GameStop has the official date set for 04/15/08. I've already sold off one of my controllers and I'm tempted to sell off the other. What about you all? Anyone already snag a Japanese one, are you waiting for the US release, or are you holding off due to the $55 price tag?

Amazon had preorders at $50 a week or two ago and I had some credit so I pre-ordered one there.

I play more PS2 RPGs than PS3 games and currently use my PS2 slim and DS2. PS3's upscaling of PS2 games is supposed to work well so once I have rumble for it I may switch.

Yeah I preordered a Japanese one when they were announced and was lucky in that I didn't experience too much of a delay (and extra day or two) as a result of the demand exceeding the supply.

I went for a white one which, although completely clashes with the console, is really nice. There's a nice weight to the controller too.

Pff... why would I spend $55 on a new controller just because it shakes?

They apparently like to keep the control plugged in.

I like my PS3 and all but I'll wait for more games to support the dual shock....again.Hope MGS4 gets with it.

When I first got my PS3 I didn't miss the rumble at all. I'm certainly not running out to replace my controlers anytime soon.

I believe the MGS4 PS3 bundle is supposed to come with the DualShock 3, so yes.

Of course MGS 4 is DualShock3 compatible!

I also sold one of my Sixaxis in anticipation. As soon as the Dual Shock 3 is out i'm getting one. I will also eventually replace my second Sixaxis too but not right away.

It will be great since i still play tons of PS2 games. Also a lot of the already released PS3 games will work with it too like Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, GT5...this is awesome!

Well I plan on getting MGS4 and I need a second PS3 remote, so yes.

I need more games to warrant paying $55 for a new controller. At the moment, I have Uncharted, and Uncharted alone. :sd:

I guess I need to get one for MGS4.

I've had a JPN DS3 controller since late December and only paid $55 after a coupon. I've enjoyed it playing Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, and Ratchet & Clank Future on the PS3. I still have my original PS3 controller for a friend to use when we play co-op games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance or Metal Slug Anthology.

Iff they put the Dualshock 3 into the PS3 box before I buy one, I'll get one by default. I won't shell out extra for rumble because it's a stupid feature that I never use. I switched it off on PS1 games, I switched it off on PS2 games, I switched it off on GCN games, I switched it off on Wii games — and on the Wii, it might actually be valuable! But I could give a good goddamn.

Why are controllers $55? Honestly isn't it asking a bit much to charge more then $30 for one?

And yes Nintendo, I'm also looking at you when you figure in that damn ball and stick.

Even without the games, it's a much nicer controller. I really like the Sixaxis, but the DS3 feels a lot more solid (it's heavier than the DS2) and responsive.

I might pick up one eventually since I only have one original PS3 controller now. At $55 I won't be in a hurry to do it though.

And that's the main reason I'm going to buy at least one DS3. I don't like how light the current SIXAXIS feels.

You say it's more responsive as well, eh? Cool.

I probably will get it for a second controller when MGS4 comes out...although depending on the game I disable the rumble feature. MGS and Silent Hill has some good uses for it...but it seems silly to have in RPGs (IMO). So I will be getting it...for MGS4.

Well, I went and sold my other PS3 controller yesterday after work at a local shop for $20 (GameStop will only give you $10). I put the $20 towards Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP! :D

(How did you apply the 2.20 update, you ask? I have a USB->PS2 controller adapter with a "PS" button on it. I just borrowed the PS2 controller from my PS2 and I was good to go! :) )

At least my assertions were generally wrong when I thought people would try to put a positive spin on lacking rumble when they finally do come out.

So, I spotted a few DS3's at GameStop Saturday and got a couple. I likes! :)

I 've had a DS3 since December. About 60.00 shipped. Playing Motorstorm or Burnout without rumble is just kinda blah. The MSRP for the DS3 should be 49.99 like the sixaxis.

Hmm... actually, I'll probably buy one of these at some point now, because my Sixaxis is broken.

One of my friends just bought one at Gamestop yesterday, and he said it is awesome. As for me, on the other hand, I have no need for a third controller at this time.

No I'd rather hold onto my money and the six axis works just fine.

I told myself I wasn't....and yet I bought one yesterday. I have no willpower. :P

I needed another controller for my PS3 so I got one. Works pretty well when I played Devil May Cry 4 w/ it. Feels a lot more sturdy in my hands. Wish it came w/ a recharging chord.

You should have got one of these with your PS3. I got one with my launch Japanese one anyway...

I did, I just wanted another one so I can charge both of my controllers while I was watching a Blu-Ray disc. ;)

Aha, I see :) Haven't looked online but maybe there's a 3rd party USB device that will charge multiple controllers at once out there somewhere?

Not me! I've grown far to accustom to the lovely light as a feather (by controller standards) of the sixaxis! I'd sooner stock up on a couple more of those then bother with rumble and a heavy controller again~

Mr. Spiffy-Pants

Well, I've enjoyed it thus far. I was afraid that I couldn't switch between Digital and Analog modes (important for old PS1 games made prior to DualShock), but it's a menu option when you press the PS button plus it automatically detects which mode is supported (tested with FFVII).

Well I will be getting one with the bundle pack of MGS4 with the PS3.

I really don't see the value, I've never been impressed with the rumble on anything. If I need another controller, I might consider it, only if the rumble can at least be disabled if I don't like it.

That would probably require using a power brick.

If it's going to be connected with USB, why not just use a second USB cable? If you don't have any spare jacks, then a regular USB hub might do the job.

How much do they sell used Sixaxis controllers for at Gamestop, if you happened to notice?
