Just curious, what is the longest time you guys have spent without watching a single episode of anime?
I think the record for me (since I started becoming a fan several years ago) would have to be six months. Life can throw you such a curveball that once in a while you have to push your favorite form of entertainment in the back burner. It was sort of a personal decision I had to make, but having lasted that long rekindled my passion for the hobby even more.
But aside from the longest time, I can typically last about a week or two without watching the stuff.

Truth be told I've never kept track. I know I've gone days without watching anything before. However I'm not sure if I ever gone months or even just weeks.

Same here. I'm always bombarded by anime when it comes to this board, online, and other places. I've gone two months without actually watching anything anime related.

Back when I played MMORPGs, it was not uncommon to go months at a time without watching anything. Now, I may play a game for a couple weeks. But then my mood switches, and I start watching things again.

Totally not fair, but I didn't see a single anime for about 10 years. From the last televised episode of Speed Racer (in Seattle) around 1968-9 until Star Blazers in 1979.

Don't really keep track, but would suspect 6-8 months or so. I regularly go weeks/months without watching anything, especially if I'm active in a long video game.

I've never documented it, but I'd say maybe a year or so? Well, in that context I mean having watched an anime series...

Assuming it's when I first started anime. As others mentioned, I never kept track. Maybe two weeks at best.

05 to about April 07 I went for months at time without watching anything anime related due to anime burnout as well as mainly playing World Of Warcraft with my leisure time instead of watching anime. Until I watched Haruhi which reignited my interest in anime (and at a good time since the Spring 07 season was stellar) I onyl watched/finished a few series over those 2 years.. while FMP:TSR was excellent... Gundam SEED Destiny and Mai Otome were epic failures that didn't do anything to reignite my interest.

I know there were plenty of times in the past where months might go by without any anime watching, but in the past couple of years, probably a few weeks at the most.
I know last month I didn't watch anything for about, oh....three days, I think. :)

2-3 months every summer due to fieldwork so it's out of necessity rather than lack of interest. The rather staggering backlog I have when I get back home always reminds me I watch way too much normally.

Very rarely for more than a week or so... with so much portable hardware (laptop, PSP, etc.) it's rare that I don't have something I can watch. The longest stretches tend to be when my time is just completely taken up with other things like work, cars, etc. and I just don't have the time... but even then I can usually find the time to watch a little bit while eating dinner or the likes.

Man, when I think about it... it was a week last year (if not always less than 24 hours)

I'd have to say those two weeks where my room was being remodeled. I was so stressed without it lol. I am out of my block now so YAY went to hastings they have so much good stuff to rent. They have Bleach 7,8,9,and 10! whooo and Death note 3 and 4, but no 2 *sigh Also they have Black blood brothers but only the 3rd disc for some reason. So yay My Super fun cool anime weekend starts NOW lol Guess I've been watching Fruits basket too much.

Longest time was 2 months since I played too much on a MMO game, but after dropping it, I went back on watching anime finally. Occasionally I play games, but not for very long period.

I'm sort of tempted to point to an eight-year gap between when Robotech went off the air where I could see it (every now and then) and I got to university and joined the anime club there... although, of course, I wasn't quite aware there was more stuff like the series whose storyline had interested me until close to the end of that gap. After graduating from university, I spent about eight months working where I couldn't get back to it and stay with friends during the monthly anime club showings, but I did eventually manage to get a DVD player and start my collection. Nowadays, I suppose I take about a week's break around Christmas vacation, although I perhaps don't place a great "revitalizing" importance in that.

That is why I'm so happy to have a local anime store near my home. Their slogan is we need to have it all!!

Probably about 2 days, though I'm not totally sure. I went over 2 years watching anime every day at one point, but now it isn't that unusual for me to go a day every once in a while without watching something. However, it would be pretty unusual for me to not watch anything for longer than that.

5 years then I saw my first anime, then another 2 years then I could watch it weekly, then a little more time off, the I got cable and I believe since then, a week, max.

Deliberately? Mmmmm...I think I went about 26 hours once on a flight between the East Coast and Hawaii...
In recent memory, that is the last 10 years or so, the longest I've ever gone is probably 2-3 days. Back before I took things like my laptop on camping trips. My last one saw my laptop go with me along with a solar power backpack and power converter. So even over my vacation I still managed to watch some anime. These days I'd say the maximum is probably about 24 hours or so, assuming that work keeps me so busy I just work and sleep for a few hours and then go back to work. But even so, I usually find the time (generally out of those few hours of sleep) to watch a little Anime or at least fall asleep to it.

I'm trying to remember the last time I went more than a couple of days without watching anime.... and I can't. And whenever it was, it was probably about a week, and only because I was on a family vacation of some sort and I didn't have my laptop or anything else necessary to view anime with me.

I really don't keep track of these things. I think anime everyday, but actually watching it has some breaks in it. For me I think two weeks was the longest stretch and that is because I was on a vacation then. But other than that, I do not really have an idea.
As i've wrote on another thread, I go through maddening consumption of anime where all I do is watch anime. And then I have severe burnout and dont watch any shows for months.
Then I go, "Oh yeah I never finnished that show, I should probably do that" or I hear about how magnificient a show is and I have to watch it.
It's been the cycle for the past 12 years i've been a big fan.

Mine's been no longer than a week, as far as I can remember. When I was only working one job, it would often only be a day or two. But working 6-7 days a week really throws a wrench into the works.

Well, I'd like to say it was my 2 week trip to China, but I did see a Mandarin dubbed episode of Inuyasha while there.
And I had episode of Minami-ke and Nana loaded up on my iPhone that I watched during down time and plane trips.
So lately, it's probably less than 3 days that I've gone between watching any anime at all.

In my case, I think it would be a week to 10 days. A couple of jobs away from home with seriously long hours (12-14 hours a day) kind of reduced my ability to focus on anything but work, eating and sleeping.

Another one who had some long stretches due to burnout, here.
For several years starting around mid-1997, anime got too hard to keep up with for me. Too hard and/or expensive to get tapes, and not getting enough joy out of it to put in the effort. I'm sure I watched a handful of shows in that time period, but I couldn't say what the longest stretch was between them. I do distinctly remember that Otakon 2000 was the tipping point that got me back into it. I decided to check out the con for old time's sake, and spent the weekend bopping from one video room to the next and falling in love all over again. :)

I currently am on a hiatus. But it's not because I'm tired of anime, it's because there haven't been any shows that interest me enough.

I usually watch at least one episode a day, so I don't think my total is too long . I guess if we count before I started buying DVDs, then it would have been a couple of years :P.

Off the top of my head I would have to say about 12 years to 17 years. This cover the time from the late 1970s to early 1990's when I was not watching as much animated programing as I was in the 1990s. I will not deny I might have caught something that may have been anime but nothing comes to mind that I can recall. My second longest time would have been for the late 1960's to the mid 1970s say 5 to 7 years. this would have covered me watching Speed Racer to when I first saw Star Blazers or Battle of the Planets.

Yeah, my story would be about the same. I didn't keep track, but I probably went a couple months at some point without watching anything while playing various MMORPGs. Other than those times, it is not uncommon for me to go a week or two without watching anything due to being busy with work and other stuff.
