So got Texhnolyze today and wondered if there was any interest in an episode by episode discussion? I'd love to do at least 1 a day (maybe 2) but I'll do what ever the consensus is. I enjoy anime much more I have found when I have some outlet for discussion about it.

You should just post your impressions. Episode by episode impressions regarding Texhnolyze have been done before (by me when my SETA pairing with Air of Benevolence was in full swing and then one other person) and have been done quite thoroughly. Texhnolyze was so exhausting that while exceedingly masterful, I don't want to revisit it anytime soon. If it's an ABe-related anime, you can bet that it's been thoroughly discussed on AoD.

Figure I might as well ask...
Would you or anyone else be interested in my Texhnolyze analysis? There are been two major threads by Serial Experiments Nobou (Nobuo? Why you'd chnge it from NieA?!) that are notable but they don't extensively detail the narrative, it's general focus and details, and ultimately its conclusions.
Typed it up recently in reply to a person on another forum and would have to clean it up a bit, but I would love to post it here. Just would like to see if there are some curious folks around here that wouldn't mind having "an answer" to what TEX is ultimately about and how the elements of the story come together to construct that message.

I'd love to see it after I have watched the show. I will start posting my own impressions after I start watching it but I don't want to get in trouble for bumping my own thread...

See the "eh?" link in my signature for the answer for that one... ;)
But yes, when I watched Texhnolyze for the first time about a year ago, I ran both an episode impressions thread and then an overall impressions thread after finishing it.
My episode discussions thread (mostly spoiler free, up to the current episode) can be found here (http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/13806/post/295295/hl//fromsearch/1/), and the overall series discussion (with spoilers) is here (http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/14480/post/309258/hl//fromsearch/1/), if you're interested in taking a look at those.
Incidentally, the reason I did the episode thread the way that I did was that I found it difficult to do an episode by episode detailed narrative due to the way that the series is presented.

Thanks...can I post to these or are they to old and should I just make my own episode by episode impressions? Thanks!

I have no objections if you start up a new thread. That was just over a year ago, and I'm sure there are others who will be watching it for the first time now as well and could join you with their own first-time impressions.
Without spoiling it, I'll just say to be prepared for a very emotionally taxing series. Texhnolyze is excellent, but wow can it take a toll on your psyche.

I have no objections, it's just a pretty complex series to analyze. I haven't watched it in some time ,although I remember the overall story-arc. Def one of the most depressing series ever.

Which is why I have popotan to cut it. Ok it will likely be after christmas now. I thought I was going to have time to watch it but that has slipped away and if it is as depressing as I suspect it is I won't be able to watch to many episodes at one time.
So get ready to watch some depressing anime with me, we can hold each others hands when we cry... :noodle:

Depressing isn't exactly the right word for it; Texhnolyze isn't a weepy drama. Parts of the series are depressing in some ways, but it goes beyond that... this is a dystopia. Reaching for your hankie will be the least of your worries as the series progresses.
Texhnolyze is an extremely dense series... it took me a good month or so after I had finished watching it to really be able to grasp everything that I had seen. Even now, while I look forward to watching it again, at the same time I almost don't want to. Kind of like Grave of the Fireflies, which I've still only watched once to this day.

I guess I should have qualified what I meant by depressing. Def not in the weepy romance novel way, I meant the soul-sucking kind. Probably the most nihilistic anime I've ever seen. I guess one had to be made, no?

Ug as I have a predilection for being depressed I think I will wait on this one then and be sure to separate it with other more light anime. I knew what you meant though. Nihilism especially the soul sucking kind leaves me curled in a ball crying usually.

This is so untrue and sadly so common a misinterpretation by folks of this series.
If you want an anime that is truly hopeless and without reason or hope, watch Grave of the Fireflies; hell, even Jin-Roh is darker than Texhnolyze.
TEX's painted picture isn't one scattered with flowers and sunshine (ironic, considering what happens in the series), but there is a positive testament to the human spirit in the series that I aim to detail with posting my analysis.

Interesting it will be interesting to see where I fall in the spectrum of what I think about this as it seems to be broader than I expected.

Well now that I've had more time to think about it, Tehxnolyze does serve as a warning to humanity. Spoiler
The above ground civilization died(lack of procreation) due to ennui, and the below ground civilization lost their reason completely and destroyed themselves in an orgy of violence. The message here is find the middle ground between out of control passions and ennui.

To that point, there is one single word that can be used to describe the outcome of the series... and just to be doubly sure that I don't spoil anything for the OP, I'll even hide it: catharsis.
