I haven't ever got to play this game, but I'm curious to check it out, since I loved La Pucelle and want to try some other Nippon Ichi games. There's a remake out on PSP now, but I don't have a PSP at the moment. I was wondering - what are the pros and cons of the remake version over the PS2 one (what's different or new? for better or worse?).

its pretty much the PS2 game, with an additional mode (play as Etna after having killing laharal), but its only 3 chapters long.

And the dub voice for Etna is different.

I've been enjoying it

Hmmm... I know I saw a mention of this on the English Track, so I'm curious. Is that the only character, or were other characters redubbed?

I've played most of the R1 PS2 Nippon Ichi games and Disgaea is still my favorite, even more so on the PSP. The PSP version is widescreen and the game play is very well suited to the PSP. I've already played through the main story line twice and am now near the end of the Etna side story. It's not a huge addition to the over all plot or anything but it's a fun extra.

Hopefully it'll be a big enough success that they'll will start releasing other Nippon Ichi games on the PSP.

You mean remakes of old NIS titles? Because otherwise, there are five other NIS titles on the PSP, according to the wiki. Those are:

Generation of Chaos
Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light
Spectral Souls
Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos
Dragoneer's Aria
Now, I don't know those games from a hole in the ground, so you tell me if they're any good.

I would want a La Pucelle re-release, at the very least with the New Game+ and optional bosses that were not in the American release.

I haven't heard much about those either. I was refering more to games like La Pucelle Tactics, Makai Kingdom, Phantom Brave, etc. They were all games with very similar gameplay mechanics to Disgaea that should also work well on the PSP.

Those are games published by NIS in the US, but aren't really games one would consider NIS titles - they were all developed by other Japanese developers.

only her as far as i knowSo who are the two actresses for Etna and what are the pros and cons of each performance?

I'm planning to buy a PSP and I also want to get Disgaea, but I'm not sure if I want to get the regular Disgaea or the PSP version. Also, since I don't have a PSP yet, are there any gameplay issues with the PSP version vs. the regular one?

The Nintendo DS has that stylus, does the PSP have any weird things like that?

No, the PSP is a 'basic' games console - think Game Boy, Game Gear, Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket Color, etc. Only difference is that the games come on discs, so you need a memory card to save progress. It does play media files from the memory stick though, pushing it slightly towards the iPod's demographic.
