From www.animeboston.com (http://www.animeboston.com/):

April 21, 2008

I'd like to announce that, once again the Hynes Convention Center will be hosting Anime Boston in 2009. In addition to this, 2009 will mark the return of the Sheraton Boston Hotel as our official hotel, with programming spanning both the hotel and convention center.

It will be held from May 22nd through May 24th, 2009 - Memorial Day weekend.
Banzai! They had basically implied that they would be back in the Sheraton next year, but it's nice to have confirmation.

Oh wow. With those dates, I may actually be able to attend this finally.

It was announced at closing ceremonies for 2007 and 2008, although I guess this is the first it's been on the website (unless it's buried in the FAQ somewhere.)

Greetings and felicitations. My friend Leonard Houle and I have a reservation for the Sheraton Boston for Thursday 21 May through Sunday 24 May 2009 (three nights) for Anime Boston 2009 in a room with two double beds (we get dibs on the beds, so please expect to sleep on the floor). We are looking for people (gender not an issue) to share the room and its cost; the tentative cost is $213.66 per night ($190.00 + 12.45% tax), totaling $640.98 (cost is rounded up to the nearest dollar for convenience, and will be finalized when AB announces the room rates):

(2 people = $107 each night; $214 for two nights, $321 for three (us))
3 people = $ 72 each night; $143 for two nights, $214 for three
4 people = $ 54 each night; $107 for two nights, $161 for three

We are two mature males who will be up late, but are otherwise quiet, and will be checking in Thursday evening (though the time is negotiable). If you only stay for one or two nights, that is all you pay for. Please contact me at jwatson8 [at] comcast [dot] net if you are interested.

Ciao,
John C. Watson

Expect us to plan a get-together, probably on that Saturday at California Pizza Kitchen.

Pretty cool. I missed out on the Otakon meetup, but I'll be attending Anime Boston this year. Hopefully, I can meet up with fellow AODers.

I'll probably be spending most of my daytime working in the dealers room though which will be tiring.

CPK at the Prudential is undergoing a remodel and will open up again in March. Maybe they knew we were coming back.

Regarding lines, see the AB Blog announcement "Anime Boston Contracts Expo Logic for On-Site Registration" (http://ab09reg.blogspot.com/2009/02/anime-boston-contracts-expo-logic-for.html) (this was also on the AB Web site's front page, but the blog has a permalink).

It's three weeks until the con—who's going, and are you interested in another lunch or dinner meeting? (California Pizza Kitchen worked well the last two times, so it seems a good place from which to start negotiations.)

I'm interested in another Saturday lunch meeting. (The bf will probably be making another appearance as well). CPK sounds like a good place to go again (they actually just finished their remodel) - kinda sad I haven't been in there since the last con. :sd: Hopefully the preliminary schedule will be up soon so we can form slightly more concrete plans.

No cosplay this year for either of us - just didn't have the time.

A Saturday lunch would be good, though all kinda depends on the schedule (obviously), and never ate a CPK before but wanted to try it out so that works for me. Hard to believe that it's only a few weeks away (time really flies haha).

Nosredna is also going to AB, but he's lazy and told me to post here so you can add him to the running list too.

Hey guys, I'm organizing a game show called "Hyakunin Kuizu" which is basically like Family Feud. We need a few more folks to answer our survey questions.

You can take the survey at: http://animeunscripted.com/survey/

We need 100 people to answer each of those questions...so we're hoping to get the last few soon. (There are actually more questions than you see, but they are randomly selected with a secret technical process so that nobody ever sees them all.) Once questions have enough valid answers, they will no longer appear on the survey. (If you don't have an answer, just leave it blank.)

After questions get 100 valid responses, they will be taken off the survey...until eventually we're done collecting responses and the entire survey comes to an end.

Thanks! See you at the con...

Read on the forum that the pre-lim schedule should be coming out soon. Also, does anyone know if there is going to be an AoD panel this year? Nothing has been mentioned but I assume there will be one.

See the R1 thread "Anime Boston 2009 Schedule and Panel Discussion" (http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showthread.php?t=93167). The AoD panel is tentatively scheduled for 10am–11:30am Saturday (so it seems that a post-panel lunch meeting would probably be best).

The line moved quite efficiently. My friend and I were both in and out within 30 minutes (this was around 5:30 or so). My bf got out of work late, so he went with another friend of ours. The only snag was that bf was not put into the system as a registration (he pre-reg'd at First Night Boston - and they somehow did not put his name in the system). Ten minutes later, with some extra time put in at customer service (good thing he kept the receipt from First Night), he finally got his badge.

I'll be sporting a blue striped dress with a Prinny hat today (hopefully they got some good AC going on at the Hynes - it's a fleece hat!) Feel free to stop me and say hello! (As long as you introduce yourself first - otherwise, it's a little creepy...:P)

So far 15 minutes into the panel, a lot of the expected industry-is-down thing being discussed.

Now it's moving to the tech side...

It was great both meeting new friends as well as meeting up with old ones! I think I may have finally convinced the bf to join the forum in some capacity! (Not that it's good news for Chris...:P;))

Some of the things the con did actually drive me nuts this year - (particularly some issues with security and the way a few lines were handled), but it was enjoyable overall.

Any con that has Spice and Wolf licensed can't be all that bad. :catgirl:

My picture from the meetup will probably be up tomorrow - I need to find my SD card reader.

For the record, the meetup was (as planned) a luncheon at California Pizza Kitchen at noon on Saturday. In attendance were (counting clockwise) myself, Chris Beverage, Hielostar, Hielostar's boyfriend, [seat empty] (literally—that's not a poster's user name), female friend #2 of UEHacker, female friend #1 of UEHacker, UEHacker, machineger4, and Nosredna, for a total of nine.

Did you at least enjoy the concert? I left not too long after you and was pretty far back, so I'm sure you and your friends had better seats.

Sorry I didn't talk to you three much either. I'm happy they liked Manchester United though, some drunk Mets fan was harassing me about it later that night :P (but it was all in good fun). I really wanted to find you after the concert to hear what you thought about it, but I never saw you again.

The concert was fantastic, I was singing along the entire time haha, female friend #1 (my girlfriend, who was next to me) who isn't a fan of anime ended up enjoying it as well so I think that says something. I'm so happy I got to meet them at the autograph session friday. A Yuki Kajiura/Kalafina weekend can't ever be bad lol.

Edit: My group got harassed by drunks on friday hahaha, we left the rave around 1:30 and started the 20 minute walk back to where we were staying and since we were all in our rave attire/kandi this one guy was like "LOOKIT THESE PUUUNKS" but it was just kinda funny.

Speaking about lines...the most ridiculous one was the line for the South Tower elevators late night in the Sheraton (there was a line to the elevator!). For some reason, the elevators were acting really slow/weird during the late night hours.

Well, glad to hear that the meet-up luncheon went well and people had fun. I wish I could've made it, but I was working the whole con.

There was a good chance y'alls probably saw me and maybe talked to me in the dealers room (I was working for VideoGamesNewYork) during the weekend.
