I don't post here often, but I do lurk quite a bit.

If I may ask, where is a good place to find business statistics on the Anime Industry, particularly for the West? I'm doing a research project about the entry of Anime / Manga / Japanese interactive entertainment in the West. Thanks alot.

You can't. They don't tell us anything. What tiny, tiny insignificant bits of information we do get often are dropped here and there informally in interviews and news articles and such. Also with Funi, sometimes we get a little from their quarterly corporate conference calls to their parent Navarre.

If you put out the cash for Videoscan numbers you might get a bit more but generally, we fans are left in the dark as to what is going on.

Edit: to clarify, I'm talking about the North American market here. There are more numbers for anime in Japan, though I mostly seem to see info for the best sellers, not a comprehensive list for everything.

Manga, however, gets a lot of detail in the West. I've seen threads and articles where people are able to break down how much each volume sold from each company and such.

something is right, aside from Japanese TV ratings and DVD sales we're in the dark.

That's what it seemed like when I was trying to search for info. It's definitely different from the video game industry where stats are updated hourly (exaggeration).

Anyway, thanks for the help.
