Looks like we might see a Trigun movie after all according to Moonphase.

Nishimura has been doing this FOREVER...
Anyway, hopefully it'll come out in the US soon after Japan (given that I'm pretty sure it was more popular here).

Didn't Geneon loose the Trigun license? With something this big I'm sure someone will distribute it.

Well then that means that someone will rescue the TV series if Geneon doesn't have it.
Another day another Trigun TV release....
Edit: Didn't Trigun TV have 3 releases? It could be the next Eva.

Four, even. Initial release (with or without chrome cover cards, including boxset); Sig Series release; LE tins; Remix singles. Granted, the difference between the initial and the Sig was packaging and disc color, and the difference between the LE tins and Remix singles was how many discs you got in a package, but still.

I wonder what the story will be?

Moon Phase mentions "Vash vs. Wolfwood" and "a completely original story". I guess those of us who were vaguely hoping for a proper ending to the TV series are out of luck, but then that was never too likely.

Oh wow, welcome to the past. I liked Trigun the first time through, years ago on a friend's DVDs, but I've long since stopped caring about it and never felt the urge to buy my own copy. I'll pass on this.
Still interesting to see it coming out after such a long time though. Is there some kind of wider revival of the franchise going on in Japan?

That's too bad :/ Just like when people thought the Escaflowne movie would be a continuation of the series - but was just a retelling, only a little darker.
I hope there's lots of Meryl and Millie, at least. They are awesome.

The manga only just ended, and this news is from the recently released final volume.

Actually, the scenario probably plays into something people would like to see anyway...
Could be a hit.
On that note, I was pretty satisfied how the TV series ended... long recap aside, it pushed action up the ass all the while successfully conveying what it wanted to convey in regards to the overall theme of the show.

My problem was that the ending didn't actually resolve the central conflict. So Vash carries Knives off, and, uh... what then? I was expecting some kind of clever way that he could "beat" Knives without actually killing him, or else somehow win Knives too his side. Instead I just kind of assume Knives wakes up again a bit later and their fight continues.
Yeah, I know this is really common with anime, but that's usually due to running out of manga material. If they were going to deviate from the manga anyway as they did here, there was every opportunity to write an ending that doesn't feel so redundant. (The same applies to Hellsing TV for all the same reasons.)
Don't get me wrong, the fight was cool.
Oh, yes...
I'd probably have to agree with you on that point...
I mean, yeah, I'd probably like to see how all the parties involved would've taken the outcome.
Good point.

Yeah, that kind of killed Trigun for me. It's not a bad show by any stretch, but I got fed up with Vash quickly and having an ending like that was the last straw.

I didn't mind it, because there was an actual fight but at the same time... I must say, if I ever saw an ending with a fight that damn near killed a show for me it would be Cowboy Bebop.... seriously, the fight was like 2 fucking seconds long...build up to what? blink and the whole thing is over...jesus... I love the show, but I can't view the central arc as anything more than anticlimactic.

It's a pity that that crap of an ending had to happen after the climactic moment that was built up between Knives and Vash. Upon further introspection, I used to like the show, despite the recap, the horrible filler episode in the middle, and its unfunny beginnings, but I've become more picky. I doubt Trigun would do anything for me at this point in time.

With Geneon dead, assuming they are not back in any capacity I wonder who licenses it? Whoever ends up licensing it has to give the dub to Animaze (now that we know they are still in business with their Code Geass project). This was a long time coming and certainly, we now have a word of it.
It's a movie based on a series that sold well, multiple times. That just smells like Manga.

I'm surprised that the franchise is getting revived after all this time.
I kind of liked the Trigun TV show, but it wasn't one of my favorites. Whether I'm interested in this movie would depend on how well it was done.

*yawn* Maybe I'll watch it, but the little bit of interest I had in the franchise is long gone. I saw the TV series on Cartoon Network years ago. It was okay but I hated the ending. I was reading the manga for a while but between the lengthy time between volume 11 and 12 and just the general direction of the story, the length, and increasing incomprehensibility of it, I lost interest in that too. If I hear the movie is good, maybe I'll watch it but I can't say I care that much.

Trigun, along with Cowboy Bebop, more or less got me into anime. Thus I feel obligated to watch this.
Plus, it'll have Wolfwood. Even if the story is piss-poor, it'll be watchable due to him alone.

Since Legato was the only thing I really liked about Trigun, I doubt I'll check this out unless word of mouth is good.
