What is the maximum number of shows you are able to watch simultaneously?

Right now I am in the process of completing three 26-episode series, two on fansubs and one on DVD. Since I have all of the episodes downloaded, complete and in front of me, the time I have to watch for each show is about an episode per day (which is really three episodes per day).

That's actually my limit as far as the time I have for anime each day, so the max number of shows I can simultaneously plug away is about three.

How about you guys? Are you able to keep up with many shows at once, or just a few?

Between fansubs and DVDs I'm probably following somewhere around 15 shows right now.

Way back when I had eight series going on at a time while buying three on DVD. Now I have 3-4 that I keep an eye on. I tend to be more subjective when it comes to what I watch.

Uh, I guess I'm technically around 20+ right now, and that's not terribly unusual as far as the start of a season goes. New shows plus stragglers from previous seasons plus marathoning stuff from awhile ago.

I have gotten into the habit of watching three shows at a time, with one or two episodes of each show every day. Right now I am watching only two, but that is because one of them is Cardcaptor Sakura and I cannot stop after only two episodes. :)

My viewing is limited to R1 DVD and I usually have the complete show when I start watching it. If I was watching shows as they were televised, and had to wait a week or more between episodes, then I would be watching many more at a time.

I have no idea how many shows I'm currently working on right now. However I don't think it matters that much because whether I'm watching 5 series or 25 series it doesn't change one simple fact.

That unless I'm crazy, I'm only going to have one episode playing during a given 24-26 minute period (on average anyway). There's no point in playing multiple videos at the same or repeatedly pausing one to start another.

Plus in reality it's a case of the flow of fate. In other words I may progress through one series I'm watching very slowly and yet progress through another series rather quickly. Thus in the case of the former it's more like an occasional extra time being used and in the case of the latter it will be done with before I know it.

Easily more than 10. This week, I'm currently following 11 ongoing series on raws (Freedom; Kekkaishi; Dennou Coil; Baccano!; Moonlight Mile: Touchdown; Bamboo Blade; You're Under Arrest: Full Throttle; Gundam00; Jyushin Enbu; Genshiken 2; Moyashimon), 3 ongoing series on fansubs (ef - a tale of memories; Mokke; Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji), 2 completed series on fansubs (Legend of Galactic Heroes; Shigurui), and 4 series on complete sets of DVDs (Mobile Suit Gundam; Soukyuu no Fafner; Gasaraki; Touch). That's 20 shows right now and excludes shows that I'm still collecting the DVDs as they come in (e.g. Zipang).

Well, according to my list, I'm following 41 shows right now, predominantly fansubs. Part of that is due to the shows for the new season starting and overlapping with shows from last season that still have an ep or two to go. Between some finishing up and and others just getting weeded out for various reasons, I'd expect that number to drop to 25-30.

Still, I guess the fact that I maintain a list of which episode I'm on in each show is evidence enough that following many at one time can get confusing. :)

Best answer yet! :D

But to answer the question as intended... two is it for me. It's all I really have time for, and it's not too difficult to keep track of two stories at once.

Another thing I should mention is the idea of what are known as gaps. During the times I'm waiting to get the next DVD, waiting for translations, or heck even waiting for an episode to air in the first place. Well it couldn't hurt to watch one of the other shows I'm working on.

I normally follow around two series at a time personally. However, if I played around with timing issues, I might be able to push it up to four.

Edit: This does not include the anime club I go to in college, which follows four series at once.

Usually 2, maybe 3 or 4 if the subjests are diverse enough, or another if for a special reason. Don't down load & don't watch TV anime.

At present from DVD; Angel Heart, Aria, Girls*High & Urusei Yatsura. Might start Karin & Evangelion soon.

I have been following 13 shows but with Geneon thing I'm down to nine. :(

I'm currently following somewhere between 15-20 series. In the past I've tried to limit it a bit more but this season I decided I didn't care and I'd watch as much as could (provided I liked it, of course).

I don't watch fansubs, but on DVD I follow about 3-4 shows during any given month.

Speaking of the idea of limitations. For me it's not so much a case of deciding I'm only allowed to watch X number of shows a season. Rather it's a case of making absolutely certain I'm enjoying what I watch as opposed to forcing myself to watch the show. I want to reduce the amount of future instances of that past mistake as much as possible. So on occasion I do like to take a second look just to make sure why I'm watching a show is the right reason.

99% of the time, just one. I really like to focus on one series at a time. Very rarely I'll do two, but that usually means one isn't holding my attention well and is probably not gonna end up on my buy list (since I rent anything I haven't seen before buying)

I'm also trying to juggle around 15-20 shows at the same time and I've still got a lot of this season to check out... maybe.

More than I care to count. I have over 70 shows backlogged on DVD alone, most of which I've started, plus at least 10 that I'm in the process of showing to other people.

Fool of a Hakurei! Why else do you think you have two eyes, and an ear on each side, if not to watch two shows at once!?

Uhhh... sorry, it just seemed logical. As for myself, while I'm probably following fifteen to twenty shows, I try to keep most of the focus on two or three at a given time.

And here I figured it was so I could divide my attention between the internet and watching a video. I'm going to take a wild guess here. Both videos must be full screen even if it means using two computers at once.

For a while, I think I was trying to follow five series on DVD at once but not watching much more than thirty minutes in total or one single episode per day, and it got to the point where I would start each episode with the vague, uneasy feeling that I had skipped something somewhere... I've since cut back to following two or three series on DVD at once, which means watching a particular series every other day or so, and I seem to find greater enjoyment in that. On the other hand, I do seem to be able to keep up with fansubs of three or four older, unreleased series at once alongside those DVDs...

Probably a similar case for me. I may be following a lot of shows, but my focus tends to be on a few that I'm really liking. This goes for anything, including DVD collecting (where I really can't afford to have my focus on more than three series at a time)

I currently have 32 series in active, semi-active, or barely-active rotation, and that's down from whatever it had been before I reached the abrupt end of several Geneon series.

I really have no idea. I'd have to count all of my open shows (actively in the process of being collected), plus the stuff that I have on re-watch. I'm GUESSING ten to fifteen, at least.
