Best Student Council - wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_Student_Council)
Thought I'd put up a discussion thread for this series, since there doesn't seem to be a general thread for it here. Has anyone seen it? Enjoyed it? Found a few characters/episodes in BSC you really liked? Etc., etc..
Right now I am on the fifth disc and still enjoying the zany, offbeat humor. The puppet thing I've already gotten used to and Pucchan is easily the most hilarious thing in this show.
The dub for this series is very good, although I am finding it hard to resist Yukari Tamura's take on Rino (it's funny how I am currently following two shows where she voices the lead).
Rino also happens to be my favorite character, alongside Seina and Ayu-chan.

I watched about half when it first aired, and liked it a good bit. Then it got licensed before I got any further, and I haven't touched it since, but disc 6 came recently. Course, so did a lot of other things I haven't watched so... :sd: One day!

Disc six came yesterday for me in fact. I've only seen two episodes yet though. :(
I need some puppet-love, so I think I may watch it next after I finish GA AA.

Heh - yeah, it's funny. The dub itself is not bad at all, but somehow I keep getting drawn back to the Japanese audio, probably at least in part for Yukari Tamura's Rino. It's one of those shows where the Japanese voice cast was obviously one of the big selling points, and it shows.
All in all, I came into this show "blind", and have been liking it well enough. It's a little off-beat, but it works. I think the aspect I like best is how they slowly dive deeper into the individual characters to flesh out their reasons-for-being and how the school, and being on the student council, changed their lives for the better. It adds another dimension to characters that, otherwise, might be seen only as plot devices and enablers.
Probably the most memorable thing about the show (in an odd sort of way) has to be that "expanding circles" effect they do all the time for the sun's rays. It looks sort of odd and almost out of place, but at the same time, it's one of those animation quirks J.C. Staff threw in to uniquely identify the production, and it works. You can watch the show and just start calling when it's coming up. :sd:
I think I'm on disc 4 at this point, and am slowly working my way through it. It's not a bad show to just relax to an episode or two at a time after work or something.

I saw some of it and found it interesting, but never finished it. Also my memory of what I watched is rather fuzzy. Thus while I have an interest in it, I'm hesitant to collect it right now. Especially with everything else I'm working on.
Still part of me does feel that for a change of pace I should eventually start up an ADV title. After all I've given Geneon, Funimation, Bandai Entertainment, and heck even Bandai Visual some focus recently. Although whether or not Best Student Council would be that ADV title is another story.

That's true. I also like the whole "half toning" effects that pop in and out, which makes the anime feel like a segment right off of a manga. There's definitely some neat visual cues in this show, as well as being really colorful in general.
The character designs are pretty good too, but somehow they seemed a bit muddy and inconsistent in a few episodes.

It's a fun little series that to me I found enjoyable. As much as I like certain parts of the dub, it's hard to beat Yukari Tamura in this one. Heck a few of the well know seiyuus are in it, so it was hard for me not to switch it over to Japanese since I really want to rewatch this series again in English.

Yeah, I was surprised to hear both Rino and Pucchan were actually voiced by Tamura herself. She really does an excellent job in making you think she has some sort of split personality... both voices are exactly the polar opposite of each other and that comes off quite well when both those characters talk to each other.
Kira Vincent Davis, while not as cute or vulgar-sounding as Tamura in the Japanese, still does an excellent job playing a ditzy lead and a wise-cracking puppet in the dub. I also like Sasha Paysinger's take on the always happy Seina in the dub, as well as Kelly Manison's soft-spoken Kanade.
Anyway, as far my favorite episodes for the series so far:
Episode 6
This was really the first of the dramatic episodes in the series, as well as the one where we see the puppet go all out in mischief. I nearly cried in the end when Pucchan had gotten struck by that lightening bolt. It was also really moving to see Rino say goodbye to her seemingly dying friend.
Episode 17
Hilarious episode, plain and simple. The whole best student council trying to make Cyndi's lies come to a reality was really something, but Cyndi's mom was the real episode-stealer with her misuse of the Japanese language (unfortunately the whole thing was toned down in the English dub).
Episode 20
The Ayu-Ayu idol episode is the one that added Ayumu as a favorite. It definitely showed Ayu-chan's cute side, as well as bring out a rather interesting secret about her true identity.
Anybody else remember an episode or two in BSC that they really enjoyed?

Seen all of it. Liked it. Too bad there wasn't more romance.

I really wanted to see how things went for Cyndi and Pucchan...
