AV Watch itself doesn't mention English subs, but Disney's spec page confirms it will have them. If Bandai's US release turns out to have issues, this may be a viable alternative.

It would be a big shame if the diservice that R1 gets when compared to R2J with PCM audio and better (in a lot of cases) video quality, carried across to Blu-ray. Let's hope Bandai Entertainment do what they should here. *crosses fingers*. I have high hopes for them actually, they've done very well for a vast amount of titles.

Damn I just bought the first release for $45 about two months ago. If Bandai Ent. matches this new release I'll probably double dip.

I'm confused, except for the different codec, why is this one better? I would think a 7.1 PCM mix is bound to be better than a 6.1 mix. I have the old one, and see little reason why I would want this version. As much as I might like a dub too (one of the few I think is ok) I doubt I'll pick up the US release either.

Maybe it's just me, but why do i see the same trick that Hollywood companies used to play with DVD releases over and over again with BDs now

The PQ wasn't that great on the old BD release, which I own as well.
I'll wait and see how the Japanese BVHEJ and the US Bandai Entertainment releases compare, before I double dip.
Also, though I do admit not having been able to hear the PCM 7.1 track myself yet, I have to wonder WHY they are downgrading the mix?
Doesn't 6.1 have a rear center speaker, as opposed to two side surrounds for 7.1?
Perhaps they may as well have developed 8.1 speficially for BD, but I guess that would be too much overkill :P

I would guess because nobody really gives a hoot about anything better than 5.1 (at least not enough to complain about it/threaten to not buy) and because they probably need to save any bitrate they can with all those audio tracks. This of course begs the question: why on earth are there some many audio options? What reason is there to have the DTS-HD MA on there? Not for lossless, since it already has a TrueHD track, and it's not for the DTS core because it has a separate track for that anyway.

That's just keywords. If you look in the language section you'll note that only Japanese is listed for audio - for subs both japanese and english are listed.
