Looks like someone is a little cranky about how the mecha trend is no longer as prominent as it used to be.

I can't blame the fandom if they want to exchange their giant robots for a harem.

I hope you replied to me by mistake because I have no clue what you are talking about.

No, it wasn't meant to address you, but the OP.

Check some of the other posts. All of them "reply" to their previous poster without actually addressing what they said.

That's because they don't know how to post properly. If it's a general reply you respond to the root post.

Don't make it such a big deal. There isn't an "add reply" button on the bottom of the board like other forums usually have.

No, they don't "all" do that. I certainly do not.

It's bad posting etiquette, because it creates exactly this sort of problem. Please reply to the correct post, or if you can't be bothered to spend the extra 10 seconds, please make it more explicit who you are talking about.

*sigh* I'm not making a big deal out of anything. This whole exchange would have been unnecessary if you had simply followed correct posting guidelines. When someone replies to my post it is normal to assume they are addressing me. Do we have to argue about everything little thing?

Wow. Just wow. (http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showpost.php?post/598782/)

This is an Internet Forum. You are not the judge, arbiter, or moderator of right and wrong here. Nor is it your right to state, categorically, by shouting in caps, that you are in fact right.

Whether the poster somehow violated some arcane posting etiquette, which I remind you is not written anywhere and is but a guideline, does not mean you can just browbeat them into submission. Forum etiquette is a recommendation, a suggestion, and something to often make discussion easier. But there is not one single way of doing anything.

Which, by the way in case you missed it, is pretty much the entire point of this entire thread.

There is room enough in fandom for all types. Or there should be.

Wait, what?

What exactly does him not doin' it right have to do with personal taste in anime?

There's a distinct difference between not caring for a certain type of anime, and not being able to take the few extra seconds of effort to respond properly to a thread.

Totally unrelated subjects and I fail to see how you are comparing them.

(I did over react a bit, and I apologize)

Edit: and as for it not strictly speaking being a rule, it damn well should be, if we are going to stick to this type of forum.

They are unrelated in terms of subject matter, however, they are related in that some people are taking relatively hard line positions here.

If you like Moe, great. If you dont, you dont. Either way there should be room for both.

Just like there is room for both those who do always post in whatever internet etiquette fashion is in the rage today (I'd note, replying to the original root post is really only a big deal if you use threaded, if you read in flat it makes less difference, especially if you quote) and those who make mistakes.

Sure, repeated and constant mistakes that cause problems time and time again need to be corrected. But a few mistakes here and there will happen.

There needs to be more tolerance amongst fans. If we are not tolerant of each other, well, it's for sure that no one else will be. I think we can all agree that fandom has enough problems without fans going off on each other.

I'm tolerant of mistakes.

I'm not tolerant of people who argue after being corrected nicely.

Follow the chain of responses. If he'd gone "oh, sorry, I'll make sure not to do that again" or some such instead of what he did post, then this wouldn't even be an issue would it?

Similarly, the OP (and others) in this thread seem incapable of altering their position on "moe" even in the face of repeated explanations that they are interpreting things completely incorrectly. THat doesn't mean they have to LIKE the shows as such, they just don't need to blame "moe" for everything they feel is wrong with the anime industry.

This whole sub-thread has kind of wandered off-topic, so I'm locking it.
