Story
Enter the world of DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: Joker as the young hero, locked in a prison by your own father, the leader of a mysterious organization known as CELL. Released under orders to enter the Monster Scout Challenge, you will embark on a journey starting with a single monster and a scout ring, unaware of the dark and mysterious intentions that surround the competition.
Unlike with Pokemon when you're out battling and find a monster you would like to have, you do not defeat it! You actually try to impress it with the 'Scout' menu option. (After all, how else did you think you scout the finicky King Slime?)
That's right. Impress. Your team shows off your battle skill. Use a good spell or have complementary monsters on your fighting team and the monster will join your team. Fail to impress? Well, back to the drawing board with you. If a monster accepts your scouting attempt, you will have the option of having it join you immediately or to send it to storage for later use.
So there's more strategy that you originally thought in catching monsters. Which are you going for and how will you impress?
