Discussion thread for Prism Ark, which just started airing. I like the character designs I've seen, though I don't know if the show will be good or not.

Oh, but it has a battle nun named Sister Hell, so it has to be worth watching at least a few eps.

ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7471) entry.
Official (http://www.p-ark.tv/) site.
Schedule (http://cal.syoboi.jp/tid/1217/time) for airing dates and times on various stations.

Thoughts about episode one will go in a reply to this post.

As usual, please try to follow these two easy forum courtesy habits when replying:
1) If you're the first person to post about an episode in any given week, please respond to the root post (this post) and indicate in the subject line which episode you're posting about.
2) If someone has already posted about an episode before you, please respond to that post (or a relevant reply to that post). Keep in the right subthread.

Episode 1:

- Starts out with our lead, Priecia, wandering around their camp the night before an important battle/raid. [Also, panties.]
- Hyaweh is the male lead, and they talk together about what tomorrow will bring and what they'll do afterwards (if they survive). Priecia quite clearly has the hots for Hyaweh. Hyaweh's dream is to become a splendid knight and protect everyone and blah blah, the usual.
- They lean is towards each other, about to kiss, when Sister Hell crashes down between them from the sky. She carries a reidculously unweildy looking sword... cross... thing.
- We cut to a girl named Komeito (? I dont see her on the site or ANN's list) who lives in a windmill and has giant breasts. She seems to be caring for a child, and wants to tell him about the story of his parents.
- We hear of a war that's raged for hundreds of years, and get a shot of a tweaked map of Europe. Wind Land occupies basically what would be norteastern, central, and southeastern Europe, and is warring against the land of Sablum that I guess you can think of as the lands of the old Ottoman empire and parts of southern Russia. The names are all minor corruptions of modern names (Speen, Frenchel, Victaly, the Unified Kingdom, Poleland, Russiasn etc). The setup is vaguely like the Crusades, with a holy war between these two regions with the followers of Lelihion from Crusade opposing the followers of Salus from Sablum. The king of Windland sees that the war is going nowhere and the two sides negotiate a truce.
- Back to the fighting. It's not impressive but it doesn't annoy me either, I guess.
- Then there's more backstory but, eh, whatever.
- As Priecia and Hyaweh are about to get cooked by a magic spell, Fel (pointy eared magic user), Kagura (archer miko!) and Mibu Karin (samurai chick) save their asses and drive Sister Hell back. Sister Hell has some personal connection to Karin, and actually seems slightly hesitant to fight her.
- Princia and Hand befriend dark haired boy and eventually Hans blurts out that Princia and whatshisname like each other. It's nice to see it's mutual, but not long after, Princia has to leave for her homeland and they must part.
- Mmm sexy Priecia eyecatch.
- Sister Hell summons a giant mecha angel thing.
- Stuff and things. Hans and Princia make a promise to dark haired boy to meet again, and Hans swears to become a knight with him. A year later Hans dies, and Princia takes up the sword to carry on Hans' dream.

Then more stuff, but the highlight was naked Princia. Seems she met up with the dark haired boy again. Well, they're dropping all sorts of hints that this is Priecia and Hyaweh. The first, sure, looks almost exactly like her, but the dark haired boy looks absolutely nothing at all like Hyaweh (who is light haired) so I think I didn't quite catch the significance of all that. Plus the watch he had seems to be in Fel's [?] possession, not his or Priecia's.

Oh and the good guys beat Sister Hell's angel thing, but then like ten thousand more show up, and Priecia's people charge in and presumably destroy them all.

I was hoping it would be a bit more than the usual fantasy fare, but so far it isn't. It wasn't terrible either, but it won't be getting priority over many other Fall shows. Still, next episode looks like a change of pace when they return to the Knight's Academy. I guess I'll give it another ep, if only for some more fanservice... but I can get fanservice with all sorts of other shows too.

This definitely feels like a show for Patchu though.

Since my current display name is Reimu Hakurei, I wonder why we're still on Patchu. That being said episode 01 did give the impression it could be a show for me. However episode 02 killed my interest. I won't spoil it for you, but I will say it felt off to me.

Yeah I know I did watch the episodes that way, but I've watched several episodes that way and were able to enjoy them. Or at the very least see potential in them to make me want to see it the more informed way. Which sadly was not the case with this series.

Right now at best I might consider reading up on the episodes by for example reading poster's comments on the episode as I've done with a few series that I'm not watching. Perhaps after all the episodes are available and I find proper motivation, I may give the show a second chance. However as of current, I am just not bothering with it.

Because I couldn't remember who the hell you were today :sd:

Not what I wanted to hear, but hell, I really need some bad shows this season, there's too much to watch. :sd: So maybe this is a good thing.

That's no excuse, you could have just checked for one of my posts to have confirmation. :P

Well there is always the chance that like in other cases you may feel differently. Either way you'll find out eventually so long as you're still willing to watch episode 02.

That being said even with the shows I've dropped because they failed me and shows I've put on hiatus because I feel it would be better to watch them later. Yeah I still have plenty to watch myself.

However I tend to handle that by keeping in mind it's okay if I'm late in terms of watching an episode. Heck come to think of it there are a few series I've fallen behind on, but most of this would be a story for another thread.

That would have been extra work.

Yeah, I tell myself the same thing... and then I almost never get to them anyway =P

Sometimes I do end up getting to them, but there are also times I have to be honest with myself and realize I'm probably never going to watch (any more of) the show in question.

Watched the first ep today and hmmm... Don't know what to say really. Too many flashbacks which I well was unnecessary really. They should have just one long flashback then continue the battle. I also don't see how the guy is the same one...his hair changed from purple to blond....I guess something must have happen along the way.

Also irked by the character designs. It has an Air feel to it and all but with the skimpy clothes and big pointy boobs, it just doesn't work for me. Granted I will continue ot watch till it bores me.

Hmmm also just finished episode 1, wasn't good but it wasn't bad either. I'll probably give it at least one or two more episodes... nothing to do with the fan service!

That... was probably the worst first episode of the season for me. The whole thing was a giant mess. Random flashing back and forth, fantasy setting and POW magical girl and giant robot out of nowhere, crummy and cliched dialogue, mediocre art and cheap animation.

A fanservice scene and some nipples (ironically, not at the same time) were about the only good points in the whole episode. Not nearly enough to make up for everything else.

I'll watch episode 2 just to see what killed Reimu's interest.

Just remember that I'm not responsible for any suffering that you may occur in doing so. Still it looks like based on your post, it went downhill sooner for you than it did for me.

But "going downhill" implies that it was on a hill in the first place. This one started off in the ditch.

Maybe I should have used a different terminology then to state the show ended up failing you sooner than it did me.
