I had sworn someone started one but... what the heck. Might as well.
I've heard many... interesting... things about this show, so I figure I should give it a shot.
Official site (http://www.potemayo.com/)
ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7449)'s entry on it.
Thoughts on episode 1 coming up in a reply to this post.

Episode 1:
- I fell in love with Mikan's hair long before the OP was over. The gradient style works in a bright, simplistic show like this, and the color is just awesome. She hasn't spoken a line yet and I'm utterly convinced she's the best character in the show.
- So Sunao wakes up one day, finds a strange little blob of cute in his fridge, and names it potemayo after the potato and mayonnaise something or other he was eating at the time. Thus the premise is set :sd:
- Potemayo becomes an instant hit at school, at least with the girls who find it adorable. The boys are convinced it's a harbinger of doom...
- Mikan is Kawasumi Ayako <3 Now I know she wins. Shs's also in love with Sunao, which doesn't sit well with Potemayo, who considers Sunao to be her possession.
- Potemayo eats Mikan's lunch, and to make it up to her, Sunao offers to buy her bread. He says she can pick whichever one she likes best. And so... she reaches out and grabs his sleeve XD This results in Potemayo raping her face for about thirty seconds XD
- Potemayo trying to say Sunao's name is adorable. Su-nyao! Su-nyao!
- So, Potemayo apparently can pick up and read Mikan's love-thought waves. This results in her flipping out every time Mikan is happy.
- Wahhaa XD Sunao misinterprets Mikan's double bento lunch as gluttony, rather than the more obvious fact that she wants him to have it. She manages to fantasize this into something positive (oh, a grain of rice on your cheek!), squees hard, and faints right into another girl's lunch XD And while Potemayo hates Mikan, she sure likes Mikan's lunches.
- Sunao sees the bird earing the egg based food, and comments "cannibalism..." heh. Then the bird shits on Potemayo's head >_>
- Back at Sunao's house, Guchuko arrives. And slices through the fridge with its scythe >_> But... fixes it up with tape XD Then does the same thing to the front door, bwhahaha
- GUCHUKO JUST TAPED THE CANDY BACK TOGETHER XD AHAHAHA XD Also, BEAM CANNONS!
- Kyou finds Guchuko and manages not to get fried, and also gets Guchuko hooked on the truffles she made. And Guchuko is in love...
- Guchuko expresses her love by leaving a whole slaughtered pig on Kyou's desk >_>
- And Kyou officially names Guchuko.
Wow the ED is a lot nicer that I expected. The whole ep in general was. Very nice surprise, I'm so in.

Episode 2:
- I swear to god I would watch a show entirely about Mikan's hair.
- Muttan... wants to touch Potemayo. He, uh, is obsessed with trying to find out how punipuni fuwafuwa fluffy bouncy soft etc she is. And I think his friend wants to "touch" him >_> "Did you hear about that Bro-somethingorother-Mountain movie in America? Friendship between men is a great thing." XD
- Ok, maybe Muttan wants a bit more than that o_O
- O_O He goes to touch Potemayo, she shows her scary face, he.... um... pisses himself :sd: Next time around, he winds up scaring Potemayo, who... pisses all over Sunao, whose head she's perched on :sd:
- This, uh, results in Muttan and Sunao having to switch into Muttan's PE clothes... aka, skirts O_O He's a member of the male cheerleading club... Good lord XD
- Sunao is hilarious in his skirt. When he's conscious of it, even the guys get all moeified over him XD And he scares the shit out of one in the men's room :sd:
- Potemayo with no pants o_O 'O_o' is pretty much my reaction to most of the things that happen in this show.
- Oh man, Nene asks Mikan what she likes so much about Sunao, and Mikan launches into this longwinded explanation about how he's like a strong young deer growing up to be a mighty stag XD Mikan is amazing. She does the same in the bath that night, and blathers on so long she passes out from the heat.
- Second part! Sunday. Potemayo does the panpanpanpan dance!
- And gets abducted in the grocery store by a little girl o_O
- I like how it's not until two months later that Sunao starts wondering wtf Potemayo is. =P
- He stops by Mikan's family grocery store, and of course she's wildly aroused that he's visited. After Potemayo and Mikan's father have a breath-holding contest, Mikan gives Sunao an extra two apples, on the house, with his order. He appreciates it, and smiles at her. Which causes her to have an explosive nosebleed and wind up in the hospital for blood loss :sd:
- Sunao starts cutting up chicken for curry, when the little bird that lives in Potemayo's hair looks at him. You'd think it was accusaing him, but... no, it wanted to eat too :sd: Cannibal bird!
- Sunaro and Potemayo are so cute together :sd: Well until she wets the bed again.
- Potemayo with no pants o_O
... proving that she really is just a cute blob.
How'd this thread die out? This show was great. Too bad she doesn't eat jellybeans.

Just fell behind as I got caught up on other things. It's on the to-do list, but not a priority.

I remember when I was in Akihabara back in September, some places were looping the Comiket episode of Lucky Star, but one place had Potemayo on and it was almost as funny :)

Amen. I can't count how many times I laughed with all my heart during this show. The first DVD special is one of the funniest things I've seen all year.

I would have been much happier with the show had it been called Guchuko. A tsunyandere moeblob is much more interesting than a straight-up moeblob. To me, anyway. All the parts I actually laughed at involved Guchuko somewhere. The Potemayo focused stuff was usually a trial to sit through.
Considering all the Guchuko-only stuff I found on Youtube, I'm not the only one thinking this way, either ^_^

I loved this! Love, love, LOVED it. It's hilariously funny, with loads of varied characters, and has actually made me start saying "honi honi!" quietly when trying to calm myself down or express appreciation for something or someone. My favourite bits of the show are Potemayo dancing, Guchuko taping up everything they slash through with their scythe, and the part of episode six called "The Beautiful Life of a Slave: Potemayo's Version", particularly when Potemayo is dancing in the middle of those wobbling chocolate topped puddings. I love the bright colours of the show, it's a delight visually with Shichiro Kobayashi's art direction and the quality of the animation. Other highlights include the "Brokeback Mountain" and "Alexander the Great" hint dropping from Kaoru about their attraction to Mudo, Potemayo sliding across the floor of the baths on her shampoo covered stomach and breasts, and the cannibalizing chick. I also like Mikan's unabashed attraction to Sunao, all delirious aroused fantasy and nosebleeds (nice to see a sexual as well as romantic element to crushes had by girls for a change, which is also shown with Tomari, who is a wonderful character as well, and reminds me a little of Tsubaki from His and Her Circumstances) mixed with endless affection and adoration. I like Potemayo's boundless affection for Sunao too, they turn into a squealing, giggling ball of happiness around them, and just generally the series is good for portraying the pleasures of friendship and love. Guchuko's hidden love for Kyo was a delight to watch as well, seeing them gradually become more trusting. I was a little unsure about the portrayal of Morio, the helper from one of the episodes about Sunao's mother, as they were a bit of a stereotype, I liked them, they were nice, just that they were portrayed as not being observant enough to know their own strength. I really liked the way they developed Sunao's father as a character, and as a lot of shows have a character die in a dramatic incident, it was good to see a realistic portrayal of the prolonged sadness of watching someone you love gradually become weaker and weaker from illness and then die, while also recognizing there can be times of happiness up to the end. I wonder why the DVD specials aren't listed on ANN? Oh well, I'll try and watch them anyway. I thought the show wrapped up well too, what with the flowers eventually producing "seeds".
It looked like cute fun, but this show just fell of my radar for some reason. Judging by the enormous number of posts in this thread I clearly am not the only one.

Yeah, absolutely a great show. Funny, charming, etc. I actually considered putting a Potemayo figure in my fridge. :P No wait, I didn't say that..

In my case, it wasn't that it fell of the radar per se. It's more that after trying two to three episodes of the series, I lost interest in it. Something about it felt off to me. Although it has been a long time since I dropped it. Still it is interesting to see at least some found enjoyment in it.
