This has been floating around, but I don't see a thread.
ANN Article (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-05-09/3-arrested-in-japan-for-spreading-anime-via-share-program)
Interesting. I wonder how many people this will scare.
92JeyRfcya, YS2YSUOe1cLtf, and YnXmHqtxqS are the suspected arrestees.

It was older anime as well, note newer stuff. If Japan wants us to take them seriously on the whole "fansub" and "don't pirate" shtick then they have to start taking care of business on their end first.

They may have been arrested for older stuff, but they were uploading newer stuff as well. I guess people just have to stay away from the older stuff if that is the case though. This may just be the beginning though.

You mean like stop inflating R2 DVD prices and actually make it easier for R1 companies to acquire licenses for their titles? I can definitely agree with that.
I still can't believe they actually had the nerve to call upon R1 users to abandon fansubs without even bothering to make licensing less restrictive for the R1 companies last year...

It's a two pronged approach to be sure.

What the R2 companies did back then seemed like a half-assed approach if you ask me.
