About a week ago, I finally finished PGR3 and was getting ready to finally play it online but as of late, found 0 players online despite the time of day. I know the game is being shadowed by the recent version but I still find it odd Tournaments are still being held and yet its so empty. I wasn't able to get the last of the achievement points ether for it, sigh. Then I turn towards Tetris Splash for alittle bit the amount of players on that things is smaller then I remembered.

The bottom line is, what online multiplayer games should I look out for the best number of players and ones that are frequently active. Could be arcade games or regular 360 games. Just need some help on what to choose.

The obvious like Halo, Gears, CoD4, Orange Box.
Also the latest Burnout, GuitarHero, R6Vegas, Forza...

Good Online XBLA...let me think.
Puzzle Fighter II but it somewhat lack some players on 360. Aegis Wings, free and much cooler online at 4. Undertow is frentic online.

Go ahead and add me to you friend list if you want.

If you want statistically the most populated online games, check Major Nelson's (http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/02/26/live-activity-for-week-of-2-18.aspx) weekly posting of stats:
1 Call of Duty 4
2 Halo 3
3 Guitar Hero III
4 Gears of War
5 Rock Band
6 Frontlines: Fuel of War (Multiplayer Demo)
7 N+
8 Madden NFL 08
9 FIFA 08
10 Assassin's Creed

The list tracks games being played by LIVE accounts, but the game doesn't necessarily need to have multiplayer. I think Assassin's Creed is the only one on that list that doesn't have MP.

For arcade, I know that Bomberman and UNO have a good online base.

Lost Planet, Forza 2, Call of Duty 4 (if the PS3 version is anything to go by), Burnout Paradise (with friends), PGR4.

Never bothered with Halo 3 but will be like Gears - a total no-no unless it's with buddies or the mic sound off.

There is only one problem with FIFA people that quiet and you don't get your credit for winning. It happens way too much.

Hmmm, so no one owns Ace Combat 6 around here? I have a free one-month Gold membership card that I want to use, but don't feel like playing Gears or CoD4 (I suck too much in comparison to other people).

I think the CoD4 has a great focus on multiplayer. They pretty much took out acheivement point for the online, moved them all to single player, and put leveling challenges in the multiplayer. So each time you accomplish an achievement like challenge (150 kills with a certain weapon, blow up certain targets with a certain perk, etc) you get exp.

Plus it's the only one that runs at 60fps and looks awesome and is intense.

The orange box WAS good online but people seem to be scarce and I don't know if valve has fixed the lagging issues, but TF2 is awesome online, hope it gets revived by the fanbase.

I know there is a bug fixing update coming soon along with new maps. Link (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3166784)

Yup, best online multiplayer experience I've had to date. The maps are getting a little stale now but IIRC there's a couple more pencilled in for a Spring release which will mean me pouring even more hours into it.
