Could you please make your topic title more vague?

Theres been times where I've liked a villain more then the hero, but clothes? I can't think of anyone right off the bat. I do like Zakus compared to Gundams

The only series that comes to mind for me is Last Exile. Dio's character design is nice.

It's one of the laws of Anime. Villians have to dress better than good guys, otherwise they won't take them seriously. Besides, villians all have better tailors anyway.

The good guys are busy saving the world and bringing truth and justice to the masses. They don't have time to simply sit around tailors' shops and getting fitted for cool looking clothes. Villains often have plenty of free time. Heroes have day jobs.

Why do you think Leader Desslar and the Zabis look so prim and proper while the good guys look like escapees from the Thrift store. :P

Also let's not forget higher level villains can rely on underlings to do most of the fighting. Well at least until the near of the series when the plot requires them to get involved. Still in all seriousness as for which have bette clothes, I'd say it's a case by case basis. I'm also too lazy to find examples right now and knowing me, I will likely continue to do be too lazy.

good guys tend to do the dirty jobs, hence their workclothes. Catch them off-duty or on vacation, and they're probably sporting the latest fashions just like their evil brethren.

It's one of the laws of Anime. Villians have to dress better than good guys....

It does seriously seem to be a long term Law.

Exception that proves the rule: Legend of the Galactic Heroes. At the level of those who wear uniforms, you really can't score one side or the other as bad at or below the level of the two top "heroes" (Yang and Reinhard; above them is another story, there aren't that many that are evil per se wearing uniforms (the politicians above these two tend to be serious villains), although incompetent is another matter...).

So the Free Planets soldiers get the best looking uniforms, the Empire the sharp looking ships (the excuse for the latter is that they can land on planets).

Hmmm does seem to happen quite often. Compare and contrast Light vs L's duds. Light is usually seen in a fancy suit while L is in Target-wear.

Hmmmm, so evil is stylish while good is comfortable.

I've always thought that those metrosexual guys at work were evil... now I'm sure. :)

In this case though, it's deliberate. It has to do with their personalities.

Light sees himself as one of the elite and so dresses accordingly. L, on the other hand, is not concerned about personal appearances and thus dresses with whatever happens to be available. He probably wears the same things over and over and one day notices a hole in a shirt that's too large to cover up and walks into the first store he sees, buys the first shirt he sees, and walks out wearing it.
