Anyone else nab this? I got in a couple of hours on it Wednesday night and am in love with it. Really need to do some AoD group gaming on it...

I'm still on the fence. £20 for the DL is good but in all honesty I'd be going for the BD version if any.
I'd be a lot more interested with some sort of regular AoD group though.
One thing I've been meaning to ask about the game - obviously it's online only but is there any sort of training levels with bots etc? Seems a bit odd that you'd be thrown in the deep end with regards learning controls etc in the middle of an online match.

I picked up the Blu-ray version the other day. I played the beta quite a bit, so I've been long familiar with the game play, and it's just as fun as it was a month ago.

I can't wait to get this. I got a cheaper copy online (with headset), but it shipped thursday, so I probably won't get it till about Monday or Tuesday. AoD group gaming sounds great to me.

I want to...but the cheapskate inside me tells me $40 is a little too rich for my blood...especially since I'm not much for multiplayer shooters, as it would seem. :sd:

I've had it since Wednesday but I haven't had a chance to play it yet, only synch the bluetooth headset with my PS3.

Right, just gotta ask to help persuade me to buy this or not - who here would be up for a AoD clan for regular play and/or regular AoDer-only deathmatches?
Obviously this game lives or dies by its community and playing with all manner of freaks and weirdos from a forum is much better than playing with strangers :D

I'd definetly play with other AoDers. I'm actually a terrible person and am in the CAG clan, but I'd definetly play some AoD matches.

I'd be happy with that too.
As for whether you want to buy it... It's a fun game, depends mainly on how much you like shootemups and war games (I'm not a big fan, but I'm enjoying this)

I'll play pretty much anything. What attracts me to the game mainly is the fact that I still play multiplayer Lost Planet deathmatches almost 9 months after its release. I'm basically hoping that it matches or is better than the Lost Planet experience which, from what I've read and watched, looks very much to be the case.
To be honest, the funds in my PayPal account are growing (having a clearout at the minute) and I'd say it's only a matter of time before this is ordered :)

if someone has the right bandwidth to handle larger groups (mine seems to be able to handle 4 player hosting only), I will plug regular matches on the main page for people who want to join in.

I'm off the fence. eBay items selling = cash = Warhawk purchased!
Should be with me in a week or so. Prepare yourselves :D

Do you have a bluetooth headset yet? If not, it might be worth waiting for the disc release which includes the headset (a must for online play in my opinion)

Don't have a headset but it was the disk version I bought which comes with a headset.

I can try Chris. I have Road Runner down over here and I can get a pretty good connection I think. Are these results good?
Communications 3 megabits per second
Storage 361.3 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 2.8 seconds
Subjective rating Great

Nice to see your getting it Johnny but what took ya so long! :P
The game rocks imo. Always fun to just go around destroying stuff. What does everyone use the most? I love using the missile turrets and just blowing up warhawk after warhawk :P

what are your up/down speeds? the Upload speed specifically (that's where most gamers fall short, and why they can only host small games)
juliant59
09-04-2007, 04:22 AM
According to one of the tests I did about 360kb/s. I have a ton of dl speed but I guess not enough upload doh. What could be preventing the lower speed?
Fudce
09-04-2007, 05:53 AM
nothing is likely restricting it. It's unfortunatly a matter of fact that most home connections have ever increasing download speeds, but upload speeds are rarely increased or even advertised (other than in smallprint)
Even in the 20Mb connection that my supplier offers (not the one I'm on, I'm on the one lower than that) has an upload speed lower than 1Mb.

Whee. Just got my copy via a really busy UPS driver.
Havent had a chance to stick it in yet since I'm at work. Hmmmmm, probably should look up the game site while I'm at it and see what is going on with the game to begin with... :sd:

I got my game in yesterday. It took me a bit to figure out how to get the headset working, but now that I have, I've gotten myself familiar with the game. This seems like the kind of game that needs clan or group play because I don't see people working together that much. I've gotten a few people to go with me in a jeep to steal a flag, but that's about it. Unfortunately, I can host a max of 4 as well. Are we going to make a AoD Clan?

I was contemplating getting this...until I got hit with a $360+ repair bill on my damn car. :tired:
I hate it very much. Ah well, I guess this is what I get for spending too much in too little time. :sd:

Anyone else getting their PS3's Froze when playing Warhawk. Yesterday it froze twice on me while playing Warhawk and I couldn't do anything. Wouldn't even let me get to the PSButton menu. So anyone get this? Should I be worried that my PS3 will mess up :(. I hope not ugh.

I've heard some people complain about some 'issues' with Warhawk, but I've had no problems.

Yea it doesn't happen often with me but seems like it's only frozen with Warhawk. It has done it twice, one time when spawning then the other time when walking so lol. I just hope my PS3 don't mess up because when it freezes I have to restart it by turning off the PS3.

The Warhawk beta used to freeze on me all the time, but I've yet to encounter it with the final retail version.

Oh well that sucks lol. No way to reset the PS3 without the PSButton? Anyone know cause it sucks when I have to turn off my PS3 manually when that shit happens.

As far as I know, physically turning it off and then on again is the only solution. It should be okay though.
I might suggest if it happens, try changing servers, there might be something weird with the ping time and/or upload/download to cause that to happen. Bad packets or something. It seems pretty random though. A lot of people on the Warhawk boards seem to have it, but others dont. I did play for about 7 hours today though on the same server without a crash.
Which reminds me, seems like I rather suck at this. Doesnt help I keep forgetting I have a headset on. Man, I yearn for the days when I knew who I was playing with and we could all cooperate without voice commands.
Well, that and to be honest, I really have no clue what to do in a game. Capture the Flag remains as simple as always though.

I have the disc version. All I know is that the times it freezes up the yellow internet light does not light up anymore :P, so who knows what it could be.

Fucking hell, this is a bit good isn't it? :D
I'm a deathmatch guy and I wanted something better than Lost Planet. After an hour or so, I've got it and I've seen very little of the maps etc overall. Gimme a few days to get to grips with the Warhawks and stuff and I'll be online.

Yea binoculars are fun :). So your one of those that does that to me! I'm more of a capture the flag kind of player. I love CTF :). I usually play the Sony Servers cause I want to try to build up my character.

In most games I almost always love simple death match over capture the flag, but in this game I find Capture the flag games to be a lot more fun. I play on the Sony servers so I can improve my rank, too. If we are gonna do group gaming, Friday or Saturday are probably good for me. I don't think I've seen any of you in the game when I have been so far.

Yea it gets very intense during CTF battles. Archipelago is insane map to play CTF on. I saw you on Magic I think yesterday or Monday though I couldn't get into your game. I can do a Friday or Sat meetup.

Yeah, I've come to love CTF. Zones isnt bad either for me since I enjoy defense, but the points are all in CTF. And I've found the fights to be every bit as intense in a good game as TDM or DM.
I do grant that the points seem a bit off in CTF in that you get 10 points for simply saving your flag, but from what I've seen I usually play with people who have a hard enough time pointing a weapon at the enemy that they really need those points. :D
Sniper rifes are fun, and binoc's too. But I've come to love mines. Doing forward defense at a zone or two ahead of the flag means that I usually dont have to worry much about friendly fire. I mine the approches and watch the enemy die. Even if they come in on a Warhawk, they still have to leave on foot or on a vehicle. And if they stop to remove my mines, well, that's what the RPG or flamethrower is for.
Favorites so far was one time I was sniping and the enemy sniper and I took each other out. It was kind of funny seeing that on screen with both our names twice showing a sniper kill.
Oh, and it's always cool to bust out the sniper rifle on some newbie hovering in a Warhawk who thinks he's invulnerable because he took the missile launchers out. Note, never hover without moving in a Warhawk, you just become sniper bait. And if you start getting hit once or twice, dont just stay there, move. I actually took a Warhawk out earlier today with 3 sniper shots in a row because he never moved.
