Anyone know when the new .hack comes out? I'm thinking of heading over to Gamestop this week to preorder it.

You'd better move pretty quickly, then. ;) It supposedly comes out today, although most places probably won't get it in until Wednesday or Thursday.

Um... yeah, you missed the pre-order boat ^^;. The game shipped Monday and many Gamestop's will have it in this afternoon. My local Gamestop included.

In fact, I'm picking my copy up as soon as work gets out! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Um....I've uh...really been looking forward to this. *cough*

So I found out. -_- IT is BS though, the game does not come out until tomroorw, yet, they won't let me preorder it. However, when I worked at GS, we could take preorders until we closed the night before it arrived. And then the guy says they are only getting one copy that an employee reserved, and the game will not have a second shipment.

It gets worse. I can't buy it at work (Best Buy) because they will not be carrying it even though we had the first two. WTF????

You could just order it online.

*comes out of lurk mode for the first time in years o.o *

I work at EBGS, and can say that it's bs that they couldn't pre-order you a copy on Monday. With the exceptions of games that are street dated, all games with set ship dates are shipped overnight, and they pack those shipments based on the closing count of each store's reserve count. So it's possible to reserve up until close of the day before, even for street dated games (if we reserve more copies than what was initially sent to us, they overnight us more to at least cover all the reserves). There is a little bug in the system where games are taken off of the reserve list that is used most of the time by employees, but employees who actually know what they're doing can easily get around it.

As for the game not getting a second shipment, I call total bs on that too. The second GU was still an active SKU as of a couple days ago (probably still is, I just remember seeing it the other day), so I don't see why the third one would already be inactive. I'll check tomorrow just to be sure though, but it seems safe to say that the workers at your local GS are idiots. Well, at least that guy is, though it wouldn't surprise me if the rest are as well.

Actually, most of the employees at my GS are great, but I never saw this guy before, so he must be new.

As for online, that seems to be everyone's answer nowadays. No offense to you, but not everyone likes to order online, especially when it comes to things as fragile as discs. I don't know how many times I've gotten a disc with a scratches due to shipping, a disc that was loose when I opened it, or the case has been crushed/broken. I like to physically see and touch my product before I pay for it. With online, you cannot look at, make sure the disc is secure, look for any imperfections in the case, etc.

Congrats :) ! Quite lucky on your part!

When I went to pick up my pre-order on Tuesday, the staff there told me that they were sold out of all the GU3's except for those that were pre-ordered.

Of course, I think my Gamestop only stocks about 3 copies of any newly released rpg's anyways...
