I was checking the next 2 weekend schedules for when Death Note will be airing on Adult Swim.
I found it in Bleach's midnight slot (before Blood+)... but no sign of Bleach.

Then checking the AS boards on the latest ep. (#52) there is this:

"This is the last Saturday premiere of Bleach for a while (the show goes on hiatus next week), so enjoy!"

Chances are, Death Note will be aired, and then Bleach will return. Kind of sucks that it goes on hiatus when there were only around 15-20 episodes left for the story arc it's on right now...

:sigh: 15-20 more episodes before that story arc finishes? Wow, they sure know how to drag things out. :neko:

It does seem kinda dumb to yank it off the air in the middle of an arc. I would have rather seen Boondocks (or whatever they're airing at 11:30) go away, but I clearly don't get a vote. :sd:

I was going to say 10-15, but I wasn't completely sure.

I just checked now, and after episode 52, there are another 11-12 episodes left (63 was an hour-long special, but considered one episode) for the story arc.

While it's weird that Adult Swim would go on hiatus when there are only 11-12 episodes left for the story arc, I guess Adult Swim only picked up 52 episodes of Bleach, and then decided to pick up Death Note to replace for now.

Yeah, but Bleach has always been early-morning also. Those are pretty much reruns of the most recent episode. Chances are, they might just restart from the beginning in that slot.

I noticed this a couple weeks back. Yeah it sucks, since they're right in the middle of actually getting somewhere (even if it's real slow) :sigh:

By the time the hiatus is over, I might just forget about the broadcast option entirely and slowly collect it over time as Viz releases the sets. Then I can marathon it, which, considering the "normal" pacing of many shonen series, is probably the only way to watch it.

They may well have picked up 52 episodes so that they could decide later whether to continue it or not in case it didn't catch on. Maybe AS will actually ditch one of their crappy "comedies" to get Bleach going again sooner. Otherwise, it will probably be a while before more Bleach airs. If they are going to air all of Death Note, then Blood+ will be ending first, but that's still a good six months from now. Are they airing re-runs of something else or are Bleach and Blood+ the only anime on AS right now?

dang, that just annoys the crap out of me that they would do that to Bleach. i actually have all the current episodes downloaded, though i intentionally did not watch it. personally, i rather watch anime from the comfort of my couch instead of on my PC or laptop, so i download the episodes for friends. and to be honest, i actually like the Bleach english dubs on AS. but hell, now that they are putting it on hiatus, it will probably be at least 6 months before it starts showing Bleach again (assuming Death Note has 26 episodes).

maybe we can hope they will bring Bleach to replace The Boondocks.

I remember hearing that the AS doesn't like anime to much. Don't be surprised for them to put out some new show that looks like it's animated in flash with jokes that you'll hear your friends and coworkers endlessly repeating the next day.

Grumble Grumble Grumble

Everyone needs to keep in mind that this is just the normal pause as VIZ works on completing more episodes with the English dub. Even 'Dragon Ball Z' had long pauses and LOTS of repeat broadcasts back in the days when they were still working on the English dub. And 'Bleach' isn't the only long running series that VIZ is making English dubs for. There also working on 'Naruto', 'Prince of Tennis', 'Death Note' and 'Hikaru no Go'. And no doubt there will be a pause in 'Death Note' (perhaps switching back to 'Bleach'?) when they catch with its production of English dubs...

If they can do 52 episodes of Bleach before they need to do a break, they shouldn't have to have any breaks for Death Note for dubbing.

well they might be doing it to let the DVDs catch up, cause AS is starting the third season while the DVDs are just now finishing the first. Remember this is what happened with Inuyasha. Funimation also gave the same reason as to why Fullmetal Alchemist went on hiatus.

Actually, Death Note is 37 episodes, so it will be a bit longer if they wait for DN to finish before bringing back Bleach.

Of course they hate anime. That's why they air things like Crayon Shin-chan and Bleach.

I think this is the main reason as well. There was a thread (http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showpost.php?post/537461/) in the English Track forum, that was talking about a rumor (it was false) that from episode 50 and later, we would have new voice actors. However, one of the voice actors shot the rumor down and said they have dubbed a little past episode 52.

This was only a few weeks ago and not to mention, episode 63 is an hour special. Most likely Viz will need some extra time to modify that episode into a two parter, unless the Japanese animators already did that.

The truth is, those "crappy" comedies draw a ton more ratings than the anime shows do. I constantly run into people who praise the hell out of AS' comedies and then say all the drama/action anime on the block is crap. Ratings numbers indicate this is the majority thinking.

Anyway, I've always considered Bleach more of a Naruto-type shounen show. Why is it on Adult Swim and not Toonami? Maybe there are some Bleach episodes more risque or violent than I've seen?

Well, even thoug Bleach is a Shonen Jump anime, just like Naruto and One Piece, I believe the Bleach anime does show more bloodshed normally than the Naruto anime does.

Also, I think Bleach's "theme/style" relates more to a slightly older audience than Naruto's ninja theme.

yea, i think Bleach has quite a bit more fan-service too. and from what i hear, there's quite a bit more fan-service to come! yay! :P

ok, stupid question... ain't toonami and AS pretty much the same? i mean, they're both on Cartoon Network, so i always viewed them as being the same. except with AS, it's a warning for the younger audience not to watch.

and what's up with the robot doode in Toonami constantly having a face-lift? i remember when he pretty had a motocycle-head like a Power Ranger, but now he has facial expressions and everything. at least i think it's the same character cause the voice is the same (i think it's Spike from Cowboy Bebop English dub).

Cartoon Network and Adult Swim are considered seperate channels for Neilsen ratings. I think it's the same with Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite.

As for Toonami's host, I don't think it's even the same host anymore. I personally don't like the new host; I miss Tom!

Adult Swim could have waited until the arc was finished before they start airing Death Note. Also, I believe when Blood+ is finished (it's on episode 28 out of 50, so this series should be completed sometime in April), I believe that Code Geass will air in place of it. I do remember hearing that Bandai will get Code Geass on TV. As for when Bleach will be back, it's anybody's guess, but I do think it will be back soon.

I don't think it's any more violent than Princess Mononoke and yet Toonami aired that anyway.

Yeah, but wasn't the movie censored somewhat? I couldn't tell, since that was the first time I saw the movie.

Also, Mononoke was a one-time deal, and not a weekly airing.

CN as a company has always been very open to anime. I'm basing my post off something I heard a long time ago(around when Bebop aired). I'm sure things have changed after seeing what type of ratings anime brings in.

Actually, I'm kind of amazed that Adult Swim let alone Cartoon Network as a whole, has actually aired THAT MUCH anime. That list is just AS; add animes seen on Toonami and VCES into the list, and that list becomes almost scarily large.

If only more companies were that open to anime...

It's the same host (Tom) and the same voice (Steve Blum). It's just a redesign, which has happened I believe five times now.

Well, I miss the last Tom. This new one is nowhere near as cool. Giving him an actual face just doesn't work.

The reason is that people like to see short episodes that have lots of crude and offensive humor, they don't like shows that either have drama or a story to it. which is why Futurerama and Family Guy have been shown continuous since they begun airing.

I don't know because I didn't bother to watch anymore than five minutes of it since I already have it on VHS but I never heard anyone comment about it being censored. And I thought Miyazaki didn't allow his films to be censored? Anyway all I remember is that it had a TV14 rating.

Bandai confurmed at their Nan Desu Kan Pannell that CN has Code Geass for brodcast in 2008. More then Likely it is AS that will be airing it.

The irony of course is that the last two seasons of Futurama have quite a bit of drama and continuity to them.

I can! It was surprisingly left unedited (rated TV-14) and I did comparisons with the DVD version. Everything was left in including the language. A while back, CN was going to air it a second time (saw the ads), but it was pulled at the last minute. I would say it was because of parental complaints.
