I sure hope this hasn't been talked about here, but I just ran across one of the most, if not the most, creepy and (I hate to admit) a logical progression of the Anime obsessive. ;)
The live anime girl!
I present to you Anigao.com (http://www.anigao.com).
Sure, I found it creepy the first time I saw it, but it's growing on me. :D
I'm beginning to like the theatrics and the obvious effort this female performer is putting into this level of cosplay. I wonder if she made the mask or if it can be purchased?
Oh god the horror..
Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to one of those

Oh please, this is old news.
You aren't truly a member of the AoD community until you've set through several hours of the Happy Sabrina (http://sabrina.jp/) webcast.

No, I linked to that already.
There is, shockingly, many, many kigurumi sites.

Kigurumi is the devil's work, especially when you consider most of them are gonna be male under the masks.

I had to Wiki what the hell kigurumi is.
As much as I like anime, watching someone walking around in a plastic mask made to look like an anime character is not something I want.

This how Kasuga Ayumu (aka. Osaka) would look in the classroom. (http://www.filespace.org.nyud.net:8090/Vifam7/osaka10.jpg)
Here's Tomo. (http://www.filespace.org/Vifam7/tomo02.JPG)
I prefer it this way though. (http://www.filespace.org/Vifam7/live_action_azumanga.jpg)

DO WANT.
But seriously, this reminds me of the one episode of The Simpsons where that one sexy female mascot creature thing got its top half knocked off, and a guy was in it. Then Moe said, "Well, if you'd just put the top half back on..."

Good God! (or should that be "Oh my Gaah!"?) Ayame Blackburn lives! And I thiought the Killer 7 had finished her off too...
Those creep me out somethin' fierce. Cartoon Osaka - cute as a button, 'Real' Osaka - well, to quote the Homestar Runner, "that monster's gonna give me nightmares." :)
Seriously though, that's a little odd.

No, no. I believe this is something else, or at least, a variation. First of all you can plainly tell that the girl in anigao.com is actually a girl. No unpleasant surprises there. Furthermore, I found more information about what Anigao.com's actual purpose is. Please go read a posting at dannychoo.com (http://www.dannychoo.com/blog_entry/eng/989/Anigao+Girls/) where it explains it.
Now, personally, I didn't like the ones with the obvious flesh colored body suits. Those can hide the sex of the person under it. But, it's plain to see that the model in Anigao.com is female and, imo, she is doing a good job of it. (Maybe I'm liking it too much.)

It's still kigurumi, just a slightly (ever, ever so slightly) less creepy type.
Or in some ways, it's even creepier. Anime girls were never, ever meant to be seen in three dimensions >_>

I thought this was gonna be a thread about Apollo Smile.
Come to think of it, this is almost as disturbing.

Geez, someone found time to make another live action Azuma series hoax?
Still, it's kinda cute. I wish a live action AzuDai could be produced.

I dunno, that crap creeps me out, in a VERY uncanny valley sort of way.
And people wonder why the birthrate is down?!

No, no. I believe this is something else, or at least, a variation.
I'd classify it as a variation. Or I expect kigurumi purists would consider it exploitation.
Now, personally, I didn't like the ones with the obvious flesh colored body suits. Those can hide the sex of the person under it.
Heh, that's the point! Also for similar reasons kigurumi players don't talk, as the muffled, possibly (okay, probably) off-register voice would destroy the illusion.
So at the World Science Fiction Convention in Yokohama a couple weeks ago, one of the room parties was a kigurumi tea party. Now, some SF fans like to cosplay as Klingons or whatever and then go to the local McDonalds--a phenomenon referred to as "freaking the normals." The kigurumi tea party was pretty much turnabout, as the western SF fans wandered in, took one look, and left mewling, their minds shattered. It was awesome beyond the dreams of awesomeness.
If only for the way it blows apart so many westerners'* minds way out of proportion to whatever sort of cosplay it is, kigurumi totally justifies its existence!
*and most Japanese, for all I know.

Personally, this stuff is kind of cool . . . twisted and freaky but kind'a cool.
I'm not real big on the ones in the full-body suits either. I can appreciate the effort these people put into the charade though.
