View Full Version : How much anime do you watch at a time?

1 episode per sitting?
Multiple episodes?
Entire series?
Multiple series?

As for me, I usually watch 1-2 episodes at a time on my PC. When I'm watching DVDs, I usually try to go through all of the disc.

I usually never marathon a series, unless it's all on 1 DVD. Though I never marathon an entire series on my PC, even if it's a short 3-6 episode OVA series.

I usually try to watch all of it without pausing or skipping anything, using OPs/EDs for whatever minimal breaks I need.

If it's on DVD, I marathon. If it's new shows I'm watching weekly, it depends on how much is out but it'll be anywhere from 1 to 5 eps a night, probably, depending on how caught up in imageboards I get.

Honestly there is no set answer I can give for this as it varies day by day. Sometimes I'll watch episodes from various series. Sometimes I'll watch a DVD or two. Sometimes I'll marathon a show or at least watch a chunk of episodes from it. Then there are times I'll barely watch anything if at all. Yeah I know, but I do on occasion have the urge to listen to music or play games instead.

I usually watch one episode a day.

I also usually only watch one series at a time, but I sometimes do two. It's rare that I do more than two, though. However, that's exactly what I'm doing right now. I'm watching Kannazuki No Miko, Popotan, and Girls Bravo.

Between one to possibly three or four episodes a day on my computer. Sometimes every other day. When I'm trying to marathon something, I watch as many episodes as I can for as long as I can.

When I watch a DVD, I always watch everything at once. When I marathon a series on a DVD, I try to do the entire thing at once, which usually takes a whole day depending on the number of episodes.

Lately, though, I haven't been so great at scheduling what I watch...

Somewhere between 2-4 eps per sitting (i.e. per night) (gosh, that would be 3!)

I don't marathon since I rarely have that much time. Also, I'm watching about a dozen shows at once ( :sd: ) (trying to whittle that down), and tend to jump between them from episode to episode. Which means it always feels like I'm not making any progress on anything. :sigh:

Usually I try to do a disc per day. Sometimes I even succeed. But I don't watch multiple discs in one sitting or anything.

I try to watch a 3 or 4 episode DVD in one shot (longer 6-8 episode DVDs usually take two days to get through.)

I'll watch the opening/ending once per disc if I like them, and once per series if I don't. Previews get watched if they're short or entertaining.

I will usually alternate between 2-4 series at a time.

Once a disc is in I'll watch the whole thing, so 3-5 episodes depending on the disc.

On a weekend if a start a series I'll finish it before starting anything else be it 13 episodes or 52 episodes. Plenty of free time for me, so it's usually just deciding what to watch.

It can vary drastically. At any given time, I'm following at least 5 series, usually more. I may watch one episode, I may marathon several discs, or I may watch 6 episodes from 4-5 different shows.

One episode each of two series at a time, averaging 4-5 days per week. It's about all I have time for with my schedule, and it's the way I've watched anime since I started collecting almost 8 years ago.

So while it's slow by many of the other AoDers' standards - some might describe it in terms of geologic time since it can take me more than a month to watch a standard 26 episode series (well, two of them, really) - it works for me. :sweatdrop:

Usually 1 disc at a time. I do some marathons of older shows I've bought in collections, but otherwise it's one disc at a time.

Usually 2 hours (4-5 eps) a day. Full series marathons on the first and last days of lengthy college vacations.

All over the map really. Anymore there are a few I watch one at a time because I can burn them to DVD+RW and watch them on the tv through the dvd player (my preferred viewing method). The rest, which often are my favorite shows of the season, I tend to fall behind on for one reason or another and then marathon on a weekend to catch up. Some shows work really well marathoned and some don't, but I think I luck out most of the time.

For DVD I always watch volumes I buy as soon as they come in, and always the entire disc at once. On re-watches I try to come as close to marathon as possible, usually finishing a series in a week. Seeing the whole story in a short period often changes the presentation of the show so it keeps things fresh.

It really depends. On my PC it's usually a new series that I'm catching up on or checking out the latest episode. On my HDTV I'm usually rewatching a whole series at once or I spread it out.

Like other people said it depends. If I'm really into a show, I'll watch as much of it as I can. If the show isn't so good, maybe I'll take it an episode at a time.

At least 2 episodes consecutively. If I have the time though, I like to watch a disc per day - exceptions being the rare 6 episode volume.

On weekends, I'll generally watch 2 to 3 discs per day, depending on how much time I have, how much I'm enjoying the series, and how long the show is - I will usually try and watch more if the show is over 26 episodes in length.

Whenever I sit around to watch some anime for the day, I watch 2-3 episodes.

It depends if its the weekend and my parents were out lol cause we only have one tv and it wouldn't be fair me hogging the t.v to marathon anime shows lol
so when I get new shows 1 disc, older shows try to limit to a couple episodes, but I don't watch anime everyday since there isn't always time to. Yet there is plenty of time to check email and post comments here hehe
When my parents are gone for the weekend or on a trip I sit at home and watch a whole series or a few episodes if I have to go to work.I stay up till 3am to finish a series if it is the weekend and my parents are on a trip for a few days. lol

Heh and then there's the fun of trying to remember which images I actually saved before. Plus the fun of sorting. I wonder what it would be like if I increased the amount of imageboards I visited.

Like other people said it depends. If I'm really into a show, I'll watch as much of it as I can.

In my case if I really love the show I'll end up re-watching it in part or in full thus pushing several series further into backlog status because I can and I'm that hopeless. On a side note I have to admit sometimes it's caused by a spur of the moment thing. Where reading threads may compel me to re-watch a series for whatever reason.

One or two episodes every other night before bed. Weekends is my time to finish up the disc if I haven't done so in the week.

I've been gaming more than watching anime lately.

There is a solution to that in the form of Image Dupeless. I just save everything now and let it figure out what there is multiple of. :)

Interesting, but I'm fine with the self-sorting and occasional clean up method. Which includes completely eliminating some "folders". What's funny is sometimes learning more about a series can cause me to stop collecting images and delete the folder. Simply because it goes from those pretty images from that unknown series to a harsh reminder of a bleh series. However then again in some case learning more makes me more likely to go for images.

Last time I did a "self cleaup" it took 3 weeks, and I mean all of my free time for 3 weeks. I think I deleted about 150,000 files that time too. Trust me, Image Dupeless is about 1000x nicer.

Ouch I'm not sure if I ever had that much. Currently I have 21,517 files. I think completely eliminating folders helps speed things up sometimes.

I watch between 2-4 eps a day, mostly 2 or 3. A bit more generous on weekends, like 3-5. And i watch anime about 4-5 days a week.
So i basically watch a dozen episodes a week on my TV.
Only 1 or sometimes 2 at most series at a time, if possible.

I tend to only save a few images I really like, so taking up too much space or having many duplicates isn't usually a problem for me. Good thing too, since I don't have that much space on my HD. :sd: I have become quite an image addict lately regardless, consuming much more of my time than usual. Need to get to watching some more anime... and video games (with my new PSP)

When I watch, I usually only watch about a volume's worth at a time. I'll go through more if I'm marathoning or watching with someone who wants to martahon. I take some breaks regardless.

For me, it varies alot. Depends if I am watching it during a weekday, a weekend, on DVD that I buy, on DVD that I rent, on TV from my Tivo, and on my computer. I seldomly do a marathon as I don't have enough time to do it in that fashion and that I do need breaks whenever I can. If I rent a DVD, I usually try to view it as fast as I can whereas with a DVD that I own, I watch it more slowly.

I'll try to watch a disc a night until the show's over - I just finished rewatching SuperGALS, Planetes and I'm starting Kare Kano again (although I got all of Patlabor TV in the post today, so I'll probably start that instead).

I don't usually watch stuff that's not on DVD, although I made an extremely rare exception for a Dennou Coil marathon over the weekend.

At the least 2 eps a day, normally one DVD per night before I get to bed - currently rewatching my Xmas stock in Japanese - depending on my schedule (writing, exercise, voodoo...you know the usual) I'll fit in a few more episodes, especially if it's a series I'm really into or looking forward to (Hayate No Gotoku and Aria The Origination the big culprits at the moment...)...

Last semester, it was one disk in one sitting (only watching one series at a time), but that was because I worked a decent enough of time at work (and I really don't do a lot at my job).

I figure it will be on the same timeframe as last semester, but that all depends on my workload as well as the speed of Netflix. (I've been using that to watch my anime lately, since I don't make all that much money at work with it being a college work study and all. :sd: )

Whole disc. 2-3 discs at a time if I'm marathoning. Usually only one series at a time, unless the shows are wildly different from each other.

I usually watch the whole disc. Sometimes if I have more spare time, I'll try two separate shows. However right now I'm watching Ergo Proxy and I could only watch two episodes each day. It was putting me to sleep. That's not a good sign. Off to vol. 2. :P

I tend to watch one or two episodes a day, depending on how many other things I have to do after getting back from work... as for how many series I have going at once, I once tried following five series on DVD, but I somehow started getting uncertain as to whether I was missing things, and have cut back to two or three at a time... on the other hand, when I count the fansubs I'm also following, I don't seem to have cut back that much.

Like many others here, it really varies for me.

I'd say my average is about 5-7 episodes per day, but the way that plays out in reality, it's usually more like a single episode or a whole slew of 10-12 all at once.

Then, of course, there is the occasional outlier supplied by a caffeine-induced 37 episode non-stop marathon. O.O

On DVD I usually watch an entire disc in one sitting, whereas on the PC I only watch a couple episodes at a time. As for how many individual series I watch concurrently, I seem to enjoy the series more if I just watch one at a time, unless they're far apart, genre wise.

For currently airing episodes, it's whenever someone here (usually something) starts talking and I realize a new episode's out.

As for DVDs, I like to watch a whole DVD in one setting when I can (unless I just wanted to see a specific episode). I also like to watch two or three in a row, although that's not practical on most days. :sd: However, I tend to make the time for DVDs that end on a cliffhanger.

As for the image sub-discussion: 27,291. Boy, I'm really glad it's only 6.41 gigs. I was recently thinking it was a lot worse. :sd:

For the past few weeks I've been watching one disc per day right before I go to sleep. This also helps in rating the shows. Shows that have me dozing off get lowered in priority. Lets say if I start watching the first disc of a complete series and I doze off then I stop watching it and start a different show.

It took me a month to finish aquarian age. Recently I stopped watching Misaki chronicles and Yugo after two episodes each.

It varies with me on a constant basis. It just depends on the time I have. Sometimes I get to marathon and other times its a few episodes every now and then and then sometimes it a couple on months of none what so ever.

I never watch just one series. I'm always watching more than five it seems. Although, I only watch about 1-3 episodes per night, depending on how busy I am or if I want to do something else like play a video game or read manga. On the weekends, I watch even less for some reason. Although, I only seem to watch the DVDs I buy on Saturday nights if I'm home. Usually I'll go through an entire disc, so that's about four episodes or one movie's length.

It heavily depends on the situation. I usually bring an episode or two in on my flash drive to watch while I eat lunch. If I've got a large backlog of stuff, I tend to watch as much as I can in a sitting (like now- I've got the last 4-5 eps of Kamichama Karin & Sky Girls to go through plus a bunch of other releases from the last 2 weeks or so). With DVDs, I almost always wait until I can go through the whole thing in one sitting.

I'm looking forward to getting rid of the remaining backlog I've got so I can just be watching the new episodes that come out over lunch (well, at least of the shows I'm comfortable watching while at work...)

Usually I watch 2 to 3 eps per night during the week. Maybe more on weekends. If I have the time and the show's really engrossing edge-of-your-seat stuff, I might get through 6 to 8 episodes then.

Well, my intention is to watch only an episode a night. In actuality, I usually watch the whole disc, even on weekdays. This is why I've moved anime to the weekends.

I still don't get enough sleep, however, as weeknights are now PS2 game (my friend gave me several he was not playing anymore) nights. :sd:

It really depends more on what I have bought recently. :sd:
I kind of watch anime on a regular basis, though it mostly becomes background noise to whatever I'm doing at the moment. That is usually three or four discs. WHen I do sit down to watch it, the numbers depend on what new stuff I buy. I rarely wait to watch anything new I get. I try to polish off two discs on any given night I have new stuff.
However, If i borrow many discs from a friend, I try to get through it asap, so I tend to marathon. This one weekend, I borrowed 12 discs of anime from two friends. I got the first six or so on a Thursday. Then the entire series of fate stay night on saturday night. I finished everything by tuesday night.

If it's online, it could be one episode, it could be 4 or 5 episodes. It depends on how far behind I am.

Offline I tend to go through at least one disc (for collections), especially if I just bought it. If I don't, I may never finish out of laziness

I seem to watch my anime in random spurts, so whether it's the weekend or a Wednesday, I would never be able to tell you my "schedule."

Right now I am watching Kirarin Revolution, Princess Tutu, rewatching Marmalade Boy and Comet-san. So... 4 shows.

It really depends for me. I always wake up early enough that I can watch one episode while eating breakfast. On days where I don't have much to do, I'll also watch an episode with lunch. At night, I usually watch anywhere between 1-4 episodes, depending on the day.

I don't marathon series much. I'd like to, but I really don't have the time for it.

Surprisingly, I have much more time to watch anime on weekdays. My weekends aren't busy, but I just don't have the time to sit down.

Mainly, I don't watch anime if there is the chance that I won't get to finish the episode.
