Holy crap, a new Gundam series set in the distant past???

I just got the new issue of NewType, and they talk about what I guess is to be the next Gundam series, and it looks pretty cool. However, what shocked me the most was that they said it takes place in 2307, but never gave any special timeline for it. Is this meant to be a prequel to whatever universe you want it to be in?

No. Its its own timeline, they just decided to set it in the AD calendar instead of creating a new arbitrary calendar.

Why in the world would you possibly think it would be a prequel to any other Gundam series?

(oh, and 2307 is actually later than the accepted date for the events of the original Gundam anyway, which I believe would have been somewhere in the 2200's AD, if they hadn't switched to the UC calendar. I'd have to go try to find the exact details again, and I really don't care to)

I did not remember they even talked about that in the UC universe, but whatever. I would still love to have a series set in the early AC universe though. :>

Which would then put Gundam 00 in the year 147 UC, if you wanted to use that timeline.

Which would put it a couple decades after Victory Gundam.

Yeah, but if you bothered to actually look at the designs and setting, its obvious that 00 has nothing to do with previous Gundam series.
