View Full Version : The 'AnimeNetwork' channel. For those of you who have it...

I know that many cable companies carry the 'AnimeNetwork' for their viewers. In my case...the cable company I have 'IO' has it as an 'OnDemand' channel that I subscribed to.
Currently...they have different sections.
Action Zone
Bento Beat Box
Giant Robots
Girl Power
Super Happy
I tend to stick with 'Action Zone' and I flip to 'Girl Power'.
Currently going ape shit for 'Air Gear'(I am Agito/Akito)...'Gantz'...and 'Phantom Memory Kurau'.
On 'Girl Power'...I would have to say that 'Le Chevalier' has me rather captivated. It had me doing research on my own French roots. Heh...
So...with those of you who do have this Network channel...what series or channel has you most interested and why?
:)

I have Comcast and it's also available in the On-Demand service. But we don't have categories like yours, just one big list. I'm only watching Air Gear. I'm a little disappointed they skipped episode 4, though, but I picked up what was happening in episode 5 fairly quickly.
I'll probably just buy the DVDs eventually. The series isn't half-bad, though I could do without the ecchi.

Yep. Comcast does carry 'AnimeNetwork'. I do love 'Air Gear'. I enjoy listening and watching 'Agito/Akito'.
Is 'Air Gear' the only series you are following off of 'AnimeNetwork'?

Pretty much. I saw the first episode of Maburaho but those kind of series aren't my thing, so I won't be watching the rest. Same goes for Air TV.
I would be watching the Get Backers, but something happened and they sort of skipped like 10 episodes or something and I never caught up since last year.

You're making a very very big mistake.

Yeah, I know, Air high kicks into melodrama with death and all... but I can't take it seriously with those character designs. It just isn't my thing.

'Air' does look neat. It reminds me of the 'DN-Angel' series. Sounds like 'Dark Mousey' anyways.
Also...as I mentioned..'Le Chevalier' is really neat. Off of 'Girl Power'. 'Gantz' is pretty neat and right now..'Phantom Memory Kurau' is a really awesome series.
Hits me personally.

I'm actually buying Chevalier D'Eon, and indeed, it's an awesome series. (And the packaging is truly noteworthy!) I wish it had more buzz, we need more series like that one over here.

I am listening to the ending song 'Overnight' by Aya on my PC. The joys of finding full length anime series MP3's.
:)
I would have to admit..outside of the series 'Noein'...'Le Chevalier' is a great series. The relationship between De'on and Lia...I think of my own brother and our connection as kids and now...adults.

I have Comcast and it's just one list and I watch new Le Chevalier D'eon or however it's spelled and Air both of which I'm enjoying and intend to pick up whenever a thinpaks released for em. Outside of that though I either have the shows or just have no interest in seeing em.

I don't really watch The Anime Network very much any more. Like some people said, for some reason they skip episodes of shows or they only show the first episode and nothing else, so it's hard to get into it. Anime Selects is much better in terms of consistency for me.

I have Comcast, and mine are actually grouped up under the Anime Selects section. A few are singled out, such as GTO, Escaflowne, and SuperGALS! 2 (which I wish had the first episodes currently available, I hate picking up series partway through), but then there are some under headings such as "Wicked Anime," "Sci Fi" (something like that) and "Drama Club."
Clearly SuperGALS! 2 is subtitled, but I wonder about the rest of them. I know when they had Utena on a few months ago (this is only the second time I've looked at the On Demand menu in the past 14 months) it was the dubbed version.
Okay, just did a bit more exploring and found "Anime Network" in my On Demand as well. $3.99 to view a volume of something? O_o; No thank you. Especially since the options were: Moeyo Ken TV vol 3, Paniponi Dash vol 5, UFO/Valkyrie 2 vol 3, and Utawarerumono vol 4. That's it? :\ And that's pretty pricey for essentially a rental. I used to rent my anime for just $1-$2/DVD back when I lived in a different city, and now I have Netflix.

I have Comcast and Anime On Demand and it too is in just one big list. I also get that Anime Selects thing and Adult Swim On Demand which shows some anime in the action section. I don't ever really bother to watch it. Most of the shows they have I've either already seen, don't really care about, or I missed their airing of episode 1. And ADV's dubs can be hit or miss with me. I think the last show I watched on demand was subtitled Escaflowne on Anime Selects, but I've already seen it all, so I just watched the first episode for the hell of it.

I don't have any of the anime-specific channels :( . Hopefully DirecTV will pick one or more up soon. I really miss G4TV's "Anime Unleashed" segment, it exposed me to several shows that I had not seen before.

Apparently the answer is yes because I can't tell who you are. In all seriousness I'm starting to think it's just a case of saving time by skipping out the extra step of pressing the home button in order to reply to the right post.
As for the topic at hand. I don't have access to the channel. I have the On Demand channel and viewed stuff by way of the free zone. Not that it matters since Cox on Demand never works... :sd:

I have Time Warner, and I just had digital cable installed for the first time a week ago. We have Anime Network in free On Demand, but it looks like I don't get some of the shows that others have with other providers... hmm. I saw the first two episodes of Air, and I can't wait for the rest. I'll definitely be buying there.
Is Anime Selects another On Demand channel? I've never heard of it, and I can't find it in my lineup. The only anime channels I knew about were Anime Network and Funimation Channel.

At home I have both but stick to the linear channel and most of the time I enjoy Old School and of course... Giant Robots blocks. O.O
And Yes Fence, I can see you ;)

Yes, Anime Selects is another On Demand channel, but it's owned by Comcast, so unless you have that cable company you probably don't get it.

Honestly...if I prefer to type in italics and in green...that is my perogative...mate.
For now...'IO' provides a decent amount of anime on the AnimeNetwork. I am not sure...but I dont' see any skipped episodes. Perhaps each individual cable company ends up displaying the channel and episodes differently?
I have yet to see any episode missing on my list. I guess it differs for each cable company that provides the AnimeNetwork.,
Also...I did have DirectTV and for the two and a half years...they never provided anything related to anime(outside of Cartoon Network/AdultSwim).
One of the reasons why I switched. Plus...Verizon and out-sourcing was driving me insane. Heh...

And its god damn obnoxious. Also, its probably damn hard to see on some of the other skins.
All its going to do is annoy people, and eventually you will be asked by a moderator to cut it out.

Okay then if you want to know for certain. Well to be honest after testing out the various skins. It seems both Argon and Radon require a bit more effort. While the real problem may be with Chill. However the other skins seem fine to me. Note I'm not taking sides here.
I mainly just wanted to say the results of an actual test as opposed to just speculation. Still this whole thing about certain colored text not working well on some skins does kind of make it a deterrent to use colored text, but then again I mainly use it for the sig.
Either way maybe I'm crazy, but while I do find the whole green text thing to be kind of silly it doesn't bother me that much. Although using it too much does kind of make the whole idea of colored text less special. Although clearly based on various threads it does bother several here a lot.

Its 6.99 a month here for on-demand, there is some stuff I'm interested in, still thinking if its worth it. It'll give me a good chance to take a look at some series I can see if their worth it or not.

I refrained from using the green font text in previous posts. I was asked kindly to no longer use the green font...so I have.
My response was caused by being attacked here on AoD...so my patience was lacking. Perhaps not patience...but my tolerance level is low for certain things.
I am unable to clear the former posts with the green font....but I'll continue to use this so that it doesn't boggle the vision of others.
**Thank you for that bit of info. This is in regards to the post above mine.**

It's not that you're invisible, it's that I don't really give a rat's ass how you think this thread should proceed.
Unless I'm out of line, & you actually are in charge of this thread? If so, my apologies.
To the OP, I think green italics are all fine & good. I know it's you immediately. Magenta italics, that might be difficult for me.

But do you have to be rude about it when people sometimes make an honest mistake? Some people are human, you know.

In general I think it's built up frustration because it happened like multiple times in a row and each time to his own post. It's true that some people do make a mistake and that's not deniable. However others are simply being lazy and don't care. The problem is a frustrated person will view everyone as the latter.

**Thank you and I meant to comment on your avatar as well a week or so ago. Very nice**
I refrained from using the green italics. It seems that many are bothered by it or it seems to throw their visual off. The last thing I want is for someone to suffer a case of Vertigo due to my choice in font color and italics.
I use green for it happens to be my favorite color. I mention that within my AoD "bio".
In any case...as far as many being rude on this site...I've encountered enough badgering and ill mannered behavior to no longer continue with certain topics on this site. I'm just glad that a few asked me kindly enough to refrain from the font color and italics. I am grateful to them for their mannerisms.
With 'AnimeNetwork'...they do place new episodes faster with a certain series than another. I know that every other week they put up a new episode of 'Air Gear'...but with 'Phantom Memory Kurau'...a new episode goes up every Friday. In any case...I'm not too bothered by it.
I enjoy the channel and what it has to offer me. I'm pleased and satisfied.
