I've played Taiko for the PS2 and enjoyed it, but I've been eying the PSP and DS versions as of late. I've been leaning for the DS version since the concept look cool to use two styluses, but maybe the PSP version has it's own too? If I like one I might just get both, but for now which would be good to start with? Appreciate it. :D

If you can get both (well, at least one of the PSP versions) then go for it because they both offer different gameplay styles.
On paper, the DS one looks like the superior version but in all honesty, while, once you get used to them, the sylus drumsticks work well, you have to make sure you're always playing it on a flat surface and tbh the harder difficulties are next to impossible as the touchscreen seems to have trouble registering multiple hits consecutively.
Also, the DS version has poorer quality sound. Having said that, it has some nice exclusives like the remixed Mario theme.
The PSP ones are, obviously enough, without drumstick support but the control scheme works well, you get a large variety of songs and the sound quality is all the better.
As I said, if you can afford both (the original PSP game should be relatively cheap now, may even be out on "The Best" label) then get 'em both as they're different enough, but you may want to hold off a few months as the second DS game is released soon and features updated songs and new mini-games etc.

Both games are still $50, unless you know of anywhere besides Play-Asia to buy them. But considering it's a music game and quality, I think I'm going to lean for the PSP version then. Now I just need to see if I can grab someones playasia coupon. heh

Ah, sorry about that. I would have thought that the first PSP game would be cheaper, considering it's a few years old.
As for PA coupons, if you mean the $5 off ones, I have dozens of them lying about so PM me if you want one :)

Yeah. But I guess it must either sell that well, or be popular enough to keep it at that price.
Anyways, PM sent. :D I'm going to order the first one for the PSP and see how that goes.

Alright. Taiko 2 for the PSP has shipped. :D Was worried it would be a long wait since it said 5-10 days. Closer to the former. Finally have a Japanese rhythm game instead of Pump It Up Zero and and DJMax2. :D

Finally got it. Took longer then usual, but I went through about ten songs and liking it so far. Easy mode is a bit too easy, with average scores around 98~100%, but tried one of the highest ranked expert songs and got a 57%. ^^;; Yeah...one step at a time. In any case the music is great and I'm going to have fun with this. Although I must admit it feels weird to pay almost 3x for a PSP games then a PS3 game (VF5 deal).
