Characters that fans are more forgiving of because they provide fanservice

Something that occasionally crops up:

Occasionally in bishounen anime, there may be a bishie character who is a complete jerk. However just because he looks hot and is likes to angst around shirtless, a lot of fangirls don't dislike him as much as they should.
Also sometimes we have a female character who is a total b*tch but because she constantly provides boob and panty shots, the fanboys seem more forgiving of her b*tchiness.

Is there a character that you think meets that profile? Do you find yourself more forgiving of any particular character's flaws just because they provide fanservice?

I would have to say that is very true when it comes to certain female characters. One off the top of my head like that would be Kuriko Kazetsubaki from Maburaho. She's an utter pain in the ass in most of the series, but provides most of the fan service . . .

No one in Maburaho is as big of a bitch as Yuuna so I don't mind Kuriko at all.

As for the topic itself, I'd have to say most anime lesbians get away with rape and murder just because they are lesbians. :P

though there weren't much fanservice, Talho's attitude (before she got serious, cut her hair, and dressed in business-appropriate attire) was tolerable cause she was smokin' hot in the tight mini-skirt with sexy long hair.

I look the other way with Strawberry Panic's Nagisa and Hikari because they're walking catnip for almost every girl in the show and thus turn from vapid airheads in my eyes to sex kittens with a "molest me" sign over their heads.

What's worse is she actually got worse as the series progressed. She's like the reversal of a Tsundere almost. Still in terms of forgiving attractive girls. It's less that I forgive them. More like admitting their bodies are attractive even if their souls are ugly. Still I'd rather have an attractive girl with an attractive soul.

Exactly and when the four main girls are together their souls shine brightly causing the dark (in the bad way) souls of characters like Yuna of Mabaruho to hiss and turn to dust.

I don't really think fanservice makes me more "forgiving" of an annoying character. There maybe are some examples, though I can't think of any off the top of my head. I do think a character with personalities that interest me end up being more attractive to me and thus make fanservice of them much more appealing. It's not worth as much with a character I don't like.

I can't really think of an example in anime, but in manga, Hakuron in Haou Airen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haou_Airen) by Mayu Shinjo totally fits that description. I dislike him myself, but he has a fan following that is just impossible to comprehend, considering the fact that he's a rapist creep and a psychopath. May it never get animated.
