Has anyone been able to pick this game up yet? I'm a big fan of Gundam games like the battle assaults and Fed vs Zeon, but I seem to can't push myself to grab it for 59.99 for my 360. I just need the nudge to go and buy it with some reviews in the yay's or stay away with nay's.

Yep, I've had Gundam Musou since it's Japanese release. I'm by no means a Gundam anime expert or Gundam game fan but I really enjoyed this. Mainly because of the G Gundam stuff but it plays well.

Does nothing new (if you've played any of the Dynasty Warriors or spinoff games then you know what to expect) but has a certain charm that the usual "3 families want to unite Aincient China" Dynasty Warriors games just don't offer.

There's a load of replayability too as you can play through the regular story modes for each character, play a sort of alternate timeline mode where characters from the series are mixed together and completing certain characters story unlocks more stuff like being able to play as the series bad guy, for example.

If you don't want to pay the full US retail price, I'd imagine the Japanese/Asian version can be found for pretty cheap now. No English text but as long as you can press square, you should be alright ;)

I saw the preview and all I could think was wtf...? Oddest crossover I've seen in a while. The formula has been stale for a while, so instead of getting creative their answer is to put out even more clones that play the same. Sadly enough I'll probably buy them all too because I can't seem to get tired of it.

Yeah but think about it from the devs standpoint. Take two of Japan's favourite things (Gundam and Musou games) and mix them. Perfect!

On that note, my personal wish would be to see either Sentai Musou, Kamen Rider Musou or a general Tokusatsu Musou.

Those were some of the things I needed to know. I am happy that it has a good replay value, that the alternate gundams can merge with other storylines. I forgot to ask on more question I did not see if it was 1 player only or if you can play multiplayer without going on Live. Thanks johnny for your help.

I'm a big sucker for Dynasty Warriors games, so I'll be getting this when it's released on the PS3 over here.

I wish I had a next gen system for this game (lol and others). How I would love to spend hours just destroying hundreds of mechs in my path with the graphics as they are. DW is a decent game to just kill everything in your sight, so I can imagine how this is with Gundams. One day I'll get a 360 or PS3...just kinda waiting till I get a monitor that has HDMI on it first...I can afford the systems, but it would seem to be a waste to play them on a SD setup. /sorry for going off topic/

Can't remember right now but I'm pretty sure it has one on one offline splitscreen multiplayer.
I do know that it has no online multiplayer.

From the videos, it looked as though the zakus didn't do much of anything or even try to fight back, is that true for those who played it?

Generally no, the enemies don't put up much of a fight. Having said that, there are hundreds of them and attacking a huge group leaves you open to an attack from behind.

The bosses on the other hand pose more of a challenge. Fair enough, you can run away mid fight and scour the level for energy pickups but for the most part they require a bit of skill. There's one scenario where the second or third level is a boss fight and an incredibly hard one at that since you're no way levelled up enough to take him on properly.

I also imported Gundam Musou back in March for my PS3, and absolutely love it. Great hack and slash style beat em up title, with excellent use of the Gundam license.

Hm, well I glad so far about that part, I'm guessing that boss is the "Lu Bu" of this crossover. :D

Well that makes me want to ask another question since the Zaku's seem to be the little pawns in the game. (except probaly the custom ones like Char's) and the Gm's for the feddies; in the other time lines are the Leo's or the Ginn's used like the zaku's I seen in the screen shots.

Nope. Only UC mobile suits. The non-UC Gundams are only used in this weird mashup timeline.

No online multiplayer, but pretty sure it has split-screen co-op (something that's been in damn near every DW game since 3...if not every DW game since 3... :sd: ).

Co-op is the only real way to play this game.

WAAAAAAAAAAAY more fun.

My roomie got this last night and I watched him play the "Official Mode" (UC-Timeline). It was pretty easy, for the most part. The bosses are REALLY tough, but if you get your health bar into the red-zone, your special attack meter fills automatically. You just have to run away until it's full and then get in close, bust out a special attack, and then fire thrusters to get away quickly. Keep it up, and you'll eventually win.

What the hell? I thought M$ was requiring games to be online. I know there are the rare exceptions like Guitar Hero 2 and Sneak King, but even the other two budget Burger King games worked online. Why can't DW Gundam, a game that would greatly benefit from online co-op, have it?

They do, in the US at least. Not in Japan though IIRC and I don't think if a Japanese game comes to the US/Europe which didn't have online play that it necessarily needs to have it implemented for the Western market.

Although online play doesn't have to mean multiplayer. It can be anything from leaderboards to downloadable content.

Well, that sucks hard. I might as well get this game for the PS3 to round out my PS3 collection a little bit. I'm not an achievement whore, and unless there are some serious problems with the PS3 version, I don't see any reason not to go that route.

Yeah, but even the XBLA Robotron had multiplayer. Poorly implemented, IMO, but it was still something. One player runs while the other shoots? WTF? I would've preferred to see two Eugenes running around. It's disappointing that DW Gundam gets shafted when an XBLA game that wasn't a good candidate for multiplayer got some attention.

Nope, the PS3 version is problem free (unless they've fucked up the US version).

Wow, this game has some terrible dialog. I remember playing as Kamille and he and Haman had a Newtype moment and she said something along the lines of, "It's rude to walk in on people's visions, especially with your shoes on." I promptly shut the game off and switched over to Bioshock.

Oh well that stinks. I was wondering the ones who bought the import was it very popular in japan to warrant a sequel? I really did like them usually this concept and hope they can expand the game through downloads or a new game.

Was it popular?

It become the best-selling PS3 game pretty much overnight, and stayed on the charts for a while.

I'm pretty sure there will be a sequel.

Yep, although obviously the PS3 user base isn't all that high (and was less back in March when the game came out), it sold well. Then again, this is Japan we're talking about. How can Musou + Gundam fail? :P

Yeah, it sold about 275,000 copies if I remember correctly. It's the second highest selling PS3 title, behind Minna no Golf 5.

I played the demo on the PS3 and it was fun, especially seeing the mashed together Gundam characters. If it is ever $20 in the US, I may buy it.
