I'm surpised nobody is talking about this here.

It's like Playing an anime. Plus one of my Favorite Dub Voice actors is in it (Vic Mignogna) Music is good the story is interesting and I think this is an RPG I might actually put the full 70 hours into. (I normally tend to not play RPGs)

My g/f has been playing it over the last 3 days, and she loves it so far. I'll get to it eventually, I just have quite a bit of games to play, like NGS, FFX, FFXI, VP2, Onimusha4, SH3, SH4, Fatal Frame 1 and 2, and the .hack games.

I'm actually just getting around to finally playing FES myself. (I can understand why they didn't include it since they were probably already finishing up on the coding of the original over in R1 land when FES originally dropped.)

The flow of the story and daily activities really is fun and quite different than the standard RPG fare as of late. I'm starting to think this will be the first RPG where I actually do care about more than 3 or 4 of my main party members back-story, etc and it is going to be really hard when it comes time to break down and decide on who to date.

That and I don't think I've ever had this much fun getting ready for mid term exams either. ^^;

There's a small section mixed in the general "what are you playing" topic. I got the 8th person hooked on this game, my gf. SHe can't put it down, she even passed me, lol. Anyone would past me, I can only play on the weekends due to time and people in my apartment

The soundtrack is outstanding, and I'm about to order the artbook from playasia.

Yep, yep, so we have been talking about Persona 3, it's just mixed around in various places.

...That and we're all busy playing Persona 3 >:D .

FUN game though. However... DYING FILLS ME WITH SO MUCH SHAME. So far, pretty much EVERY time I died it was due to my own stubbornness or stupidity. Gaaaa...

Still.... that's fun too in a way ;) .

I'm about to order the artbook from playasia.

It's a very solid artbook (though they seemed to have a few minor printing issues with some of the ink bleeding through he page a bit but it might just be my book too. Hardly anything that would force me to pass on it though.) All the awesome 2D Soejima Shigenori character designs (playable and community) and their various expressions are in there, along with a good bit of Persona designs and initial ground work sketches etc. as well.

Highly recommended if you're into that kind of thing.

I'd try and score Nocturne for less than that... it's a phenomenal game though. And the Digital Devil Saga series is also ridiculously good. Devil Summoner's a little weak... I enjoyed playing through it, but I sold it off because it isn't all that great. But yeah, DDS and Nocturne are awesome games and definitely worth buying, even at inflated prices (but $100? Yeesh.)

Really looking forward to playing Persona 3, it's one of only a handful of games left on the PS2 heading to the UK I want, the downside is it's not scheduled for release until Q1:2008.
And what with "them" really trying to kill off the PS2 market in the UK I wont be suprised if it never actually does get reelased.

A much lesser game but Ar Tonelico fell off of the release books and never happened here.

Amazon Price gouging at it's finest. I'm new to RPGs I played though most of Chrono Trigger back in the day but I never really had any console that was RPG heavy now that I have a PS2........and a limited amount of time. I only have so much time to log into RPGs. I dig Tales of Symphonia on Gamecube and Valkyrie Profile had an AWESOME battle system. So........hmmmm

where to go next.

I've only played 3, counting Persona 3. Nocturne and Devil Summoner. Nocturne was pretty awesome, although I havent finished playing it yet. Was playing on my ps3, and it liked to hang up on any atlus games. Now that the ps3 broke, and got shipped off back to Sony, and the ps2 was pulled out of retirement, I'll probably try starting over and finishing it.

Worth $100? I dont think any game is worth that much. But, it is a good game.

Devil Summoner was pretty good, but not as good as Nocturne (and certainly not as good as Persona 3). I havent had a chance to get real far in it yet tho.

All 3 have fairly different types of stories and sort of different gameplay, but all are fairly dark.

Right now, I'm somewhere in October, I think? Just finished up midterms in the second semester. Have explored something like 160 floors in the tower. Waiting on the next full moon to kill the "final" boss, although I'm going to go out on a limb and say the game continues on aftewards :>

It's been a long time since I was this addicted to playing a game before :sigh:

edit - Oh, I should add, I didn't buy either game off of ebay. They were just titles I saw occasionally in the used sections of gamestop and gamexchange. If you have either one of those close buy, I'd suggest checking in occasionally, or asking a clerk if they can locate a copy for you. I still see them on the shelves occasionally.

I was some what surprised that Soejima Shigenori actually did the designs for Soul Hackers, though looking back, maybe I should not have been. I only wished they had released that game in the US.

hehe, strangely enough, yes :P

Actually, it still worked fine most of the time. Mainly, when at the menu, or playing ps3 games. When it had trouble was when i tried playing ps2 games on it. When it would kick over from the menu to the ps2 splash screen, the machine would power down, beep at me 3 times, and the red light would blink. Would do it on any of the ps2 games I tried.

The service rep said the power down, beeps and light meant loss of power. But, I don't really know what the deal was.

I will say, in Sony's defense, their support/replacement was very fast. They sent me a new one instead of fixing the old one (just got it back today). I even managed to get a free network cable out of the deal.

Now, if they'd only get a decent game or 2, I might actually be happy with the purchase of that system :sigh:

Persona 2 is supposed to be excellent, but very, very difficult. I have the game, but haven't actually played it yet, so I can't say much more.

Persona 1 is garbage.

Says you. :P
Okay, maybe not only you, but I digress.

I enjoyed the first one enough, though I don't remember what the hell happened...I just remember enjoying myself more just wandering around the mall. :sd:

The one copy I found a year or so after playing it was too scratched up to play, and thus it went back.

As for 3, I'm enjoying it well enough...that is, until I got Bioshock. Now I'm trying to juggle two games, and it's just not working for me!

Absolutely none. The Shin Megami Tensei games are all standalone, with a couple exceptions. You absolutely must play Digital Devil Saga 2 after playing the first game, otherwise the entire story will be lost on you. Persona 2 is actually part 2 of the Persona 2 series. The first part, Innocent Sin, never came out in the US, but from what I hear, it's not really that imperative to the game, so you'll be fine.

Persona 2 IS a great game. I just wish I could finish someday XD ...

I thought I might be nearing the last parts of the game until I asked someone about it. "You still have a loooong way to go."

It was a sad day.

Nah, I like the game, it's just a lot of trouble and way to many things to handle sometimes. I'm glad Persona3 simplified things.

I hate it when people say that, especially when it is a game you are not enjoying.

Red Steel is a great example. I spent a good 5-7 hours into it, was on the 6th mission and asked on GameFAQs how far I am, thinking I was right by the end, only to find out that I had another 10 missions to go. I said screw it and got rid of it.

Are Persona 1/2/3 known by any other names internationally, as was the case with Nocturne being called Lucifer's Call here in the UK? This is the first I've heard of a SMT game called Persona...

Well, the Persona games weren't released in the UK, so that's probably the reason why you haven't heard of them :P . They've always been known as Persona... except the first one which was called "Revelations: Persona" in the US.

Persona 3, on the other hand, is due to be released by the end of this year in the UK from KOEI. I don't know what they'll call it though, presumably they'll drop the "3" and add a sub-title (since Personas 1 and 2 never came out here).

As with the menus and general layout of P3, the book uses a nice stylish layout with sliver fonts and lots of simple white backgrounds to let the artwork stand out. The human character sections and community stuff are very well laid out (with all the playable/main characters getting a good 4 or so page spread) The main persona are all in there as well, though they seem to be given much less room and are lumped together with other bosses etc.

The early production work is also a nice little addition. at 1600 Yen for 140 pages, the book is also pa pretty good deal. Highly recommended if you enjoy Soejima Shigenori's artwork for the series.
