While I never played EWJ 3D, I absolutely LOVED EWJ 1 &2. Hopefully EWJ 4 will be as good as those old games...

There was an Earthworm Jim 3? Anyway, this is good news if this one doesn't disappoint. Barely played the first game, the second one was awesome (though that race was a drag).

Nice, I hope this new project takes the game back to its roots. Anything after the second game was pretty bad IIRC. I also hope that the new animated series and feature are at least as good as the mid-nineties series. Hopefully this re-launch will help pave the way for that mid-nineties series to finally be released on DVD. I've been wanting that show in my collection for a long time.

That might have been Earthworm Jim 64. There was another game for the GBC though.

My mind envisions this gorgeous hi-res 2D recreation of the original game…or at least something in its vein. The reality is probably more likely an average 3D title with OK textures, maybe cell shaded.

But, Douglas TenNapel is serving as a creative consultant, so that’s at least an auspicious sign.

On the 4 designation, I’m guessing they’re just counting the previous three main titles: EWJ, EWJ2, and EWJ3D.

This is glorious news if they create a game anything like the first two. Those were some of my absolute favorite games from the 90s. 3D on the 64 wasn't so hot, however. You know they'll probably continue with the 3D environments but please, PLEASE don't disappoint us again. We've waited this long for another great EWJ game. Just imagining EWJ on a next-gen system does bring a smile to my face, though. "Whoa, nelly!"

I imagine it will be a PSN/XBLA/WiiWare(?) deal as there was a PSP game deep into development (some gameplay videos still about) which was cancelled.

While it is nice to know that Douglas TenNapel will be on board, if it isn't 2D I'm going to find it hard to swallow. Much like Castlevania, I think the game play just works better in 2D.

Oh well, if it sucks I'll resort to playing the first two games and hit up my friend to play the Sega CD version again.

Wow, I played 1 and 2, but avoided three. I have no idea why they would want to revive the franchise though. Maybe xbox live arcade and virtual console in the future?

Well I'm excited about this! A friend of mine and I were just talking the other day about how awesome the EWJ games were and how fun the show was. Count me in as someone who hopes it just goes back to 2d but I guess we'll see.

It's too bad that EWJ was canceled on PSP. Hopefully it will come out on PSP eventually...
