Forgive me if there's already a thread to this effect - I've tried the search function but I've always found the AoD search weak at best.
I know these games have been out a while now and there's not going to be many people still playing them to any great degree but the idea of completing my Pokedex triggers my OCD something fierce. In particular, I want the Gold/Silver starters - Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile, or any of their evolutions so I can breed them. Does anyone have these for trade? I don't have anything mega-rare but I do have 365 Pokemon caught, including all Ruby/Sapphire and Diamond/Pearl starters, so I probably have something to trade for them.
Beyond my own request, this thread could serve as a hub for trades amongst AoD members, if no such thread already exists.

Sadly, no. One of the only ways to get any of the Johto starters into the GB games right now that I know of is to get all the Hoenn Pokemon in Emerald so that Professor Birch allows you to pick one of the Johto starters as a reward. So you need to find someone that's done that and get them to breed and trade........I'd gladly do it for at least one of them, but there's no one in my area who has Ruby version, so I've been unable to collect all Hoenn Pokemon in my Emerald game.
And no, I don't believe such a thread exists. It's been forever since I've played, but I'm sure I could find something I need if I fired my game up....

You're referring to this thread, (http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/18706/) right? We started a Pokemon Diamond/Pearl thread about a month before the games came out last April.
Unfortunately I don't have the Johto starters yet. The only starters I have in my game are Piplup and two of the three Hoenn starters (Treeko and Torchic).

Y'know, I gotta wonder why the Johto Pokemon are so isolated in the the age of GBA and DS. Sure, you can get a lot of them in Emerald, but Johto Pokemon have always been the harder to obtain species since Gold/Silver/Crystal couldn't be transferred to GBA games.

Never mind the fact that Celebi has never been made available outside of Japan, to my knowledge at least. Politoed and Kingdra are big pains too - I can't find a King's Rock anywhere, let alone two and you need that item to evolve Poliwhirl and Seadra, respectively.
Which Ruby Pokemon do you need? I have that game and have transferred all breedables over to my copy of Pearl.

Well, the thing is, I'd need them specifically in my Emerald version, not my Pearl. Since I need to have all the Hoenn Pokemon IN Emerald to get one of the Johto starters. So we'd have to actually trade in person for that, which ain't happenin' 'cause you're in the UK and I'm in the US. :P Getting normal Hoenn Pokemon for PEARL version is no problem, since I have Pearl and my brother has Diamond, so we just trade between each other.
But I think I only need the Hoenn Pokemon that are only available in Ruby. I have Sapphire and Emerald, so I have access to all the others.

Yeah, I know. Normally I just try to convince my brother to buy the other version himself so we can trade with each other. I remember I convinced him to buy Fire Red (since I have Leaf Green) and Ruby, but he's hardly played through them at all. I think I may just see if I can play through them and get what I need myself. :P

I've just double checked Serebii.net - Kindra doesn't need a King's Rock after all; it's Slowpoke into Slowking. Still means I need two of the damn item... Anyone know if a Pokemon has a King's Rock as a wild hold item?

It was. In North America it came out on the Pokemon Colosseum bonus pre-order disc. In Europe it was available on Pokemon Channel.
Of course, both require you to have a Gamecube (or a Wii, actually), a GBA, and a GBA->Gamecube link cable.
The Johto starters are also available in both Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD.
I can also breed up some Johto starters. If you guys need anything else to complete your collections that is breedable, I can help on that as well.

That was Jirachi not Celebi. As far as I know Celebi has never been available in the US.

Right. I'm getting confused, since you see Celebi in Colosseum.
Celebi did come out in the US at Journey Across America last year though. I got some. I'm not really willing to trade these guys though because they're so rare and mine are actually legit. Plus, you know, the hours of waiting in line for them. It's my nerdly trophy, to wait 2+ hours in line for a stupid Pokemon.
Wasn't there a small distro of Celebi in Europe too? I know Europe got Deoxys that way. Sadly, I never got any Deoxys that Nintendo was passing out.
By the way, since we're on subject... The US should be getting a Darkrai distribution soon. Nintendo even has a Darkrai (http://www.darkrai.com) web site. It'll be in celebration of the new Pokemon movie coming out. Dates and other details haven't been announced. I'm thinking we'll get it the same way we got the last two distributions (Mew and Manaphy), and that's via Toys R Us.

You know that you can also get Manaphy by playing through Ranger. You do some special mission at the end where you save an egg from the sea. You can transfer the egg to D/P and it will hatch into a Manaphy.

Yeah, it was definitely Jirachi, because I have that Jirachi. The Japanese version of that bonus disc got Celebi - we got Jirachi in honor of the Jirachi movie.
But man, I would do anything to get a freakin' Deoxys. I want that guy SO bad. But I was never near any events to get the ticket for Navel Rock, or whatever that island was called. >_>

Yeah. I tried everything possible to delete the save so I could get Manaphy again, including trying to intentionally corrupt the save by pulling the game out when it was saving. No go. It looks like no one has figured out how to make it work to get another from a game cart that has it taken out.

Depends on the event. The Mew and Manaphy events happened at every Toys R Us store in the US. The Celebi event was at every Journey Across America location. There was a bunch of those. For Deoxys, there was only like 5 locations they had it. For me, I think the closest location WAS New York, and that's a several hour drive away plus all of the highway tolls... Not in the Diamond/Pearl games. Slowpoke's held item is the Lagging Tail. Wild Poliwhirl has the King's Rock in the D/P games.
You can also obtain a King's Rock if you have a Pokemon with the Pickup ability (such as Zigzagoon and Pachirishu), but it occurs very rarely and you Pokemon has to be between Levels 11-30.

Although I have to admit, Journey Across America was worth the trip. I have all the starters except for the Chikorita and Totodile lines thanks to the pokemon that were available at the event.

Sorry to jack the trading discussion, but this is something I've been curious about for awhile. Is it detrimental in any way to a Pokemon's stats to have Ditto as one of it's parents? Seems like I heard that somewhere in the past and I'm wondering if it's really true. If it's not, that'll make getting certain characters a little easier for me since I won't have to worry about getting a female of the one I want.

No. It just won't help you learn egg moves or anything.

You can also obtain a King's Rock if you have a Pokemon with the Pickup ability (such as Zigzagoon and Pachirishu), but it occurs very rarely and you Pokemon has to be between Levels 11-30.
That's what I've been hoping for from my lvl.26 Linoone but no luck so far. Time for me to go Poliwhirl hunting then, it seems.
32 bastard Poliwhirls later and no King's Rock - ARGH! Then, my Linoone finally grabs one randomly - whoohoo! That's my Politoed sorted. But I still need another King's Rock to evolve Slowpoke into Slowking. Back to ARGH!
A friend is lending me FireRed hopefully, so that'll let me finish off 001-150 - only need to trade over the starters, Caterpie, Weedle, Nidoran-F, Ekans, Paras, Legendary Birds and Mewtwo I think. I'll still need to trade with folks here for the G/S starters though, since I've not got a LeafGreen to trade with to complete the Pokedex on FR to get a meagre one of them.
For those breeding the G/S starters, is there anything in particular you'd like in trade for them?

It's only in Emerald that you have to complete part of the Pokedex to get a G/S starter - you can't do it in FR or any other version.

*twitch*twitch* :susel:
Why the hell do they make it so damned hard to get a complete Pokedex?! It's bad enough that there's around half a dozen you need to go to an event for, let alone trade across five or so games and complete some of them multiple time just to get the rest. :(
In other news, I just got a Lucario off the GTS. However, it's showing as a Level 63, "Apparently met at level 63" and caught with a Master Ball at the Pokemon League. It also knows Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse, Psychic and Earthquake, the last two being TM moves. Did I get bootlegged or is there a conceivable way the original trainer could have gotten it that way?

This sounds completely wrong, especially considering - even if you COULD use a Master Ball on a Lucario, which cannot be caught wildly - no one in their right minds would waste a Master Ball for that since you can just get a Riolu egg for free with little effort.

Bah, thought so. Oh well, I'll be releasing that one then... There's no risk of long-term damage to my game/save/cart from bootlegs, is there?

No. Just release it and you'll be good.
Never put stuff up on GTS unless you're willing to lose it forever. You don't want to lose something good for a cruddy hacked Pokemon.
I say this because while I've got some excellent legit stuff, I have gotten some hacked Pokemon too. Luckily I've never lost anything I cared about. Most Pokemon I put up on GTS are Pokemon I breeded extras of for the purpose of putting up on GTS.
P.S. If you're a nerd and collect Japanese Pokemon for the critters you really like (like I do), they lose their Japanese name if you let them evolve.

I'm kinda curious about this Lucario. Given the high level and the moveset, this looks awfully familiar - isn't this Cynthia's Lucario? My thinking is that the person that had this Lucario must've used some sort of cheat devise to obtain this Pokemon.

Huh, you're right. That IS Cynthia's Lucario. So, yeah, he must've used some cheat to use a Master Ball during a trainer battle and catch the opponent's Pokemon? Is there a cheat that does that?

I don't think so, but there are cheat codes to make any Pokemon have any moves you want. Even moves that are technically illegal for that Pokemon to have (meaning they absolutely cannot learn that move legitly).

There's a cheat devise for the DS called Action Replay, which you can buy at their website:

Umm...hi...I actually have some Pokemon I want to evolve (like 5) through trades and I was wondering if anyone else is up to it.
Oh great, I walked into a ghost thread.

Eh, it's not a ghost thread. It's only been up a week or so. I can grab a bunch of Bidoof later and hook up to wireless and trade back and forth for you, if you like. PM me your Pal Pad code if you like.
