As many of you know, Bandai Visual will be releasing a new HD remaster of the classic 1984 film Macross: Do You Remember Love? on DVD in late December.
This is my favorite anime movie ever, so I'm very tempted to get this. However, I've become spoiled by Blu-ray / HD DVD quality over the past year, and I'd say my days of dropping $100 on a standard definition DVD are over - especially when I know an HD master is involved. Otoh, HDM is still a niche, and it does seem that a number of people are buying it. Thus, I made a poll.

Will be buying both (assuming a Blu-Ray version does indeed come out someday, which is pretty likely), but will probably sell off the DVD on Yahoo Japan. I probably wouldn't bother with the DVD if I couldn't easily sell on YJ, though.

Wasn't going to, but when I saw all the premiums packed with it, I couldn't resist. The value for the price is awesome.

I chose Yes, I plan to buy both the Macross DYRL DVD (LE) and Macross Flashback 2012 by next month.
I won't buy any BR/HD-DVD edition while this idiotic format war is still going on :p

Yes, I am buying the DVD release. I will also buy the HD-DVD or Blu-ray version when one of the formats becomes the clear victor.

Well you have a point there, but in Japan the format war is no longer there ! at least not like how it is in the US.

And I'm precisely waiting for the US market to determine the winner ;) as this market is probably the biggest in the world (or so I think), any victor there would have a tremendous advantage on the world market.
(...that, and I'm perfectly happy with my DVDs and not feel like needing to switch for possibly more restrictive mediums)

I am. I would double dip for a HD DVD release, or any subtitled release, including Blu Ray (be enough reason to convert)

I'll wait for the BD release. I already have the old R2 DVD which is enough to tide me over until then.

I never got around to grabbing the old R2, so I'm definately up for this, remastered & so much more content, and the same price.
And if it's released again with subtitles, I'll be all for whatever format.

I'm wondering if the regular edition case cover will be used for the case inside the LE box.
It looks a new illustration as well. I much rather have Minmay & Hikaru than the shrew & him  . I'd have to buy the RE also as its too late to cancel my LE order now (unless I invalidated my CC)

Let's see, so far I have bought the horrid Kiseki "Clash of the Bionoids" and "Do You Remember Love?" videos, the CAV LD and the DVD... Yep of course I am buying it! The L.E will be mine in a few weeks along with the first 3 City Hunter singles. It will be held up waiting for Ayu's GUILTY cds to be released though. Damn I wish it wasn't another 1 January release, it always takes longer to get here cause of stupid Christmas holidays :(
EDIT: I will of course pre-order the inevitable BD version as well as the TV series on BD if it happens, I hope it does.

Both for me. My LE DYRL DVD should be shipping soon and I'll get the Blu-ray release when it comes out in 10 years :)
