Not sure if this is old news, but for those of you that love Trigun, the other day at NDK Madhouse's Abe said that the new Trigun movie script is in the finishing stages, but don't expect to see it in animated form for about 2-3 years.

Looks like they are taking their sweet time. I hope the movie turns out sweet as a result. I felt that the last two episodes for Trigun were really shabby and anticlimactic.

This thing was announced at the TAF two years ago I believe. Madhouse is really, really, really busy right now.

Yay! Either I completely forgot about this or never heard about it to begin with. But I'm excited, I love Trigun. I've been thinking about rewatching the series lately.

Funny thing, I loved the anime; a friend bought the first volume of Manga for me as a gift... and I couldn't even finish it. It's just been sitting on my shelf for years now. I feel bad about it. Mainly because I don't like having unfinished books hanging over me. :(

Don't feel that way; I'm constantly amazed that such a great anime could have been gleaned from Nightow's shoddy storytelling skills (and, later, his sloppy artwork), where this series was concerned. But then, when you hire awesome staff, and the right studio takes helm of the production...

At least your book was given to you. I had to pick up three volumes of Trigun Maximum before I decided that the printed version just wasn't for me.

I'm currently on a re-watch of the show. I love it, and the film can't arrive fast enough as far as I'm concerned. But I really do want all of the same folks on board and involved.

:sigh: Phew, well I feel a bit better now. I was worried I just didn't give it enough of a chance. hearing that the story isn't too great and that the art starts to decline, well I'm glad I dropped it as quick as I did. :D

I bought three of the Trigun Maximum volumes, and the first was a gift...I kinda liked it, but yet I didn't...The art work kinda started to get all confusing, and I barely had any idea what was going on during some action scenes.

Anyway, though, I'll deffinately want to pick up the new movie when it comes out.

Is it going to be a remake or a sequel?

Is it going to be a remake or a sequel?

I'm under the impression that it'll be a sequel. It almost makes no sense unless you want to follow it up with something else to remake the entire TV series in a movie after all these years.

Not that that's stopped anyone before, with the results being quite remarkable...

*points to titles such as Escaflowne and Utena, and more recently Evangelion and Shakugan no Shana*

Looks like they are taking their sweet time.

Madhouse is handling multiple anime series, released their summer movie in July (Piano no Mori), and have a good amount of children's movies this winter. Factor in a busy schedule from previous years and I think it shouldn't be surprising.

I hope the movie turns out sweet as a result. I felt that the last two episodes for Trigun were really shabby and anticlimactic.

I'm one of those weirdos who found the ending fitting enough, though that's because the anime had a tendency to always take the easy way out for its drama. Shame, really.

The manga does have a grander story to work with as well as characters serving more purpose, but Nightow's writing and hectic art keeps it from being truly worthwhile.

Madhouse is a powerhouse studio indeed. I find it really awesome how they can still maintain some pretty good animation quality for the most part while having to work on so many shows.

While the manga did, as you say, have a grander story, I could never get far along in it since everything about the series was erratic and clunky, from the art, to the awkward dialog. Yasuhiro Nightow is still much better off as a character designer.

They're like the Kyoto Animation among the mass producing studios.
