is an american show and no one in europe or japan would have any idea what I was talking about.

Noein is very good as was solid state society *shrug* I don't think they should have showed street fighter though that was not a good choice.

Yeah, they raided Manga's back catalog when it came to getting enough anime to show. Street Fighter is horrible in anything but game form.

I'm not a company plant but I find the Ani-Monday bumpers pretty humorous. Sure they don't tell you anything about the show but at least they entertain and are uniquely bizarre. I only wonder how much mileage they have left, since they produce so many each week.

Cheese & rice, some of us here really need to get the sand cleaned out of our cracks. Relax a lil' bit, why don'cha?

I think they're funny. I'm watching Noein (already seen it) & Tokko (1st viewing), & I watched GitS: SSS (1st viewing). Street Fighter, no thanks.

There are a few things I dislike about Sci-Fi as far as how they're airing the shows. As violent as Tokko is, censoring the language in it comes across as a real misplacement of priorities. If I'm mature enough to watch a person (lots of them, actually) get hacked to pieces, I'm mature enough to hear a few dirty words.

They crush the closing credits to run ads at the same time, & the ad audio runs over the closing music. They insert extra ad breaks when there should be only one; anime uses a two act format, not three.

Do Not Want.

Back to the bumpers, the only one I dislike is the one that takes a jab at [as]. For all its failings, [as] does a better job with its anime.
