In the update (http://www.hakusensha.co.jp/cgi-bin/mag/magazine.cgi?mode=magazine&magmode=mag03&day=next) for the upcoming issue of monthly shoujo manga magazine LaLa, news about an anime adaption of Matsuri Hino's popular manga Vampire Knight was announced. I suppose more news will be available in december.

Edit: It was also printed on the cover of the current issue, on sale yesterday, but apparently no more info available inside the magazine.

Will animation do her art justice? I don't know... also I'm bitter about Skip Beat getting passed over again....

You and me both... But I'm still pleased to see two potentially interesting Hakusensha anime adaptions, since both Gakuen Alice, Jyu-Oh-Sei and Ouran Hostclub seems to have turned out well (judging from 2-3 episodes of each).

My biggest dream would be to one day see a full adaption of Angel Sanctuary and Please Save My Earth, but I'm pretty sure that ship has already sailed... :sd:

Ah, but you can't blame Hakusensha for that one.

As for Skip Beat, for some reason I get more of a live-action vibe from it.

You know, I'm really happy to see so many new, great shoujo manga anime adaptions lately, but yes, a lot of great stuff has been overlooked by the animators. Why no Red River-anime? Why no more Tokyo Babylon? The list is long... But since girl otaku seems to be on the rise in Japan, and have made them a more interesting target group, we'll probably see less of that from now on, or so I hope.

So, as much as I adore magical girl anime, its also nice to see shoujo anime with a slightly different kind of story, yeah.

The only good thing about that is that they won't make Absolute Boyfriend either(what the heck is the appeal of this series?) I kinda want Genbu Fushigi Yugi done....

As for Please Save My Earth and Angel Sanctuary both of them would benefit with longer running times and not the stuff they kinda made up(especially PSME), but... :sigh: at least they got something.

Skip Beat Live action would be hilarious... but I cannot figure out who would be tall and hot enough to be Ren and Sho. :D

Being a fan of the manga I happy, but as the manga is still running, there's a good chance that the anime may only have an incomplete ending. I hope Madhouse does the animation to this show, to do justice to the art of the manga. Hopefully a good production will be onboard.

On the topic of other manga being over looked to be animated, I agree Skip Beat should be animated, and Absolute Boyfirend. I don't think Fushigi Yugi Gaidian (sp) will be animated until it's fhinished it's manga run.

I fear. Apparently SA (the HtY show in production) is being animated by Gonzo/AIC...*shudder*

How are they going to stick mecha into it? I kid. I don't really remember anything from Gonzo except mecha shows however...

I would've liked MeruPuri to be animated but I'll take Vampire Knight in a pinch. Skip Beat would've been great but I agree that live action might be a better medium for it than animation.

I'd like to see From Far Away and W Juliet animated. Queen's Knight and Her Majesty's Dog could also be cool.

Wasn't Gonzo the ones who did Real about High School? S.A. has a lot of school students fighting from time to time, so maybe they fell for S.A. because of that? Just a thought. :)

I was kinda hoping that MeruPuri be animated before Vampire Knight as well....sigh

Skip Beat as live action? maybe but whos gonna represent her flying evil feeling minions...

I can't really see Skip Beat as a live drama. Maybe if it was the same quality as Nodame Cantabile and Yamada Taro Monogatari, which kept a lot of the cartoony humour. But if it'd become something on the lines of Boys Este and Hana-Kimi, I'd rather not have it adapted at all. :shifty:

Totally agree with you that a live version needs to keep the comedy in the forefront; maybe the little anger demons can be computer animated

Aiia

Yes, if they managed to keep the "slapping" in Nodame (it just wouldn't be the same without it), putting in a little CGI in Skip Beat shouldn't be so hard. The line between "brilliant" and "total crap" in J-dorama can sometimes be so fine that its scary. That's why I usually prefer anime adaptions, were you don't have to bother with believability or special effects, but some stuff can actually benefit from an actor (as in "real actor", not random idoru or models, like in Boys Este and Hana-Kimi aka. "Johnny's Ikemen Paradise").

I might pick up Vampire Knight again. I only read the first 2 chapters when it started up in LaLa. But its tempting to just enjoy the anime, like with Ouran (only watched two episodes though), that I thought was better as an anime, than as manga.

 :D That just made me laugh because it's so true. When actor has to be put in quotes...

I never thought the live action wouldn't include the demons! That wouldn't be skip beat without them! Haha, look at me talking like it's going to be a reality. :sd: :sigh: :(

If gonzo other non mecha thing was Real bout High School, I hope the ending doesn't descend into crap like that anime did.. so.. much .. .potential wasted! They even had a filler episode, and it was only 13 episodes!!!

That reminds me, how long will the anime be? no news as of yet?

I haven't seen any news yet, but I believe that it will be more information once the next issue of LaLa is released in a month. Hopefully, some information will leak out before that. I'm keeping my eyes open for rumours.

Gonzo is really hit or miss with me. Some of their shows are simply brilliant, while others are just...downright bad. It all boils down to who makes it (directors, scriptwriting etc) imo, rather than being a general problem with Gonzo.

Viz seems to :beat: Vampire Knight so I'm wondering how long before we hear a license announcement. This may be one they could snatch up quick.

I actually don't care too much about Vampire Knight myself. I've officially stopped reading it in Shojo Beat as of last month.

Official homepage (http://www.vampire-knight.jp/) up! You can see an example of the anime design on the picture on top of the page, and there's new information about staff and actors. I'm too lazy to transcribe the names right now. :sd:

As for what I can make out of the design of the characters, they look ok I guess. It lookes a bit simplified compared to the manga, but I expected as much. It'll probably look better animated than just as a picture. The main character looks a bit young though, probably because of her huge eyes.

I meant, judging from the picture on top of the page.

Update: Wait a minute. The picture is gone. Well, there was a picture done in anime style when I first made the post, but I guess they took it down again. Oh well, it'll be back again soon enough I suppose. It basically looked like the manga, but with a little less details.

The Homepage (http://www.vampire-knight.jp/) has been updated again, and with a much better picture this time! The first time had the whole cast, but the picture was rough and undetailed. This new one actually looks quite good.

Hakusensha also made a homepage (http://www.hakusensha.co.jp/vampire/) for the manga, which could be a good way for people who didn't read the series yet to get a look at the art and characters.

I'm currently following the manga and the thing besides the story that makes this appealing to me is the amosphere that the manga bring. I think that how ever is in charge of art design for this show, will hopefully create a similar mood to the manga.

Collectonian

Agreed on the mood...especially if a spoiler I just accidentally read is true about upcoming events. Must remember to never work on the Wikipedia articles of stuff I haven't finished reading or watching yet. :noodle:

Ooooh - pretty. I love the manga for the pretty, although the story really isn't particularly coherent, so I'll probably check this out. Especially if Viz picks it up quickly.

The placeholder picture has been replaced by the real homepage (http://www.vampire-knight.jp/index.html). It has sections for Story, Characters (with pictures of some of the side characters), a blog etc. The director writes in the first blog message that some really unexpected people might just write in the blog. ;)

Yeah, I'm really digging the character designs for just about everyone.

I read a brief summary of the manga and the story didn't really sound all that interesting, but the show looks really nice, so I'm probably gonna end up watching it.

It didn't stream very well for me. It's not the best promo either, butt hay, it's something.

Pretty boring trailer.
Just a montage of the art already on the site and some screens (I guess of the 1st episode?).

Well, I've said it multiple times, but it looks really nice.
Wish I could've seen something animated though instead of just stills.

I was disappointed that there was no actual animation in the trailer because I would like to see what sort of budget DEEN are giving this series.
