It was recently reported that the DVD will actually be "Evangelion 1.01" and will have a bunch of new shots. The new version was also given a special screening, but I didn't bother to see if I could get in. I'll wait for the Blu-ray release.

Thanks for the info. Just wanted to check, but is it that the movie on the DVD will be "Evangelion 1.01"? Or was the reference actually to the extra on the bonus disc of the special edition version titled "Explanation of Evangelion 1.01"?

Anyway, I'll be buying the DVD. Gotta collect 'em all. I've ordered the special edition version, but my order won't ship until mid-late May.

Yep, when it's released in R1. Hopefully there will be a Blu-ray option by that time.

Thanks for that. It does sound like the changes will to the main feature, rather than simply an extra on the bonus disc of the special edition. But from the sound of it, it'll be touch up to 266 cuts of the movie, rather than new shots. Bear in mind it's version 1.01 not 1.1 :)

I won't get it. I think I have already spent enough on Evangelion but who knows maybe when it's released in r1 I will probably buy it anyway.
