View Full Version : Used R2s?

Does any online store (not auction site) sell used R2 DVDs? Even Japanese stores that are willing to ship overseas?
Used book/manga/DVD/etc stores are *so* popular in Japan. It would be a shame if that didn't translate to the internet.
(I'm trying to avoid spending $1000 on the 3 Hime-chan boxes. Otherwise I'll be forced to sell my kidneys on the black market :P)
Mods: Please move to retail if more appropriate for that forum. :)

Basically what Sensuifu said.

I've bought used DVDs from Anime Jungle before and they came well packaged and were in the condition that they listed them as (near mint).
I'm afraid I have no experience with the marketplace sellers on Amazon.jp, but as I know your knowledge of Japanese is up to it, that's another possibility to explore, though not all of the sellers there may be willing to ship overseas.

Alas, most of the (good) used R2 DVD shops I visited in Japan were either the local used Toy/Manga/Video shops or the various Liberty (http://www.rakuten.co.jp/liberty/info.html) stores in Akihabara or Ikebukuro. (Neither of which ship overseas.)
The only other option I can think of of the top of my head besides ANime Jungle would be Mandarake (http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/index.do) but I've never spent much time with their English site or internet shops in general.

99.99% of the people in the marketplace won't sell overseas. I've known people who know Japanese who've been able to contact the marketplace sellers and have them sell to them however. I think the main reason they won't do overseas is the language barrier.

Mandarake are fabulous, but they don't get a lot of DVDs. I suspect their main clientele are more into "objects".

Animejungle are the best. I've bought CDs, DVDs & LDs from them. Their condition descriptions (done in a table) are accurate as well.
They only ship EMS outside Japan, but its worth it. Items are well packed. AJ also has a lookout service if you're looking for a rare release.

Sometimes, given their prices, you are better off going the deputy service route. Something like Shopping Mall Japan (http://www.shoppingmalljapan.com). SMJ now offers to buy things from websites now as well as Yahoo Auctions Japan.
