View Full Version : Anime inspired food items
I'm not sure if this should go here, OT, or Japanese culture, but I thought it was a unique anime related bit of news. While browsing ANN(http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-05-06/tokyo-restaurants-offer-limited-evangelion-menu-items) I came across that.
It instantly reminded me of the Gainax top image from their site with the "Angel" plate arrangement but there you can get a Rei glass and "Angel" noodles . The cafe's site has more(http://www.pasela.co.jp/event/eva/), can't say I don't want that "Angel" dessert.
But since Eva seems to be the only all out marketing example with things like Doritos and coffee cans, I was curious if any other series went down this route. That Asuka cocktail must taste bitterly sweet.

that dessert does look scrumptious!
That is so cool. Putting that place on my list of places to visit in Japan!

Wasn't there, like, an Evangelion coffee or energy drink or such-like that went out into the market? I vaguely remember reading something (no, not our something, before you all start ;)) somewhere and that it had a paraphrase of one of Gendo's lines: "Either drink it now, or leave!"

They even had Dorito bags with the characters on them. If theres one thing that Gainax knows how to do, it's marketing. I seem to remember some sort of Ghibli cafe as well.

UCC I think. A real brand that has/had Eva characters. Haruhi has also moved into the marketing arena.......

Death Note chocolate muffins made me smile. Also last year Lawson did a One Piece promotion with lots of terrible themed snacks available. I bought the Straw Hat Bread with Cream but it was pretty disgusting so I left the rest of the products to more dedicated fans :)
Here are some pics.

I'm surprised there's no Kazuma Azuma Japan.

Hmm, I can understand themed stuff like the One Piece(huge title) and other things, was interesting to see the Eva food actually look like stuff from Eva. I keep seeing that picture of what looks like Kiki stenciled into a latte.
I'm surprised there's no Kazuma Azuma Japan.
Unfortunately, Pantasia refers to a gambling site, not a website for bread. :knowitall:
