Question about Rune Soldier "love triangle"...

I guess I'll have to make 2 posts of the same thing since the anime and manga are very different...in this subject in particular.


Ok, in the anime:

It's extremely obvious what Ila feels for Louie. However, Louie sees her as her best friend.

He might feel something for Melissa (am I right?) but Melissa doesn't particularly show up any interest in him.

...not even the moment in the chapter where Melissa has to work. I don't think she felt something for him (as a man). At least I don't think so... I prefer to take what the song says literally because of 2 things.

1. The song actually says "he's my hero" ; and since that's been the whole point of the series I believe that at that point is when she actually accepts him as such.

2. When they're friends show up and find them together, they don't seem to react as there's something more there. Especially if you take in consideration Ila. No point in comparison to how she felt/reacted when they were on their adventure with Celecia.


On top of all... in the end when they leave. She doesn't feel particularly upset. And it seems as, and she believes it so, that all of them are going to come back.


So, here it is obvious Louie and Ila are not going to end up together; because Louie doesn't feel that way for her. However, it seems like he and Melissa won't be together either; even if he feels something for her.


I'd like to believe that because Ila is my favorite character. But more so than that, all 4 of them became extremely good friends. And it would hurt Ila so much more to see Louie and Melissa together... than if Louie ends up with another girl.

And one point aside... that would be too cliche. Melissa and Louie don't have to end up together just because he's her champion; Look at Ms. Jenny and King Rijaar.

Don't be so quick to count Ila out in the Louie love sweepstakes. She understands how big guy feels about her and it hasn't stopped her one bit. Why you may say? Because she also understands how stupid he is and that she can for the most part manipulate him. Only when there is another manipulatative rival around does she get worried like when Celecia showed up.

Louie for the most part sees all the girls as his sisters in one way or another. Ila knows this so she isn't worried about them, it also helps that she can play them almost as well as Louie.

Melissa for the most part is coming around to seing Louie for the hero he can be. Not a lover so she is in the same boat as Merrill & Jeanie, both of whom it could be argued have more of a chance of hooking up from the way they interact with the big dummy.

Really shows that even if the anime is mostly comedy, there was more in depth meaning to the characters that most people would notice.

Comes to show that you could also get the different shade of colors the characters have.

Plus, if you think that about Ila, she just gets more points for me. Rarely the case when you see they put that much interest on a secondary character, much less when the character is an introverted one.

About the spoiler... didn't stop to think about that for one minute. Maybe in Japanese it would be hinted. In the manga it's not.

And even if that were so... for one thing or another they don't end together; so it still proves my case :susel:

Oh in the manga its hinted at even harder then the anime. Don't you find it funny that a high ranking mage like Carwes would be raising a orphen. And in the previews of the manga that ADV stopped putting out its helleva hinted at by
Ms Jenny seemly to have a rather low opinion of the king and there history together. And the king seems to act and look like a lot like Louie.

In the anime Ms Jenny is alway spouting for Melissa to sleep with her champion and that
she show a lot of affection for dummy. Maybe a motherly affection? Add to the fact that the king
was rather amused at all the damage louie caused and he just looks more like Louie then his so-called real son Prince Renard
.

In the end I see Louie
a lot like Scott Evil who was told he was artifical when he was really naturally concived the son of Dr. Evil and Frau Farbissina.

Plus, if you think that about Ila, she just gets more points for me. Rarely the case when you see they put that much interest on a secondary character, much less when the character is an introverted one.

Some secondary character as she is the main focus of the whole ending credits!

Still my bet is on Ila roping him in when the time is right as its obivious she love him truely. It just going to take some time to fence him in.

Well, what you said about Louie it is true but at the end it was clearly stated why. As for her, my guess is that the 3 of them traveled together and had so many adventures that they're like family. So, given the circumstances of him... why not tenderly care for him?

And about Ila... yeah, I know! I love that! Especially since in the manga she barely shows up. :cry:

I don't think I ever felt this way for an animated character (and I've seen quite of them since I love both animation and horror; don't ask me why :crazy: )... much less for a secondary one. But she truly shines!

I'd really like to think about it that way since she deserves it... more so than him of course.

... but that's just me.

Oh Ila is my favorite girl even above hot elf chick Celecia and "ITS AGAINST MY WILL" Melissa. Ila is smart, rich, loves to party and oh so hot with her glasses.

Of course I'm a little strange as my second favorite girl is actually Isabel and Merrill. For some reason I like them a little bitchy and self-centered.

That's Merrill and you most likely have to play second fiddle to her Darling Jar IV. But yeah she is a spunky one. I use to have a gashapon figure of her with nothing but some ribbon and a smile. :virgin: :virgin: :virgin: Not sure where its packed up now.

AWESOME!!! I also love those things about Ila.

She's the only "person" I know that makes glasses look sexy. :crazy:

Plus, on top of all that you said. I love the fact that even tough she's rich... that doesn't get in the way of her character.

She hangs out with regular people. Even though she would be able to help people with her money she chooses to act as one of them instead of giving them money. And on top of that, she doesn't show it off in any way.

Plus she's a very good hearted person... with an attracting personality; she's doesn't show her emotions in the way that Merrill does, but if it comes to that she could.

Plus, she does know she's sexy. Takes advantage of it but in such a subtle way... if she was real or a woman like that I've been in love. :beat:

I don't know how they were able to make a "dork" person this sexy.

Oh now I remember. Nah Merrill would be better since she willing to wear some skimpy ass outfits as Melissa found out. That girl isn't as bashful hell even her everyday outfit was slutty compared to Odesa.

Coming in a little late to this one, but:

I agree with Ape2020 that Ila's got a shot. Louie is a big dolt and a smart girl like Ila could have him wrapped around her finger, with some work.

The end credits show that she definitely has the goods.

The things is that the relationship between the characters differ WAY different from the manga.


You know how Merrill and Louie relate to each other in the anime? like big brother and sister. In the manga that's not the case. She doesn't like him at all.



... well, this "triangle" is also way different in the manga. So that's what I'm asking. Your opinion is based on the anime... that's good. :susel:
