View Full Version : Spore? In September?!
Can it be true that there's finally a release date?

I'll believe it when I see it hitting the shelves.
Al least its good to know it hasn't been cancelled.

I would say the Sept. 7 release date is quite solid. They issued a press release afterall. EA would be absolute fools to announce a date in a press release that they didn't feel they could meet. In any case, I don't care about the game and not excited. :P
A couple other PC gaming news bits from yesterday include Mass Effect in May and confirmation that Red Alert 3 is in development (again).

Mass effect in May! WEEE!!! That and whitcher are the games I am looking forward to most! That game is going to be very fun. I almost got a ps3 for that game, glad to know I am not going to have to!
Spore does look good but I am going to wait for reviews a very ambitious game like that can work out beautifully or it can fall very very flat. Sim earth for example was really bad...

Sim earth for example was really bad...
BUH!!! WAH!!! Bad?? I loved Sim Earth!
Of course, that mainly had to do with the fact that I could make a civilized race and then level their entire planet and start anew, hence the reason Spore intrigues me...
Either way, it looks like I'm either going to have to upgrade my current PC or buy a new PC/Mac (yay BootCamp!) sometime soon...
Probably buy a new PC since my current machine is a little over 2 years old and some of the components are significantly out-dated (I'm running a GeForce 6600 w/256MB VRAM and a AMD 64 X2 3800+ Socket 939 - That socket was replaced by the AM2 a few months after I purchased :( ).

I've always wanted to try Sim Earth, after my friend's (horrible) experience playing it. He had this great world going, when this race evolved (the boofs) and proceeded to destroy everything. Eventually, he managed to create something to get rid of the boofs (moofs) and they got rid of the boofs and then turned on each other and he was left with a world of nothing.

The problem with simEarth like Black and White was really the lack of a GAME. A sim simply just doesn't do it for me. But then The Sims and simcity I just don't understand...

Ah... I love "The Sims 2" for the same reason as "Sim Earth", so I guess it's a matter of taste. I enjoy it because I can completely ruin someone's day without actually hurting anyone. I loved the firebomb add-on to "The Sims" for its ability to totally clear a lot of... *ahem* undesirables. In addition, I've created a strange red-haired utopian society in "The Sims 2" just so I could see how many tombstones I could populate a single lot with...
I know, I know... It's horrible, but amusing at the same time... (http://i32.tinypic.com/2re6xkj.jpg)
I've enjoyed just about all the 'Sim' type games. My only gripe has been that there's just been a limit to the variety of stuff you can build/change. After I run through them all I tend to get bored rather quickly.
The thing I'm hopefull about with Spore is that the variety of creations seems practically unlimited.

bah maybe I just need a goal outside myself I don't know. EVE the online game didn't do it for me either to open ended *shrug*.

I'll believe it when I have it in my hands, though then I'll hopefully be too busy playing and enjoying it to comment that I finally have it ;)
I'm actually surprised that the release date is still so far off, I wouldn't have expected to hear a release date till 2 or 3 months before hand.
