The GTSC can take up to 20 coaches this years. The sign-up window will be about 2 weeks long, but will review how we stand on September 4th to see if we need a few extra days. The GTSC only needs even number of teams so its easy to set up. Oh and order of sign-up makes no difference in order of draft.

Final Five Archetypes
1. Cheeky – A chick that is offensively bold and overly confident in ones self.

3. Apathetic – One that lacks strong human emotions, motivation, or enthusiasm.

4. Hentai – Nymph with abnormally strong and/or perverse sexual desires.

5. Vicious – Dangerously aggressive female able or disposed to inflicting pain or suffering on others.

7. Jealous – She which is resentful, envious, or suspicious of rival influences.

2. Sign up for up to 16 teams will be open until Sept 4th. Note I only really need a even number of teams so after 5 days we will see where we are.

3. Announce seven possible archetypes. Last years possible archetypes were: Mature, Tomboy, Inhuman, Wallflower, Angelic, & Devilish.

4. Determine draft order (randomly by me) and set up the rounds in snaking order.

5. Six rounds of drafting with each coach given 24 hours to pick. Any missed picks will go to the penalty round at the end of the draft order.

Note all characters drafted must be a female or female inclined character. No crossdressers or sexaully ambiguous characters.

6. Once drafting is done the five archetypes that will be used in the tourney are revealed. Last years played archetypes were: Tomboy, Inhuman, Wallflower, Angelic.

7. Will announce the team matchups for each round. There will be four rounds each four days long. All polls in round play will be open as long as you vote in the poll.

8. Coaches will then have 48 hours to send in their via PM lineup for each of the five archetypes. Giving each coach time to look at their opponent's roster. This is repeated for each round and each coach can change their lineup each time.

9. Points will be scored from the percentage of votes a players gets in each poll they are in and added to their respective teams. There are no tie breakers as they are just 50 point scores.

10. The top scoring 4 teams in each pool will go onto the pool finals (going by record, then points, then overall votes received). Each coach may send any character on their team into each pool type they place in the top four in. So if a team gets into the top four in three archetypes they may send a player of their choice into the three different pool finals. Of course the players must be different.

11. Pool finals will be closed polls five days long, so no one will know the results until the polls close to create suspense.

Not done this myself, but it sounds pretty straightforward.

-Organiser specifies 7 possible traits.
-You pick 6 girls based on those possibilities, taking it in turns with the other teams.
-Organiser confirms which 5 traits are being used.
-You put different girls into different "traits" and voters vote for which girl best matches that specific trait.

Ape will give 5-6 (maybe more) characteristics in an anime character. Last year, it was if I remember along with the four there which was Tomboy, Angelic, Wallflower, and Inhuman, there was also Devilish and Mature.

Then whoever had signed up were randomly given a position of when they could draft. Last year it was 5 drafts.

So let's say you got number 1. You drafted first for the first round but then last for the 2nd round. Then first for the third, last for the fourth and 1st for the fifth to make it fair on all the participants.

During those drafts you then choose any female character you want in any anime. However, the best ones are ones that can both fit more than one of those architypes OR really popular ones which fit one architype completely. For example, Belldandy was the overwhelming Angelic winner - but the risk is if Angelic hadn't been picked, it would be hard to draft Belle. One of the first drafts last year was Haruhi Suzumiya, someone destined to win Devilish, but as it was never included, Haruhi, one of anime's most popular characters, wasn't used as it was felt she couldn't do well fitting any of the architypes.

Then you face another draftee's choice at random and people will vote for which one they fit bests the architype (or which one they like better). After 3 (4?) rounds whoever has the 4th best results in terms of first wins, then points and then votes (I think) goes through to the final where a final poll is conducted. At the end, whoever scores the most points overall wins (of course, you could be eliminated completely if none of your team makes the final four in any of the rounds at the end...)

Last year, you got 5 choices and 4 of the six architypes were chosen but you didn't know which ones were chosen until the draft was completed and Ape used his magic sac o randomness to pick the architypes. So basically you have to pick 5 (maybe 6 this year) girls, use the architypes as a way to think ahead and whether to use popular ones which fit well straight away (risky for multi-entries but if the right architype comes up, you're a shoo-in) or ones which could fit multiple.

To give you a demonstration, I'll explain how I voted last year.

I believe there was 16 people in the draft and I was drafted 4th. I recall Ryoko (Tenchi Muyo), Haruhi and Mikuru (MoHS) drafted first.

My first draft was Kino from Kino's Journey as a favourite for the tomboy category but also an emergency mature character if necessary. My next draft would be 12th in round 2.

My second pick was Sora from Kaleido Star to fit Angelic who got to the finals. She was an emergency tomboy as well.

My third pick was Hinata from Naruto to find Wallflower and emergency Angelic. This is where voting can fail you as Naruto isn't that popular around here and Hinata was beaten all three times by Shinobu (Love Hina), Rei (Eva) and Yuki (MoHS).

My fourth was Mizuho from Onegai Teacher to fit mature and emergency inhuman. Mature however didn't turn up and had to put her in Inhuman where if I recall, she was subsequently destroyed all 3 rounds. :sd:

My last pick was the one I didn't use - it was Dokuro from Blood to Death Angel Dokuro-chan. She was my Devilish entry (as aside from Haruhi I couldn't think of anyone else). In truth, she would have been a better inhuman pick, but my strategy was that Mizuho was a lot more popular. I think either way I was screwed in Inhuman anyway...

Cool beans, glad to have you on board!

While Fudce & Spirit of the Stage covered the basics very well I should mention a few things that can twist and turn around.

First each round you will meet up with a different randomly picked team. You then pick which of your players you want to matchup in the five different archetypes. This is important because it can be different each round. This saved a few players in the Boys of Summer tourney as they either made a mistake the first round or replaced a poor performer to try to at least make up team points. Remember even in losing you can do well enough for your overall team standing.

Second the finals are different then the rounds. It will be a four way battle royale. Plus instead of just one poll asking which player best fits the discription. The archetype will be split up into four aspects polls with one twist aspect to the archetype. While you have to fight for point against more players there will be more points up for grabs and so are important to the overall team standings.

Don't worry to much as it is rather easy for you as you just need to pick your lineup.

PS please do come up with cool, qurky, or obsence team name since this is a team competition.

I finally came up with a team name.

It was to decide between one that makes an reference that will probably be obscure to some people (although I have a feeling Spirit of the Stage would get it) and one that may sound dirty (when really I was referring to a meme inspired by a recent anime series. In the end, I decided to go with the "dirty" name.

With that in mind, I christian my 2007 team as The Sausage Girls (a nod to how the it appears that the first line of the Lucky Star OP sounds like "I buy sausage").

BTW, the other name that I was thinking about using (the one with the refernce that may be too obscure) was Daisy Lovers Girls.

There are none as any female character in all genres of anime are fair game (barring last years finalist).

Anyways who said anything about the character having to be from a hentai show? I can think of a few females in this archetype that aren't graphically dipicted. And since Hentai the anime genre is such a niche it might be better served to find a girl that is more mainstream if you catch my drift.

PS I'm just using Hentai as a Japanese term for Nympomanic and not the anime genre. Same thing I did for Ecchi in the 2006 Boys of Summer tourney.

Now for a deeper question...is there something strange going on with this list?

Good, very good indeed. I warned some in the BOS that the GTSC was going to be hard this year. I guess its because the source for the list is not too popular in anime in general.

Yeah. This year is going to be brutal. I'm going to have to be REALLY creative in my drafting. Finding characters that fit multiple archetypes is going to be tough.

Going to be hard to pick this year, the categories are going to be wonky. I almost decided not to play again, but that, and the fact that all the finalists from last year are off the table, should make things VERY interesting. Though if you had said to me my Maggie Mui would be off the table, and Haruhi would still be a available pick for this year I would have thought you were crazy... O.O

These Archetypes are getting pretty tough now. Ive lined up a few girls for each but one or two are going to be obvious favourites so it all depends when I get drawn :sd: .
Now I need to get back looking for some trump cards.
Its going to be fun.

While having the archetypes covered is a good thing another little problem you will face is prioritizing which ones you should nab first. The BOS and GTSC are very different then say the Aniem Draft. Different coaches will make runs at different archetypes. Since archetypes play a huge role popularity doesn't alway equate to wins. Don't get me wrong it helps but most veteren members here can agree the finalist in both tournies were fairly legit and deserving even if some teams were forced to play the popularity card out of desperation.

Okay at the moment we are at 15 teams and I just raised the limit to 20 (must be insane O.O O.O O.O )! Hopefully all the lessons and shortcuts learned in the 2007 BOS will work for me in the much larger 2007 GTSC.

So here is whats going to happen:

Sign up will close tomorrow at either the 20 coach limit or some time after 3 pm PST once we get an even number of teams.

If I have any Private Topics with any of you I will be deleting them. Don't worry about this.

I will then reveal the 7th possible archetype. Then create the drafting order.

On the 5th I will create a PT with each coach with the drafting order info.

Please don't delete this PT! It will be used throughout the tourney for any info that will be exchanged between us, Including On The Clock, absentee drafting, team matchup announcements, and team line up.

I will then create a 2007 GTSC Draft Board thread and start the clock on the first team at 5 pm PST.

This will be floating thread since it should be able to stay afloat with all the drafting activity and chat. But it might be wise to make it a favorite to be sure. Of course I will do my best to keep it up to date before and after work.

Oh and like the past once the thread is up the drafting can begin just the clock won't offically start until 5 pm PST.

Okay I will be creating a PDF draft board but if anyone is up to the challenge a draft web site would be great. I just won't have enough time to do it myself.

I'd like to see a few simple archtypes: like Dead/undead, Hyperactive, and disability or disabilty with references (ex. Blind, Deaf, missing limbs or organs ex. (Eyes, Tongue, or heart)). those would be some neat ones. I don't know if they have been done though. Or if these things would even fit in the category of archtypes at all.

Nope I don't think there would be except for the dead/undead because of all the vampires and ghosts (if you call a spirit dead/undead). Yes it would be very very scary!! with the Disabilties :> and the chaos would be great and I would happily observe it and not partcipate. :D

My guess if I did something like that I would run it as Supernatural. And the infirmed one as Weak with some defination clariety. And Hyper active has been suggested as Genki along with Airhead/Ditzy. Yuri sure does seem tempting but thats another year away. Anyhoo keep any suggestions coming as I tend to plan things far out.

I know this might sound retarded But Ape have you ever thought of trying a occupations type of game where you would list a jobish type of thing, (I don't think that is a word just spelling it that way) instead of archtypes. examples: Bounty hunter, Mecha Pilot, Cook, Waiter, etc.

Interesting, while different types of games have been suggested like a racing game, fighting game in the past. I declined due to the huge amount of work needed behind the scenes for the Diva Open, Boys of Summer, and especially the Girl Team Series Championship. Add to the fact I due want to play in the Anime Draft (some how I missed the last one :grr: :grr: :grr: ) and I really can't run another game. So I try to perfect these games and make them annual events. Still you never know what I might do in the future...

Some thoughts: I had a feeling Apathetic would stay, since it seemed to stand out as a 'different' type; I should have paid more attention to drafting for it I think. The two that got tossed out hurt me, since I think I had some good ones for them, and now I feel a bit constrained. though I am sure everyone will feel that way to some extent. :sd:

Now, to send out the more popular character, or the one who suits the types best? Decisions, decisions... :D

Just out of curiousity, when is the first round of voting supposed to start?

If I get all the lineups early enough today then tonight I set up the polls.

After that I am shooting for 48 hours after the end of each round. I figure that would give all the coaches enough time to send in their lineups and me to set up the standings and the next round.

Each round will be four days long and open as long as you vote. Finals will be five days and closed for suspense.

I really have to say, I'm disappointed with the Format this year. I liked it more when there was 5 individual threads because its a lot easier to read.
But still, I LOVE that you put the time into the stuff Ape, its really awesome.

Can't be helped since I can only add a maximum of five polls per post. I know it a pain in the butte, believe me its harder for me too, but I can only work with what we got.

Yeah Hentai should be a good battle.
Out of all the people to face why do I have to come against you with Lucy in the vicious archetype :( .

Not only is Lucy owning the category but I have a poor choice of characters for the vicious archetype.
It is going to be a bloodbath with Lucy having her wicked way with the poor girl I put against her.

Ill have to make up the ground in the other categories but it is going to be a close one.

I'm up against the league leaders....ooh, not good...but...it does possibly have one of the most droolworthy matches in the tourney in apathetic - Yuki vs. Ruri. :horse:

As for the others, I am looking possibly at losses in nearly all - Vicious I'll get creamed if Chloe is let loose...get those knives away...Urumi, get your snakes out...

Misato might have a decent chance of winning in the Hentai battle. I don't see Miko Mido running away with this match this time around. This match should go down to the wire and be an interesting match no matter who wins it. :>

Okay Promity reminded me I was going to have a "Spotlight Player Profile" in this round. So all the coaches can send in their choice in the Coaches Lockerroom PT. The only rule is it has to be a diffrent someone different then their "Featured Player". Oh and don't worry if you forget or don't send one in, the tourney producers will pick one for you.

Got a lot of $hit hitting the fan today. I'm going to delay polls until tommorrow (providing the power doesn't go out during the wind storm).

I'm setting up as much as I can tonight so no changes to lineups now. All I can say is some of the teams are really gambling in this round.

I was tempted to gamble with my cast this round too, but in the end I played it safe.
For one category, I have a character who perfectly fits the letter of the description of the traits, but might not appear to fit the actual name of that trait. My fear was that people would just look at the trait, and not the "given definition" of that trait, and make up their minds.

Yes that was the only real shocker of the finals. Mami-chan was able to pull off the victory after barely making it into them. It was almost enough to grab you the crown with your three finalist against Foxfossil's two. But you were too much in a hole and his two were really good.
