I was browsing over ANN and saw this news item:

Hiroaki Adachi, the head of the Wright Staff company that manages the business affairs of author Yoshiki Tanaka, has revealed in his personal blog that Tanaka's Titania space opera novels have been greenlit for an anime adaptation. Tanaka also wrote the long-running Legend of the Galactic Heroes space opera, the Asian-influenced Sohryuden - Legend of the Dragon Kings mythological fantasy, the Middle-East-influenced The Heroic Legend of Arslan fantasy series, and the Ryoko's Case File supernatural mysteries. All of these other novel series have been adapted into anime.

Between 1988 and 1991, Tanaka wrote three novels about a soldier who flees the spacefaring Titania empire and seeks refuge with a rebellion force. Director Noboru Ishiguro (Macross, Orguss, Megazone 23, Galactic Heroes) first revealed at Anime Expo 2003 that he, character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto (Macross, Orguss, Megazone 23, Gunbuster), and mechanical designer Kazutaka Miyatake (Macross, Orguss, Gunbuster, Eureka Seven) were developing an anime version of the Titania novels. (Mikimoto provided the illustrations in the 2003-2004 novel reprints.) However, Tanaka has left the original story unfinished since 1991. Today's blog entry is the first confirmation of the anime project's progress.

Man is that a nice staff list.

Wow. I've never seen Legend of th Galactic Heroes nor heard of Titania, but just looking at who's involved means I have to check this out whenever it appears. :)

Yeah, a show with that creative staff has a lot of potential. I'm looking forward to seeing the Mikimoto character designs.

Nice. I can't wait for this fall season, another thing to add to my list of Crazy Shrine Maidens and Linebarrel.

Interesting, I've been on the lookout for epic space-based series since Heroic Age, so I'll definitely keep an eye on this.

I've only seen the op for this but I have one thing to say: I think they've taken the term "space opera" a little too literally... that, and the cast seems to be composed entirely of dishy men so it's probably not my sort of show.
