 So soon on the heels of ADV's abandonment of their 24/7 Anime Network channel comes word that the company will cease publication of Newtype USA in February-- and replace it with some other currently unknown magazine.
This could be a mere shift in priorities like the Anime Network closure is suspected to be, or perhaps a result of Newtype USA's Editor in Chief Chris Johnston leaving at the end of November; some even wonder if it may not involve the original publisher of Newtype in Japan, Kadokawa Shoten. Nothing is known for sure yet, but I doubt ADV will leave us hanging-- and they DO promise a new magazine to replace the old. well, there goes one of the big publications. ADV has contacted retailers and told them that February will be the final issue of Newtype USA. According to ADV, Newtype USA is going to be replaced by another magazine, although it's not clear what the new magazine will be like. The magazine's high price tag that came due to the large, glossy pages and DVD inserted for a while into the magazine was the most likely cause of ADV's decision to end the magazine. Their main competition was Anime Insider, whose circulation was between 50,000 and 75,000 copies sold each month. Attracting advertisers for a niche market like this would've been tough for ADV, and it's understandable to completely switch formats. Now, how do you think ADV should change their magazine? I'd suggest doing a blog, but then you'd just come into competition with us here at Japanator. And we can't have that

Not exactly sure what this has to do with True Tears. You might want to create a topic in the R1 forum (http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showforum.php?fid/25/) about this however.

It is better to keep the posts on topic to the thread's subject.
