I wanted to bring this topic up because I'm curious as to how some of you folks store and display your collections. My DVD collection is scattered throughout my house. The good majority of them are in my room behind my cabinet's sliding doors. The rest are in my dresser drawers and in my computer room on shelves and in another pair of drawers. My manga collection is pretty much the same. As for my PVCs, I have them in the cabinet as well so that I can see them whenever I'm going to pick out a manga to read.

The reason why I don't have anything out in the open is because of the design of my rooms. Both my room and the computer room have three large windows. It's very bright during the day and the sun shines on practically everything. I don't want anything to fade so I try to hide them as much as possible. And there's no way I'd display my PVCs out in the open not only because they may fade, but because I know they'll collect dust really quickly.

Does anyone else have such dilemmas or am the only one who's so obsessed over these kinds of things?

I use the standard bookcase look for my DVD's. I wish I could build some sort of in wall storage thing like I've seen others do, but I'm to lazy and would probably mess it up. So as of now I use easy to move bookshelves.

I have all of my dvds, manga and PVC figure in the same room with my computer and main TV and dvd player. The room has only one window and that faces north and another house so it doesn't get direct sunlight. Up until four or five years ago my collections was also scattered around my house but I have bought several sets of bookcases to hold the different media.
For you sunlight problem the only thing I can think of is to try and block as much as possible with curtains, pull shades, blinds, or to tint the window, if you want to set up a display. if the windows are high on the wall see about putting a bookcase under them to hold the dvds or manga. Or put a bookcase on the same wall as the window as this will get them out of direct sunlight.
